Love this place! Great Covid precautions and ample outdoor seating. Menu is accessible via a QR code which I really enjoyed. It decreases the waste of paper menus and allows you to continuously order more things without having to worry about grabbing the waiter or another menu. We ordered twice and you pay at the end of each order. If you need the waiter you can put ur card on a stand to get their attention. Food is great as I've always experienced at any Bartaco location. Duck quesadilla, pork belly bowl, and fried oyster taco were exceptionally good. The chicken bowl was simple and something you can make at home but still good. Drinks were tasty, definitely strong but enjoyable to drink which is rare. Would recommend the watermelon cocktail. We asked about the happy hour (normally called high tide as pictured in previous photo posts) but they said they no longer do that (we went at 5:30 on a Tuesday). But I understand given Covid they may have seen a decrease in business and had to cut it. Bartaco adheres very well to COVID precautions! Tables are socially distant, menus are on a QR code and staff is wearing masks. Prior to arriving at the restaurant, we joined the waitlist via text. Once getting to the restaurant, we had a 60-90 minute in which we waited about an hour for our table. The server only came to the table when our table card was flipped "up" which indicates you need something from your server. You place your order online and a server brings the food once ready. It took longer than estimated on the app for the food to be brought to the table, and everyone's food was not brought together. My tacos when brought to the table were cold. We asked our server multiple times for silverware and it took multiple requests before getting a fork and knife. Overall, I was most impressed with the nautical theme and ambiance of the place and COVID practices. read more

Ok, so I have hit up a lot handful of places since the reopening in New York Bartaco has by far HAS THE BEST GUIDELINES and PRACTICES for social distancing. Contactless menu and payment. There are no cash transaction which is great! You scan the QR code the menu pops up on your phone, you order and checkout all from the convenience of your phone! Which also means you tip every time you order. I would've preferred to do so at the end but no big deal. Drinks: WOW! They were really delicious. I had the cucumber margarita and Paloma Fresca both great options and give a refreshing taste. Food: I also enjoyed the food here. It's tapas like so everything was essentially small bites. If you're ordering tacos you have to ensure that you select how many tacos you want because they only come one per order. The chips and guac was also delicious. Okay I am a little late with a review but when I saw so many positive reviews I needed to say something. I am on the fence with 1 or 2 stars I went with 2 , why, don't know. So I've eaten there many times only out of convenience. Never found the food to be "amazing" or priced competitively. The seating always seemed cramped and it always appeared that depending on your appearance determined where you sat (selective seating) In all the times I've been there was never offered the option to sit outside, my options were wherever they wanted to seat me and my companion. Anyway the last time I ate there I got a special with my meal, exposure to hepatitis A. What a delicious side dish! A series of shots and not the alcoholic type. In my opinion there are better options for tacos specially in Port Chester. I have not been there since 2017. If I wanted tacos I would go to Inca Azteca. I will say that the selection of tacos is impressive but that's my only positive. read more

we sat at the bar so maybe that's why our service was meh. atmosphere is lively and mad hot like no AC vibes. we tried most of the tacos, the beans, corn, guac kale caesar and cucumber salad the tacos were all a bit eh but at $2 a pop it makes for a cheaper quick eat. our fav was the duck birria by far. the small kale salad was mad small, think like 3 bites max but honestly one of the best menu items there from what I tried IMO. heavy anchovy so beware if you're not into that. cucumber salad also oddly a win. the fish taco was def a bust and the steak also not great. what I didn't like was we ordered 3 more tacos towards the end of our meal bc we were still hungry. the initial order we put in came out rapid fire, like way fast and even before we got our drinks. the second order legit never came. waited 30 min for 3 additional tacos and decided ok nvm just the check. but the bar tender kept insisting she wouldn't close the check in case they were made and sitting in the kitchen. but why would we want tacos that had been sitting out anyway.... she went over and clearly told them "make these tacos asap!" then came back and told us "they're working on them" so again would not remove them from the bill. when we did get them she just gave us a take out box for them and the full check. idk didn't sit right with me at all. no apology and clearly just trying to get the money out of us, meanwhile we only ordered them in the moment and not with the intention of taking them home. when we did have them at home they were so sloppy and rushed. my bf didn't want to be more aggressive or else i'm sure we could've really argued the bill. I wanted to love this place. It is a great looking venue and was hoping it was worth the hour wait. 2 stars for the servers who were doing their best in a super hectic environment. Food = 0 stars. Dessert arrived LONG before the main course. The guac and one beer was decent. My vodka drink was completely diluted. Baja fish taco was fried/air fried to a dry crisp which has never been the case at a taco restaurant before. Absolutely no taste, garnish, nothing but very crispy skin. Chili lime shrimp had plenty of, well, lime -- but it was so saturated with said lime it was actually painful to swallow (I was fine with it being VERY spicy, but it is not noted on the menu so beware). Cauliflower was cold chunks doused in hot sauce. Sadly, the dive NYC takeouts serve more artful styles of veggie tacos. The churros, which arrived 25 minutes before the main course, were also super dry and tasteless. Didn't even know it was possible to have bad tasting churros.. definitely a first. read more

They then ask you to use a barcode to order everything so they have no responsibility to check in or speak with you, and when they do, they are rude. I am regular at this bartaco location. Typically when I go, I usually have a great experience with friends and family. On 2/17/23, approximately 10:30pm This particular night I've never felt disrespected & humiliated at a restaurant causing a scene. We were approaching an empty spot at the bar, when a male approached my friend in an aggressive manner stating he was trying to make his drink order. We were confused by the way he was speaking to us, it was quite clear both himself and his friend were a bit intoxicated. His friend, noticed the situation & shoved my friend and I quickly de-escalate the situation and told him it was not necessary to put his hand on my friend. One of the managers saw the situation & told us to go to the other side of the bar and we tried to explain to him that the guy who put his hands on my friend, was a bit of intoxicated. He didn't want to hear & threaten to call the police. Which he did. I asked the manager why was he defending the guy who put his hands on my friend. After admitting that he was in a romantic relationship with the gentleman who put his hand on my friend, it was clear that the manager didn't care to hear our side of the story. After a few minutes of back & forth trying to explain what had happened. We were then kicked out of Bartaco & question by police. We were not allowed back in. read more

I've worked with surgeons building contractors lawyers all very busy people who get back to you and keep promises, but this fucking guy runs a Restaurant, and all he seems to do when I saw him at the restaurant is stand at the host stand and show 17 year-old girls how to seat people. I had a really good time at this restaurant on Friday night. We knew that we had to give them a call prior to getting there, there was about an hour wait when we called. The waiting time was a little longer than expected but we were waiting for a table outside. The menu is all online you can order drinks while you're waiting outside of the restaurant. (But this took about 25 minutes and there was no ice in our drinks) When we got to our table the server explained what we had to do on the phone to order and it was really easy and simple. You have to order everything at once which was good & bad because I wanted to order two drinks but the ice would melt Overall all the tacos were so good we really enjoyed the lobster roll and the cucumber salad. The ceviche was really good also and the fried oyster taco were also unforgettable! We will definitely be back soon for more tacos read more

Staff was great from our server to the manager and general manager. Everything we ate was delicious. While waiting for our table the (big man) bartender made me a excellent mezcal margarita. I order another while eating and as much as I tried it was just too sour. I was a waiter at Jean Georges in Manhattan and I can say that from experience the service here is on par with the attentive hospitality offered at that fine restaurant. Very simply put: the service here is extraordinarily good! The food is excellent, great flavor, great quality. The atmosphere is light, fun, refreshing with good music and decor. The first time I came was with my 8 year old daughter; and although the place was packed with young professionals, who were ordering far more than us, we were treated like VIPs. I have since come a couple of times alone for lunch, seated on a counter steps from the bar. The manager himself tended to me and so did the bar tender, who came away from the busy bar to check on me. I could not recommend BarTaco in Port Chester more highly! read more

Ever since moving to Westchester I've had my eyes on this place, since it was so heavily rated. It has a very nice ambience and is brightly lit. There's a lot of parking available and it sits right next to the harbor which is a pretty nice spot, especially for outdoor seating. The restaurant itself was slightly smaller than what I imagined, but it's very cozy and they serve heart warming finger foods that go very well with drinks. There's many different taco flavors which were all delicious (especially the portebello one!!) and other side dishes, finger foods, etc. with plenty of well-made cocktails and drink options. Although on the pricier side and the tacos themselves aren't very big, it's a great place to just hang out, have drinks, and have small plates on the side!! It also is children friendly, we saw many families with their kids and they have a kids menu. What stood out to me the most was the service, and the amount of attention our waitress and waiters gave us. We were a party of 12 celebrating someone's birthday. We had paper slips to write on to order all the diff tacos and appetizers we each wanted, making it very easy for a large party to order. I had arrived later so I did not know there would be a surprise cake for the birthday girl and placed an order of churros. The waitress in the end never put in the order but waited until cake was served to tell me that she wasn't sure if I knew about the cake and did not think I would want the churros after having cake. I was applaud by her attentiveness and consideration, she made sure not to ask me in front of the birthday girl too :) so kind! In the end, she was right and I did not want the churros haha. After bringing the cake out with the candles, they also brought the cake back in and sliced it for us before serving. I also think that was an additional service that we totally were not expecting. So overall, the food is great, drinks are great, service is great, and so is ambience and location :) slightly pricey but worth it read more

First time to this Bartaco location & it was such a pleasant surprise. Food & service were excellent. Even the table water was good, which is not standard in that area of town (perhaps it's filtered). We both had half roasted chicken & shared a chopped salad, black beans, guacamole & my husband had coconut gelato. Everything was delicious, portions were good size & prices were very good too. The restaurant was very clean (even the bathrooms) & the water view was lovely. Service was so good that when they noticed my husband didn't finish his carafe of ice tea (standard way they serve it), they brought him a large covered cup with ice so he could take it with him. My experience with this location has never been great but last night might have taken the cake. I downloaded the app as suggested on the website to place my name on the "waitlist" which stated there was a three hour wait at 5:30 on a Saturday night. That seemed absurd so I decided to call them instead and see how long the wait really was. The gentleman on the phone explained that while they don't take reservations, you can be placed on a "SEATlist" and then be seated once you check in. He put me on hold and then a woman answered the phone and couldn't hear me when I kept saying I wanted to be placed on the "SEATlist" since that's what the original guy asked me -- by the way who uses the term SEATlist?? She finally got the hint that I wanted to be put on the waitlist and took my name and phone number down. We got there within 25 minutes and I checked in with the hostess and asked her how long it would be before we were seated and she stated it would be about 10-15 minutes since there was only one party of two ahead of us. Perfect, or so we thought... We waited at their outside waiting area and after 25 minutes I checked in with the hostess to see what the status of our table was since we were seeing a show at the Capital Theater at 8 (it was about 6:30 at this point). The hostess now said that we would have to wait about 30 minutes longer. Wait. Hold up. 30 more minutes? How did we go from 10-15 and then additional 10 to now 30? I asked her politely how could that be since she had quoted us another much shorter time period initially. It just didn't make sense. She said that since other people checked in after we got in but called earlier that they were placed at a higher rank than us. In what world does that make any sense? I got my boyfriend and after being annoyed we waited so long for a table we started looking at other restaurants in the area. As soon as we had walked over to the taco place next to the Capital, I got a text saying my table was ready. Needless to say I wanted some tacos and since the other taco place was busy and had a long wait we decided to book it back to bartaco. We saw the same hostess and she mentioned nothing about the 30 minute mixup. The thing about Bartaco is the food is actually really good - we love the roasted duck tacos, the street corn fritters, and are obsessed with the chips and salsa verde (please think of selling this in larger quantities) but having to wait often an hour for a table or even after using their bs waitlist system really ruins your dining experience. If you're thinking of going here before a show at the Capital or on the verge of being hangry, I would highly suggest either ordering takeout or trying another restaurant in the area. Bartaco, please revamp your waitlist system. read more
