It looks like this company has "bad days" and "legendary bad days," as Riddick once said. I…read moredefinitely got their legendary-bad side. After submitting a web inquiry, an estimator was sent to the property for a consultation. Unfortunately, Brody Barger was sent as the estimator, and he arrived with an attitude from the beginning. As a first-hand observer, I can confidently say that this particular estimator was subpar in his duties. I genuinely wondered whether he had an argument at the office, something happened on the way over, or his previous appointment had gone badly. If this is any reflection of the company and how it does business, may God help its customers. To avoid well-known issues associated with pressure-treated pine, I asked for specific materials and installation details, including certain post spacing. Instead of discussing those options professionally, he repeatedly gave inaccurate information about the materials, specifications, and installation methods. When I challenged those claims, he became argumentative and insisted that his way was the proper way to do it. Eventually, he angrily said, "That is not how we do business," turned his back, and left. His overall attitude and behavior were what I would expect from an office temp with a bad attitude.
I am glad it was over before it even started. Based on my experience, I would be concerned that if you have an issue with this company in the future, you will likely be on your own. Do your research and make sure the right materials and installation methods are being used. Otherwise, a few years down the road, sagging, warping, bowing, rotting, or other problems will ruin your days while wasting thousands of dollars of your hard-earned money.
As a side note, I have recently started to question the accuracy of Google reviews. Some companies actively solicit reviews from customers they expect to be satisfied, while seemingly avoiding the same solicitation from customers who may leave negative feedback. This can naturally bias the ratings toward positive experiences. I have chosen businesses based on excellent Google reviews and later found them misleading. This company is a prime example. Its Yelp reviews are vastly different and, in my experience, much more representative. So, lesson learned: Do not make potentially costly decisions based on Google reviews alone, and do not contract this particular company.
