My roommates and I came here as a galentine's day celebration. The restaurant came well-reviewed and recommended by many friends, so we had high expectations, but Barrique met and exceeded them all. FOOD: Paccheri alla Norma (5/5) - The pasta was really good, but it was the only vegetarian pasta which was disappointing for my friend, who felt like she had very limited options on the menu as a vegetarian. However, the dish did not disappoint. She said it had a very good, tomato-infused flavor and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Having lived in Italy for a number of months, she was also impressed that the restaurant as a whole felt authentically Italian. Quail ragu (5/5) - Of course, how could we not get the signature dish? This pasta was unique and unlike anything I've ever tasted. The tender beet pasta is covered in a sticky, light sauce that first hits a little sweet then ends on a savory note. The quail meat was good as well, though some bites were a little dry. The fondue sauce was definitely the star of this pasta, and the dish overall lives up to the hype. Rabbit ragu tagliatelle (5/5) - I actually think this was my favorite dish of the night. The long, wide pasta tasted impossibly fresh and perfectly al dente. The rabbit meat was soft, tender, and perfectly seasoned as well, and the sauce was super unique and savory. This may be one of the best pasta dishes that I've ever had. Panna cotta (4/5) - The sauce was amazing, but the panna cotta itself was a little bit too sweet. The texture was nice and I thoroughly enjoyed it, however it was too sweet for my personal preference and I probably wouldn't have been able to finish it on my own. read more

Wow. I have no words to describe how much we loved Barrique. If I could leave 10 stars, I would. I'll admit, I was a little hesitant at first glance of the menu but was blown away by the service, ambiance, and every bite was absolutely delectable. From the moment we were greeted by the extremely welcoming and accommodating hostess, to the attentive manager/wait staff, to the comped wine with dessert "just because", we knew this place was special. A perfect combo and quantity for our table of three hungry dudes weighing between 160 and 185 pounds. Main courses. Beet pasta with meat sauce (al dente). Should have ordered another one. This was the WINNER. Just WOW. Then the veal shank. Okay. Medium rare and scrumptious. Long mushrooms sealed the deal with that dish. Crispy, salty, rich, and tender. Penne with vodka cream sauce. Classic and beautiful. Dessert. Cheesecake. Then a port flan-like and creamy item (forget the name), and a triple layered tiramisu-style masterpiece. Finished off with some espresso. DON'T YOU DARE NOT ORDER AN ESPRESSO. The hostess was so nice and did a great job despite the place being PACKED. Emilio our server was knowledgeable, passionate, funny, and just an all around great Italian dude. If it's your first time, just leave the order up to him. He will take care of you, I promise. And last but a million percent not least, the manager Matt Daly was the star of the show. Touched the table consistently, made sure everything tasted great, and even got us some champagne while we waited for our table. This guy ran the place the right way. My favorite dish of the night was probably the seabass. The vegetables were soft and lightly sweet, and sauce was citrus-y but not overpowering. The dish was refreshing yet substantial. Other than that, pastas were just above average, and similar to most decent upscale Italian restaurants in LA. Cocoa tagliatelle sounded interesting, but disappointingly, it wasn't far from regular tagliatelle. The dry-aged rib eye was tougher than I expected, and the sear had barely created a crust. The place is really dark, and we had to ask for extra candles to see our food. Came for early Valentine's Day dinner. I pass by this place everyday for 7 years when i lived in Venice and didn't know it was a restaurant. Finally got a chance to eat here and from reception till the end of the meal was top notch. We started the meal with the Scallops which were perfectly cooked and seasoned. We then ordered 2 pasta dishes well actually just 1 at first which is the Squid Ink Pasta, we heard the chef explaining to the people next to us that the Red Beet Tagliatelle is his signature dish - so we ordered it too and I'm so glad we did - that dish was sublime. Really good and we are definitely going back just for that. We also got the Filet Mignon and this was probably one of the best I've ever had except I would ask them to have the sauce on the side. Went in for the last night of DineLA. We were treated to a very nice table by Matt. Our waiter was a very distinguished Italian server Emilio. Our biggest disappointment was that they were out of the grilled octopus salad. My sister and I split the squid ink linguine with wild mushrooms and lobster, memorable! My wife did the DineLA menu, got the burrata with prosciutto, I had a taste, it was very good. For the main course my sister got the halibut, I got the veal chop on special, my wife got the beet pasta with quail-she absolutely loved it. Dessert-my sister got the amaretto ice cream with pieces of amaretto cookie, I got the hazelnut crunch with white and dark chocolate mousse, my wife got the ricotta cheesecake. The pasta here is excellent! It's a cute place with a nice cozy ambiance. They have $10 valet if you are unable to find parking on the street. The restaurant itself is a yellow house which is easy to spot while driving by. The dishes are pretty pricey but it's definitely worth it. It feels very authentic Italian. I was seated outside and there were candles at each table as our source of light which is great. Service is amazing and they're very friendly and helpful. Food comes out in a timely manner at a nice pace. Everything my group ordered was exceptional. I had the tagliolini rossi which was excellent! It comes on top of a cheese fondue which you need to mix in with the noodles when you get it. The pasta noodles were al dente and the sauce is pretty rich. This is an unassuming gem in the heart of Venice. Totally cute "third date" kind of place where you are going to spend a pretty penny to have one of the best meals ever. Amazing menu and wine list. Get the Octopus and Prosciutto/Burrata appetizers to start. Octopus was perfectly tender and charred. Plate full of so much prosciutto that it felt like a meal on its own. We ordered rabbit ragu pasta and the duck breast. Both were delicious. Duck was cooked to perfection and so decadent that I didn't have any regrets choosing duck over the tempting rib-eye. It wasn't the least bit gamey, but tasted like a steak instead. I will have dreams of it for sure. I cheated on my Keto diet by having a fork full of the rabbit ragu because I HAD TO taste it...and then I took another fork full because it was worth the cheat. I have to go back and try everything. Seriously. Waiter was hospitable and made excellent recommendations. My only complaint of the whole night would be the bread. I'm almost embarrassed to say that it's taken me this long to finally check out Barrique, and to say the very least the wonderful service and environment are paired with really strong Italian cuisine. To top it all off, they're back open post-COVID and provided a safe and clean dining experience. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? As others have pointed out, a trip to Barrique is as if you're joining a friend for dinner at their house. The space is, quite literally, a converted house, and they've filled it with fast and friendly servers that weave in and out of the abundant indoor, outdoor, and upstairs seating. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Barrique isn't cheap, but nor should it be. Entrees will dabble on both sides of the $30 line once you bring in specials, but the portions really are generous and larger than what you'll find elsewhere. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? I went with the Truffle Fettuccine special of the day along with a octopus salad to start, and both dishes were very good. The octopus was a bit chewy but the unique salad carried the dish, and the Fettuccine was standard but with a welcome generous portion of shaved truffle. Single Star. My favorite restaurant in all of the West Coast. Maybe all of the country - and my yelp records don't show it but I'm a huge foodie and I've eaten a lot from Boston to New York to LA. I came to Barrique two days ago for my birthday. It was my third time there and I've kind of nailed what my favorite dishes are there now. You can't go wrong with the core 2 from their main menu that I always get and look forward to having: capesante alla griglia con fonduta- the truffles scallops (appetizer); the red beet tagliolini with quail ragu (pasta) . This time, we got all three options off of the specials, which seem to be often available since we realized after getting them that we'd had them before. For starters we got the prosciutto burrata salad with figs which was so scrumptious; for pasta we added to the tagliolini with the truffle linguini (was a great balance since this pasta was much lighter albeit coated in delicious truffle oil); and finally for mains my boyfriend and I shared the trout (which is more like a salmon) and the roasted veggies on this were kind of the surprise that MADE the meal for me! For dessert, I got the panna cotta but after the 5 dishes we ordered, the cream was a bit too heavy and sweet - I wish it was more vanilla-y, nothing to write home about but still - the meal as a whole was the best I could have imagined for a quarantined birthday. Barrique has turned their outside patio into a beautiful set up to adhere to social distancing guidelines. Their employees are incredible respectful of space, and all PROPERLY WEAR THEIR MASKS over their nose and all the time - shouldn't be something to celebrate but in this country it seems so hard for most people that when you see it, it just warms the heart. The food is still excellent, and the scallops, beet pasta and duck remain excellent. That said, I am a little more discerning about things, especially the decor because it's fine during the summer when you can eat on the patio and it's still light out. But as the days shorten and cool, eating indoors here is a bit more challenging as the their room is very dark and a bit cramped, things I did not notice initially, because we were on the patio. They provide limited candles and want to maintain this vibe, but it is hard to see your food, and harder still to read the menus and pay the bill. That said, the food is still great, just know that the ambience is less than desirable, something that is easily fixable, should the owners choose to. Impeccable food and service with a romantically lit atmosphere. We came here with a reservation for Sunday night at 6pm and enjoyed one of the best Italian meals we've had in a while. Here's what we ordered: Crispy duck breast (medium done)- this was cooked perfectly with the outer layer crispy and the inside so tender and juicy! Seared scallops- scallops were sweet and fresh and the truffle was incredible. First our server Antonino was great, personable, and really went out of his way to give us exceptional service. He even found a specific wine that was more to my fiancés liking. The food... my goodness is absolutely delicious !!! We had the Prosciutto e Burrata and the grilled octopus. The prosciutto was delectable, they are not stingy with the portions and it's definitely shareable. The grilled octopus tastes SPECTACULAR. The combination of the potatoes, octopus, vegetables, and arugula was the dream team of food I didn't know I needed. For our entree we had Red Beet Tagliolini Pasta and The Pan Seared Filet Mignon. The food definitely tasted fresh and flavorful without being heavy. For dessert I had this vanilla bean custard with fresh fruit sauce and it was divine. The ambiance of the restaurant is very romantic and chill. We sat outdoors on the 2nd floor patio with candlelight and it was very beautiful. It's been three months since I've tried barrique but even now I can say this is one of the best meals I've ever had. I found barrique thanks to dineLA. After looking through menus of places around me/on the west side I felt theirs stood out as being unique and eclectic. We made reservations early before the dinner rush and the wait staff was amazing! They were relaxed and able to give us great recommendations for wine and food and were so attentive even when they got busy. Each dish seemed to be thoughtful and made with care. The octopus was cooked and charred perfectly and the balsamic on the tartar gave such a wonderful sweet addition. The pasta was so luscious and rich and the dessert with hazelnut was so light and crunchy. At the end we had some coffee as well and they even gave us a small amount of dessert wine on the house. For instance, everything needed to be ordered at once and a wine only list (well...one beer option, no cocktails.) Complementary bread and oil at the beginning. Just how Italian food was meant to be enjoyed. The venue is cute. It's a converted house with a small kitchen and it really felt like I was a guest in someone's home except I was paying a lot to eat there. Watercress Salad (14) was simple and small. Nothing special, but refreshing as expected Prosciutto e Burrata (19) was a better appetizer. Very generous portions of prosciutto and a a burrata that was firm, but surprisingly delicious with light seasoning Home-Made Red Beet Tagliolini Pasta (29) is a must get, cheesy heaven. It's the signature dish. Very expensive, but very good. Home-Made Black Ink Linguine (32) has a very strong seafood theme with lobster and mushrooms. Seafood lovers would enjoy this. Home-Made Cacao Tagliatelle (29) was meaty, but didn't stand out too much. There was a nice amount of boar that I was happy with For dessert: Panna Cotta (12) was too milky for me. It was like a cup of milk that had solidified Chocolate Moose (12) had a nice crunch on the bottom with 3 layers Barrique feels special because of the venue and how things are prepared and done. Came here the day after Valentines Day for a belated Valentines dinner and had the best experience! Valet was $10 ($12 if credit card). The outdoor patio space had heaters and lights that made the ambiance very romantic. Starter: Pan seared scallops with black truffle 5/5 It came with two fat and juicy scallops in an amazing cheesy sauce with shaved black truffle. They were sooo good, just wish there were more scallops! Entree: Red beet pasta with quail ragu 5/5 The ragu was soo flavorful and the pasta was a beautiful red color, but didn't tasted normal, not like beets. Could not get enough of this dish! Highly recommend. Entree: Veal chop 4/5 This was on the specials menu for the night. My date got this dish and he liked it. It was my first time having veal and it was very tender! The broccolini was flavorful in the olive oil, carrots were buttery, and the mashed potatoes paired well. Only thing was the server never mentioned the price so it came out to be a little pricer than expected ($59). It was good, but for the price, I would've picked another pasta dish (the black ink linguine with lobster or dungness crab sounded amazing too and was another highly recommended dish) over the veal. They're known for their pastas so I feel like that's what I'd go for as they're more unique. Dessert: Pistachio Creme Brûlée 4.5/5 I forgot the actual name of this on the menu, but it's a vanilla custard with pistachios. So flavorful and creamy. The pistachio sauce and nuts added to it. A little heavy after a few bites but that's expected for a creme brulee. Wine: They had a small list for wines by the glass (only 5 reds...they really want you to buy a bottle) so we got the two boldest (barolo and amarone). They were both really good wines, but would've liked to see more options on the menu (like a Cab). Overall, such a great date night spot! During this COVID-19 time, the restaurant sets up outdoor dining which added extra romantic vibes and charms to the dining scene. With candle lights, we felt the food tasted extra delicious. We came here to celebrate our daughter's birthday and the restaurant was extra accommodating as we arrived earlier than our reservation time. The service was excellent. We were given recommendations with wine and food selection. We ordered two appetizers that included their famous Grilled Octopus served with Smoked potato, Green Beans and an Aioli Dressing. The flavor was so pleasing to our taste palates. The other appetizer we got was the 18-Months Black Label Prosciutto di Parma and Burrata Cheese. I have to say this one of the best prosciutto dish I have ever had. The prosciutto was perfectly cured and flavor was unbelievably delicious. For our main dishes, I got the Homemade Pappardelle noodle served with Rabbit Ragu' Prunes and Porcini Sauce. The pasta was cooked al dente to my liking which is an indication or authentic Italian cooking. The taste of the sauce was out of this world. The rest of the family ordered Home-Made Red Beet Tagliolini Pasta in a Marsala Quail Ragú served on a bed of Taleggio Cheese Fondue, Home-Made Black Ink Linguine sautéed with Lobster and Wild Mushrooms, and the Home-Made Cacao Tagliatelle with an Amarone Wild Boar Ragú. These are all fabulous dishes. My family liked them a lot and gave praises for their flavor and taste. We didn't get any desserts as we had a cake at home for the birthday celebration. My friend wanted to take me here for my birthday but because of COVID-19, we did Takeout instead. Now, this was my first visit, and so I'm sure once I get to dine inside my score would change. For now, this is based on my first takeout experience on Tuesday, 5/12/20. Prosciutto e Burrata $19: I love prosciutto so I was hoping to find a restaurant that would carry a very salty kind. I'm not upset but this isn't one of the restaurants that carries a very salty and thick cut of prosciutto. Though, I give them credit on the very generous serving of their nicely aged ham and flavors of the cheese they used. There was a fair amount of everything in this appetizer. I've never had this cheese before so I didn't know how to eat it, which I thought would be easy to separate with a knife or fork a piece of it off but that didn't happen. This portion is a good share between 2-3 ppl for lunch or dinner. Tagliolini Ragu: I enjoyed the mix of flavors of this sauce very much, the pasta noodles were delicious but the texture I would say it easily sticks together making it hard to get a little bit of everything in one bite. I hope there's some way they can keep the noodles from sticking together as I was trying to share this dish and it just was hard time pulling it apart. It was even better as a leftover. This pasta alone could feed me 2 large servings because of the pasta texture but doing nice sized portions I had, it can easily split with 3-4 people who just want to taste and try a little bit of everything, but if it's for someone that's having an actual dinner then 1-2 people for a reasonable entree to share. Slowly Braised Bonelss Short Ribs (for 2): I really wish this was even better when you take it home, but over all the sauce was really good, and I hoped the meat was tender and not overcooked or over dry (due to reheating it, I assume that's the only reason for it being a bit tough on a few pieces) but definitely enjoyed the mashed potatoes, if needed no extra seasoning (salt or pepper) and there was enough sauce to keep the braised shorts ribs moist enough. Now, the portions on this was well done, just eyeing it in the to go container I swore there wasn't going to be enough food for myself. Though, I was able to get fair servings of meat on my plate with a few spoonfuls of mashed potatoes and bit of the sauce dripped over the meat as well. I was able to serve myself 3x and sharing this dish alone with 2 other boys. Servings for this if sharing with friends would be good for 3-4 people, as entree 2-3 ppl. Maybe needs another dollop of mashed potatoes. Overall, the customer service was great! Tried to eliminate as much contact as possible but hard to do when you're a people person. I would have loved to try their dessert for my birthday here but I think I'll have to save that for another visit when I can check out the inside of this place. The food, despite it needed to be reheated (only got food, not prosciutto), then the food was delicious and I would love to return back here again. We weren't provided napkins or utensils, not sure if my friend who made the phone order requested or was asked if he needed those items, but good to know they pack all your nicely in a bag for you with a specific pick-up time and they're so on top of it once you get there. Barrique is one of my favorite Italian spots in all of Los Angeles. Located in Venice, it features a cozy ambiance with excellent service. The restaurant is physically a little yellow house, which makes it a unique dining experience. It's a low lit and a calm atmosphere, perfect for a couples night out. The service is phenomenal and extremely friendly. They explain anything you may have concerns about or need further clarification. The food comes out in a timely fashion and they space out the courses at a comfortable pace. For food, everything is delicious. It's not one of these Americanized Italian places, it's an authentic Italian food experience. The best dish has to be the home made red beet tagliolini pasta in a marsala quail ragu. It's honestly some of the best pasta I've had, and competes with the pasta I had in Italy. As for appetizers I recommend the tuna tartare or the prosciutto and burrata. Overall, Barrique is a must try for me. You have to experience it for urself, you won't regret it. The food, the service, the ambiance, all top tier.
