Brat with brew pub fries and rojo ale
    Nate A.

A definite upgrade from the previous restaurant here. The ambiance was that of an airport lounge which makes sense given the location but did not have the energy you might be looking for in a brewery of this type. Excellent fresh beer options on tap, the Rojo ale was definitely a good choice. Food was what you would expect for a place like this. The brat was slightly overcooked on a dry bun but for the price point it really wasn't a major issue. If you're in the area it's worth a try as it's a different concept compared to other offerings in the area.

Cool little spot tucked into the airport. Their IPAs are always great - I had a Citrazona and a Hipsterville. Ice cold and super tasty! Food was average, nothing to complain about but also nothing memorable. I got a southwest chicken panini with fries - kind of dry and probably would order something else if we came back. The service was good - quick but not overly friendly. Overall it was a so so experience - would maybe come back for a beer if I was in the area again but pass on the food.

    Great craft brews...raspberry wheat!

3.5 stars... Decided to stay a bit more north this trip to the hot box, and Yelp led me here. No, you aren't lost... it's in an airport! Cool little joint, and don't worry about TSA, because there is none.. Raspberry wheat was the beer, and a Reuben was the grub... well seasoned pastrami and a firm kraut atop a thick bread, which in my opinion should have been on the flat top to get crusty. Served with fries, which had to be replaced...limpy! Great beer selection, though I only stayed for one. Ambiance is industrial layover, service was prompt and friendly, and prices were ok. If I stay up north again I'll pop back in because there was alot more of interest for both good and beer menus, and the views are great!!

Planes, brews, and good food Barrio Brewing is Arizona's oldest brewery, founded in 1991 in Tucson. They have their main taproom restaurant in Tucson, another at Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport, and this month, they opened at the Deer Valley Airport in North Phoenix. There's lots of indoor seating, two tvs behind the bar, and a tabletop shuffleboard. Our favorite part is that they kept the model planes that hung in the previous restaurant. It's nostalgic, and kids love them. Currently, you can't take alcohol outside up on the deck, but hopefully, they'll get that license. Most of the seating has great views of the runway through the large windows anyways. I really enjoyed my Barrio bacon jam sliders with the upgrade to beer battered fries. Not that they needed it, but the sliders and fries were even better with the tasty buttermilk ranch. (If you're someone who judges by the ranch...this is a winner.) The kids' meals included an entree, side, and drink for only $7. They were good portions and my daughter was excited for "real" Mac and cheese that wasn't just kraft. Everything else was very reasonably priced, including the happy hour menu. Our bill for two adults and two kids was $72, including an appetizer, cocktail, and beer. That's a great price that's hard to come by when eating out nowadays. The food truly was fresh and very good, so the price was an added bonus. Our server Michael was also very friendly and attentive. After your meal, be sure to head outside and up to the deck. There are plastic tables and chairs under shade to watch the planes come and go. Speakers overhead let you listen to the tower communicating with the pilots. With the flight school on property, there is plenty of activity, and the kids love seeing "pilots" walk around. We have some great memories here over the years between awaiting Santa by helicopter and also building airplanes as a homeschool lesson years ago. So I'm pretty excited to have a restaurant here again!

Amazing service, venue and food for my toddler's birthday party! Asa and his team provided excellent service, from set up, service, and clean up. Highly recommend this hidden gem for your kids next party as the plane watching plus the great restaurant is a fun combination for kids of all ages! The space itself is new and clean, unpretentious, bright and welcoming! The food was delicious, the portions so generous, and the service was so friendly and accommodating!

Good staff. Bad pub food. Weak mixed drinks. Watching planes is nice. Was sad to see another place that will not make it.

If it's your first visit, the AZ Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich is an absolute must. It's perfectly crispy with just the right amount of heat and packed with flavor in every bite. One of my favorite traditions is stopping by after work on Thursdays to take advantage of the $5 IPA special. It's the perfect way to unwind, catch up with friends, and enjoy some of Arizona's finest locally crafted beer. Whether you're there for the food, the beer, or the lively patio atmosphere, Arizona Wilderness never disappoints. If you're in the neighborhood--or even if you're not--it's well worth the visit. Highly recommended!

Made the long drive from Gilbert to see what the hype was about and let me say....that soft serve was WORTH IT! I got the swirl and it was soooooo refreshing and delicious. I have seen people comment that they were too strong (I don't see the problem or maybe some people don't really like tequila) but mine was perfect! Not strong at all. The only reason I didn't give this updated review a 5-I ordered the banh mi sando and the sandwich was so dry. Chicken was dry. The cilantro wasn't chopped I had to pick out long stems. Also I got the AZ frosè and the rosemary syrup was just way too pungent to enjoy the whole beverage. I wished it had been more balanced. Especially when the French fries are heavily seasoned with rosemary--a bit too much.

For me, it was a big hike up to the north side- but totally worth the haul! I grew up in the Midwest, occasionally going to one or two German restaurant/ clubs, so this was not an unfamiliar atmosphere to me. It is definitely a "seasoned" vibe, having immediately taken over the space by a former western bar/beer hall that had been in existence for 50+ years. Their menu says "German and Hungarian" but all I read was German. They have a solid European beer selection, including taps and bottles and some cocktails with a German twist. The one that threw me for a loop (in the best way) was Kriek! So ofc I got a pint. We shared a (fairly large) pretzel to start, which comes with beer cheese. Tasty, but I was genuinely shocked there was no mustard. I ordered the jagerschnitzel (pork) and just overall the meal was as expected as if I was in the Midwest - amazing, delicious, insert chef's kiss. I wish I could have joined the clean plate club. The cucumber salad was flavorful and not too sour/pickley. My friend and I both noted how umami the savory sauce was- not too bacon, not too mushroom. The potatoes were not too salty or under-seasoned. Literally willing to drive up again if/when someone tells me to go. It wasn't horribly busy so it didn't take forever to order and get everything we needed. Our server was super nice and patient. She even gave a bar suggestion that ended up being a nice cherry for the top of the evening.

We passed AZ Wilderness and saw how busy they were so we stopped at Greenwood as they were less busy and we had never tried their beer before. My parents prefer IPA's and are tough critics, however, they liked the IPA's so much they bought a pack to take home. I'm not a huge beer drinker so I ordered the seltzer on tap and it was good + refreshing. My husband also ordered the Mango Lassi and loved it. We spoke to the staff member on site who I believe said they've been around for 6 years or so. Greenwood definitely deserves more hype as not only were their beers good but they have cute seating arrangements with an open courtyard. Definitely give Greenwood a try if you find yourself going to Downtown Phoenix!

One of the highlights was chatting with Dan, who has been bartending for eight years. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions about the brewing process and the brewery itself. It's clear he enjoys what he does and takes pride in sharing information with customers. I also learned that the brewery was founded by Megan Greenwood, and it's impressive to see how her vision has grown into a well-known local brewery. The brewing operation includes seven tanks, giving visitors a glimpse into the production side of the business. For anyone interested in seeing more behind the scenes, Greenwood Brewing does offer brewery tours. There isn't a set tour schedule, so it's best to ask staff about availability when you visit. One feature I thought was especially cool was the live Instagram follower counter displayed behind the bar. Watching the number update in real time was a fun and unique touch that added to the brewery's modern, community-focused atmosphere. The atmosphere was welcoming, the staff was engaging, and it was fun getting a closer look at the brewing process while enjoying quality craft beer. A great stop for both locals and visitors looking to support a Phoenix- Women owned brewery. The vibes are chill & semi-loud with music playing in the background. They have seating on both sides of the brewery, outside seating & local restaurants QR codes to order food from. IG: greenwood Brewing
