It is a great spot. New and upcoming area. A bit loud but all in all a good experience.

This location in Chandler is huge with both inside and outside seating for a very comfortable experience. They also feature live music with local And some traveling artists. You won't find anyone famous here but solid musicians none the less. The only knock is we have found the service to be consistently slow. Just a little off as if the servers have too Many tables. We do still recommend though - an all around solid spot.

To give credit where it's due, the ambience of the restaurant was great. The live music was enjoyable and the dancing created a fun atmosphere. The women's restroom was also impressive -- clean, well stocked, and the mirror with the neon sign made for a great photo moment. Unfortunately, the service and food did not live up to the setting. Our waitress appeared overwhelmed and, at times, came across as outright rude. I understand the pressures of working in a busy restaurant, but hospitality is still the foundation of the service industry. I actually found myself going out of my way to "kill her with kindness" just to avoid receiving the same snarky tone she used with some of my friends. It worked -- she was civil with me -- but it shouldn't take that level of effort from guests. The food was where things really fell apart. The buffet setup was poorly executed. The foil buffet pans repeatedly slipped into the chafing water, which ended up soaking the food. Any experienced food service professional knows the proper way to handle this: bring the replacement pan first and swap them out simultaneously. Instead, the staff removed the empty pans and walked back to the kitchen, leaving empty slots in the buffet while guests waited. As a result, several dishes were compromised. The mac and cheese was completely runny, clearly diluted from water getting into the pan. This happened to multiple items. The fried pickles were also a miss -- not crispy, extremely salty and sour, and tasted like low-quality hamburger dill pickle chips that had been breaded and fried. No one at our table enjoyed them and several people commented that they were far too tangy. There also seemed to be serious communication issues between the kitchen and the floor staff. Buffet items were frequently empty and slow to be replaced. The "salad," if you could call it that, was essentially a bowl of lettuce with no tomatoes, cucumbers, or vegetables -- just plain greens. Toward the end of service, the restaurant even ran out of dinner plates, leaving remaining guests to use small salad plates. The only items I somewhat enjoyed were the margarita pizza flatbread and the bacon jalapeño wontons, which were decent but nothing memorable. Beyond that, my meal consisted mostly of a bowl of very uninspired lettuce. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, it genuinely pains me to leave such a critical review. I don't write this out of spite, but out of hope that management sees it as an opportunity to evaluate what's happening on the floor and in the kitchen. There is clearly potential here given the atmosphere and entertainment. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I don't see myself returning anytime soon.

The cocktails were good. The servings were good sized and three of us took home part of our meals. The prices were fair and i would order the same again. Now the not so Good: It was difficult to find. We ended up parking a fair distance away. There was not room for us (6) indoors.... I'll know next time to reserve a table. The patio was dirty, bird dropping all over the railings and floors. It felt like lunchroom aftermath. I would have really appreciated a cushion on the mesh metal chairs. Being outside led to slow and forgotten service. There were some timing problems with our drinks and appetizers (forgotten). Then they showed up about two minutes before the salads and entrees. Our server took full responsibility and that was awesome. It seems like a great place... just a few tweaks will take it up a notch. String some lights , put some paraphernalia on the tables. Maybe even some bread.

From the moment you walk in, the elegant décor sets the tone beautifully, blending warmth and sophistication with a tasteful nod to its Asian culinary roots. What truly sets Dao Kitchen apart, though, is the staff. Candice is exceptional -- the kind of person who turns great service into a lasting impression. She greets us with a smile that feels sincere every time, remembers our favorite dishes, our preferred sauces, our drinks, and even the little details that make us feel like more than just customers. That level of care is rare, and it means so much. It's obvious that the manager takes real pride in building a team that values hospitality, and that pride shows in every part of the experience. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, beautifully presented, and generously portioned. Every dish feels prepared with care, and every visit reminds us why we keep coming back. For us, Dao Kitchen is more than a place to eat -- it's a place that leaves us smiling, appreciated, and already looking forward to the next visit. Thank you to Candice, the manager, and the entire Dao Kitchen team for making each experience so memorable. You have more than earned our loyalty.

Smallish eat in restaurant in a strip mall on Carefree Hwy near the I17…read more Got there at 6 pm and all 12 tables but one were filled, mostly with seniors. Almost all were gone by 6:30. Brisk take out business. The two of us were seated at a table for 10! The only table left. Fried wontons and sweet and sour sauce were brought to the table. We ordered the vegetable egg rolls as an appetizer. Huge, piping hot and no peanut paste which as someone with a peanut allergy I'm grateful for, to say the least. Had the beef chow fun, sesame chicken and BBQ pork egg fu yung. Waitress commented...that's a lot of food for the two of you. She was right. The portions are gigantic. Could easily feed six people. Beef chow fun was good. Wide rice noodles and beef that had some texture and chew to it. Not tough, but not so tenderized that the texture is mush. Sesame chicken is excellent. Plating is poor though. It's just the sesame chicken. They could have added a sprig of broccoli and julienned carrots just for a better visual and contrast. Egg fu yung. The east coast style. Not sure what the deal is out here in Phoenix but most places make an egg patty and put the ingredients on the top. Pretty awful. Not at Dao. They make it the right way with fluffy egg patties and the ingredients INSIDE the patty. BBQ pork was there...but not enough to my liking. Three huge patties. Sauce isn't your typical "brown" goopy sauce though. It's more like a plum sauce. Different. But good. Overall, definitely one of the better Chinese restaurants in the Phoenix area. Overall cost was $55 with a beer. And a ton of food. Had two more meals from it at home. Downside? I had to ask the server for spoons. How were we supposed to get the food from the serving plates to our plate? Fried rice is very poor. Rice in a tiny bit of soy sauce and some microscopic egg. Disappointing. Add some diced veggies at least and bean sprouts. Lots of containers for the leftovers, of course. Overall, we'll come back. Huge improvement on what most Chinese restaurants in the Valley are.
