So impressed with this hidden off the street nursery on Santa Fe Dr in Encinitas. It is so unique and creatively laid out in a multi level artistic way... it makes for a adventure just walking the paths. They have many specimen plants and a large variety of rare succulents at very good prices. The owners and the staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, caring and helpful if you need assistance. It is truly inspirational to visit. They carry a large variety of indoor plants that could be given as gifts as well as pots to put them in. Off to the side is consignment shop where hand crafted items, collectibles and misc is on display. A nice place to pick up a special gift for someone or yourself. Out side you will see among the landscape different consignors garden art that is available for sale to enhance your yard. Cute hidden nursery with plantings and pottery. The staff members have been consistently friendly and knowledgeable when it comes to asking detailed gardening questions. They only have one kind of mulch, compost, potting soil by E.B. Stone Organics which simplifies things for the consumer since I have used those same products in the past with success. What is different is that they sell this soil booster which worked quite well when I needed to reseed patches of my lawn. read more

Okay so the wife and I are going to do some serious planting soon. Succulents and VERY low water plants. Decided based on reviews to give this place a visit. Parking is a bit janky but found a spot and proceeded in. First impression was good as there were some neat low water planting schemes right up front. Unfortunately the trip went downhill from there. Not much is priced. Every now and again I would find a price on the container but not often enough. There were employees (I think I saw 3) and NOT ONE OF THEM SAID ANYTHING to us! Not a Hello! Not a can we help you? NOTHING. We left. Won't be back. Won't recommend. We are ready to spend money but apparently Barrels and Branches doesn't need or want any of it. read more

My friend and I came here recently to pick up some baby aloe plants. Definitely worth the drive as all of the plants here are well taken care of and are healthy as hell :) They let you pot your own plants with their mulch and pebbles for free. Love to just go walk thru, even brought my parents last time they came up for lunch:-) have gotten a lot of neat plants here, trying their veggies for the first time this season as they are competitively priced. We recently hosted a Bridal Shower at Barrels & Branches for 18 people. The event space overlooks the nursery and is absolutely gorgeous. The space comes with a large farmhouse table and two farmhouse benches. There are also high top tables in the event space made out of barrels. The venue was perfect for a garden/floral themed event and was reasonably priced. Zoey, the event coordinator, was easy to work with. She provided a list of preferred vendors. We selected a caterer from her list of preferred vendors; like the space, the caterer was fantastic. Many of our guests commented that they have lived in San Diego for years but had never heard of the venue. Our bride and guests were so impressed by everything, especially the ambiance of the space. I love this place! They have everything you need for your gardening and decretive plant needs and they landscape! Not only does Barrels and Branches have a super knowledgeable/friendly staff there is also a nice uncluttered flow to the few acre space with a lil cottage for my tiny one to play in while I looked around. I will say I brought my Dad here who happens to be a 40+ year veteran in the nursery business and he was impressed which says a lot. Truly THE hidden gem of Encinitas!!! Just walking around the nursery is like being in a botanical gardens, it is always perfectly merchandised which makes it not only enjoyable but also really helpful when you're trying to visualize what something is going to look like in your space. They have a great selection of specimen plants and succulents and the staff couldn't be more helpful. If you haven't checked it out yet, definitely stop into this magical place! Found out about this place from Instagram and decided to check it out. Wow! Such a beautiful space and so many wonderful plants to chose from. I had a lot of fun shopping their sale section and got quite a few very good priced succulents. I also left with a rain chain and close to 15 plants. found this place while driving by, and was floored at their selection! I have a small obsession with succulents, and wanted to use them as centerpieces for my upcoming wedding. Samantha was so helpful, and the cost was so reasonable that i ended up getting some extra for our yard! i love the large arrangements, and it's perfect for our California drought requirements. After far too long, I visited the beautiful Barrels & Branches nursery. I was greeted and helped by a friendly and knowledge staff member named Tari. She explained the layout and let me know she was there to help me if need be. I wandered around for over an hour and was very impressed by the wide variety of vegetable plants, fruit trees, succulents, pottery, and the prices. Most were very reasonable. I purchased 8 different vegetable plants and a few different succulents, all for @ $35. I will definitely go back for more. I also enjoyed seeing the little cat relaxing on the grounds :) read more

The B&B in Barrels and Branches should stand for Better and Better. Have been going to this nursery for 5 years and it has indeed gotten better and better over those 5 years. The owners are knowledgeable and helpful. The gardens are just delightful. They even have handmade pottery - unique pieces by local artists. There is a little bit of beauty in this place for everyone. The fact that the nursery is locally owned by two talented yound women just adds to the flavor. Samantha and the whole staff at Barrels and Branches are super knowledgeable and great at what they do! I needed some plants installed to give me some privacy from my noisy neighbors. Samantha recommended some great plants which grow quick and dense. They are still coming in but looking good. I first found Barrels and Branches through a Living Social deal. The nursery is a bit hidden from the road and, though I had driven past many times, I'd never noticed their sign. They offer an outstanding variety of plants, including specimen plants not found at other local nurseries as well as drought-tolerant plants. They nursery is laid out in a way that also inspires gardening creativity, integrating pots, fountains and other hardscaping features. I've now been to Barrels and Branches several times and find the owners and staff consistently friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. After living in Encinitas for over 10 years, I'm happy to have finally found a local nursery that meets all of my organic gardening needs with excellent customer service to boot! read more

Samantha and her staff created the most beautiful summer evening wedding site for my daughter's wedding! The short ceremony was held on the lower garden area against a beautiful backdrop of ocean blue pottery overflowing with succulents. The reception was on the newly remodeled upper level with tasteful shade sails and beautiful lighting covering the dining area. Guests meandered throughout the beautiful grounds accented with professional lighting and enjoyed the personal photos the bride and groom stowed in among the mini gardens. The balcony and gazebo allowed guests to flow from the main bar to the dance floor to the upper bar with ease. Samantha was so accommodating and had such great design ideas that we simply could not have done it without her! Best of all, my daughter grabbed me on the dance floor during the reception and exclaimed "It's more beautiful than I ever imagined!" This nursery is a hidden gem for almost any event. read more
