Is it possible to "price gouge" tacos? During these tough times, our family has made every effort to patronize local businesses. We landed on Barra as our taco night destination this evening and couldn't have been more disappointed in the tab we were left with. Way overpriced for food that was mediocre and underwhelming at very best. As much as it pains me to write this, it's ridiculously pricey for what you get and if you're planning on ordering takeout...try OH Taco right around the corner. The food is better, and the prices are much more reasonable. read more

This used to be the best place to eat at in the Sandusky but it has taken a steep decline in service and quality of food. I don't know if they lost employees during the pandemic or if they stretched themselves to thin opening new restaurants an hour away but it has drastically effected their business. The last year I have been multiple times and each time it gets slightly worse. Today I was waiting for an online order that was suppose to be done on a certain time. The bigger lady with glasses said it isn't done yet it will be up soon, granted I was early so no worries. I'm waiting and another lady with black hair gives me an order. Luckily I checked it in my car it was the complete wrong order. I take it back and say that's not my order, no sorry she just looked at me like I was dumb and asked if my name was something that sounds nothing like my name. She takes the food that was already in my car and I opened it in the back and brings it back out only to give to the actual guy that ordered it(seems like a health code violation to me). Then I have to wait another 15 mins only for me to notice my order was on the bar she(dark haired hostess) was standing next to. So instead of her walking the extra two steps where she knew I was standing and waiting to give me my food it sat on the bar until I had to grab it myself. I get back to my house to realize these idiots also didn't get my order right and if someone puts "on the side" it means on the side not in to go containers on top of my bowl. These last four experiences have completely ruined this place for me. I won't be returning. I feel bad for the owner because he is a super nice guy and his employees are some brain dead zombies with the personality of a brick. read more

The perch tacos are heaven. Huge pieces of perch perfectly cooked laying on a bed of Barra slaw topped with aioli sauce. Full of flavor. All the textures and flavors balanced to perfection. The guacamole was fresh but I look forward to trying some of the other tacos and skip the tortilla chips all together my next visit. Way to full to try anything else. I did get a taste of the wonderful clam chowder so yummy. I don't like spicy foods usually but it was not overwhelming and again lots of flavor. Our server was attentive kind and patient even though it was rather late. My 12 year old son also really enjoyed his food. read more

Ate here twice over the summer and was impressed both times. Good was generous in size and consistent. Prices were incredibly reasonable. Service and atmosphere also impressive. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because they were on an 11/2 wait for dinner one night. But otherwise, perfect. read more

I had one of the most well constructed Tacos I've ever had here. At first I was skeptical of the prices, but you get what you pay for. The service was great, the food was great and I was impressed that a place like this is thriving in downtown Sandusky. Will definitely be back. read more

Artistic taco theme. Fresh ingredients. So good! One of our favorite places! Downside- restaurant is small and gets really busy. Try to go a little off hour so you can really enjoy! read more

Visited Barra on a trip and so glad we did. Great prices. Great decode. Entire family enjoyed their food. Chili Manhattan was delicious! Service was terrific. read more

We visited this restaurant while visiting Sandusky on vacation. The restaurant is small and trendy. The food was delicious, fresh and very affordable. Service was attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place!! read more

Great food and a great atmosphere. Tried the Cobb salad, it was delicious and worth the cost. The staff was quick with seating and on top of clean up to seat the next waiting customer. Will definitely be back! read more

Absolutely amazing tacos. And I mean AMAZING! We were there for Cedar point and thought we'd try it out. There aren't many places to sit and they were almost full, but the seats were comfy and the atmosphere is cute. The wait staff was nice and attentive. The tacos are honestly some of the best I've ever had, and I am super snobby about my fusion tacos. The child's steak quesadilla was also delicious. Must stop! read more

Great service! Great Tacos! Great prices! You can't beat it! Love the decor! However, the new Barra in Amherst is nothing compared to Sanduskys. The music was loud and the service was slower paced. I found it hard to have conversations with the people at my table without having to yell. I only say this on the Sandusky Barra because I would suggest going to Sandusky's Barra over Amherst, and it's so new that it's not on Yelp yet. read more

So, I was kinda skeptical coming here. Most Mexican food places in Sandusky are mediocre at best, but this was amazing. The chorizo tacos were just the perfect balance of spicy and savory! read more

This place is amazing. Great food and nice atmosphere. The tacos and street corn were both fantastic. Good to see nice places in downtown Sandusky! read more

What a find! Helpful staff and great food to satisfy our gluten free and dairy free needs. Bacon appetizer then tacos or soup and salad. You can't go wrong. I only wish we lived here so it would be easier to come back. read more

Barra is my favorite place to eat downtown. 5stars across the board. Will keep coming back!!

This is in defense of Barra and other eating establishments, and no I don't know the owners. Nor do I own a restaurant. Restaurants are all struggling to serve so many people with so many different "allergies" "sensitivities" "medical conditions" "diets". And still trying to serve a menu that allows them to purchase all the different food items to keep on hand as well as have pantry and cooler space to store them, Not to mention the labor it takes to produce all the different foods and (heaven forbid) try to make money! I have been on specialized diets for many years, sometimes it's a diet, sometimes medical reasons and sometimes it has been very restrictive. Some places have had nothing, others I have eaten a meal but it wasn't enjoyable because it lackes flavor, esp. if I had them alter it for my needs. Others I can't eat from their menus at all. Sometimes eating out is not an option and I stay home. I however, do not expect any establishmnet to cater to my specific desires. If you can't find what you want at one place go someplace else or if your diet is so restrictive perhaps you can just stay home. Restaurants are turning themselves inside out trying to cater to all their patrons, that is what they are in the business to do, it just isn't possible in all cases. Just don't hold others responsible for your diet. Posting pictures of any menu item that you altered anywhere is not fair to the establishment. If it's not a regular unaltered menu item, they should not be responsible. Be greatful they tried to accommidate you, and chalk it up to your diet. This is a fabulous dining experience, something different in our town of boring chains. If you want some great flavors and unique to our town menu items, go to Barra. I found the owner to be very accommodating when I needed something different. The historic building is a lovely atmosphere to relax in and I will go back again and again. Barra, you are doing a fantastic job! read more

Trendy, well designed and delicious!! One note is that they say the corn tortillas are GF...I really don't think they are. I think they are a corn/flour blend. We ended up taking the stuff out of the tortillas and eating the filling by itself. But the flavor was so good we did not care!! Customer service was good- it's a very friendly town, and we were really happy to have this place around- ate there several times during our trip. read more

We were on vacation and took a chance on this place and we were so glad we did! The tacos were fantastic! Living in Texas, we eat lots of tacos, but these tacos really were great. I ate way too much, but I couldn't help it! Oh and the margaritas were great as well. We met the owner who was friendly and helpful. The wait staff was also very nice and provided great service. If you are a local...visit this great place often. If you are on vacation, visit this place while you are in town. Great! read more

This is probably the best taco place in Sandusky. The perch taco is to die for! Staff is friendly. I will definitely go back!

I recommend everyone try this small local restaurant. The food is always amazing and fresh with the service being even better.

The place has great atmosphere and my service was great. Their Casio and chips were excellent. The walleye taco was not good, bones and bad tasting. The carnitas taco was boring. Pricy for what you get. read more

The food was delicious, served quickly and reasonably priced. The problem was the waitress. We sat outside, a group of 4 women and one friend got a beer that was warm. We told the waitress twice about it but no offer to get a COLD beer or have the drink on the house. Boo! Not the way to handle this customer service situation. read more

Awesome. Great space, cool vibe, good music, friendly staff and incredible food and drinks. The queso blanco is a must. I had the walleye main which was really good...the slaw is an awesome side. read more

Very cool atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. We went on a Saturday night, around 8/830 and were seated immediately. Promptly waited on and didn't have to wait much for drinks/food! So good- will definitely come again, and bring more people!! read more

Food was ok. Service was slow. Overpriced in my opinion. Had the chorizo burger. It was awesome. Most likely wouldn't go back again.

I had really high hopes for this restaurant considering it is new to the area, and the menu is a little different than your standard taco restaurant. They have a nice variety of food options, and some different styles of tacos. However, I was pretty disappointed when the tacos came out. They were not filled at all! For the price, the taco wasn't worth it. The restaurant has a really cool vibe and is decorated nicely. The bar has a great selection-I was unimpressed with my margarita, though. Overall, the food and drink variety are on point, but I didn't think the quality was worth the price. It's in a great location though! read more

I'm updating my review...after going back a few times, they have raised the bar, so I'm raising my 3 stars to 5 stars. Food is amazing and service has improved. I'm still a bit salty that they don't have a guac/salsa/queso combo on the menu, and I still rate the guac as sub-par (if Barra reads this, please add at least some lime & salt!!!) but everything else is divine, including the unique drinks. Must try items include the corn chowder and corn fritters. read more

Great food, super nice staff. Cool decor. If I had any criticism it would be more about my own tastebuds; the cilantro lime rice is very "limey". Will definitely be back. read more

super good chorizo potato taco!!! guacamole needs some doctoring up, but quest is amazing as well
