Taco's
Hester A.

The tacos were an absolute surprise and absolutely perfect. The house margarita was amazing. The street corn was perfect and will keep you going back for more. While not a typical "family" restaurant, the staff were very sweet to my grandkids who absolutely loved the cornbread. There is seating outside which is lovely in the good weather where you can enjoy people watching while you eat, but if it's Ambiance you want then insides for you.

We came for the Taco's should have stayed for the cocktails.

Walking along the sidewalk their laser cut steel sign is easily missed, the narrow front facing the sidewalk hides a small restaurant with a long solid wood bar counter with more stools than you might expect for such a small place. They have a full bar and a selection of beers, including a Mango Habanero the server suggested. A fruity palette with a biting swallow, not my thing but another local brew (Pacifico) did the trick. We started with salsa and chips, what a surprise: freshly made salsa and a huge tray of chips, delicious. We followed up with lobster taco's that were as good as "anything lobster" we have had in Maine! Service was happy, attentive, quick and appreciated. Restrooms clean, what more do you want, other than giving place a try! (NOTE: They have some negative reviews none of which was reflected when we visited today)

We were visiting Cedar Point as a group of 11 and looking for a place to eat. This was our 2nd choice since the other place didn't have enough seating. Barra was able to seat us quickly. The service we received was very good. Our waitress was attentive and offered suggestions. The drinks were good, even the house margarita, which is usually my most places below average. I had their infused margarita and definitely recommend. We ordered the appetizers with chips, salsa, queso, and guacamole for the table. The queso was good, the guacamole lacked taste, and we had to add salt and squeeze our own lime from our drink to give it flavor. The salsa was bland, and we added the garlic hotsauce on the table to make it decent. I had 3 tacos and street corn. The corn was average, my tacos were actually pretty good, the Barra dust on the cauliflower was tasty... maybe they need to add it to the other food. My table mate had a bowl with grilled chicken and, again, no flavor or seasoning.... this was the agreement of two with the chicken. I'm scoring a 2.8 for service, drinks, and my tacos. If they work on seasoning their food, it would be a really good place to visit.

I went to Barra during a trip to Sandusky, OH. Location: great! Very close to 'boardwalk'. There is ample street parking. Decor: very creative. Made the most of a narrow location with several tables along the wall that has a color palette that pulls you in. Service: very good and efficient. Just the right amount of attentive. Food: last but not least food is very good. The steak in my burrito bowl was amazing? Only reason for not giving them a five is the flavor nuances in my rice and side dishes- lack of them to be more precise. They need to spice things up a little. Overall: highly recommend if you ever visit Sandusky, OH! While you are there don't bother looking for where the Tommy Boy was filmed. Apparently not here.

I get that Sandusky is trying to make a come back with trendy spots, but we gotta keep it real. The food was some of the most inauthentic Mexican I've ever tasted. The margarita was weak. Tasted more like her name was Margaret. Lobster tacos were terrible - like a bland lobster salad. Again, an Aunt Margaret favorite. Even salsa was bland, chips too oily. Seating was uncomfortable and awkward on the patio. There was a door right by (like 1 foot) from our table, where either employees or tenants from the building exited. My bf kept having to scoot up and be aware. I wish them well. The staff appeared to be a young bunch of go-getters. Know better, do better = go-getter.

Found this place on Yelp while visiting Sandusky, OH. It's unassuming from the outside. The inside looks pretty cool with rusty iron walls, high ceilings and a bar. It's a narrow and long space. The menu is very creative and has a lot of options. If I had more time, I would have loved to try more. I got the street corn side and it was delicious. Our waitress asked if I wanted it off the cob. I didn't even know that was an option but it's so much better than eating it on the cob and getting it all over your face! I also got the carnitas taco and the surf & turf taco. The carnitas taco was delish. The carnitas were very tender and flavorful. The feta cheese threw me off. There was a lot of it on the taco and I wish it was queso blanco or queso fresco. The surf and turf taco was awesome. The steak was very tender and well seasoned and I lived the chimichurri that came with it. The service was quick and polite. You should check it out.

This food in this place is not real Mexican. It's like pseudo Mexican cuisine. The use the word "shell" to describe a tortilla. That should have been my first clue and walked away. They use flour "shells" which everyone knows it's not what you should use in a taco but alternative was hard shells??? Like Taco Bell tacos. They literally have a ground beef hard shell taco with cheese and salsa. At $7 per single taco , just go to Taco Bell and get them for a fraction of the price. 2/10

We came to Barra while visiting Sandusky and were happy with the experience. It is located downtown Sandusky near the water, the ambiance was delightful! The margaritas were flavorful and was just what we needed when we sat down. We began with the salsa combo, added some guacamole & corn salsa. Delicious. We ordered tacos for our entree. The carnitas were so tender and smoky. The chicken taco was super tender & flavorful. The lobster taco was very flavorful, lots of meat. Well worth the price! I thought the bacon overpowered the flavor of the lobster, I will omit that item the next time I come visit Barra. The cauliflower taco is one of the best around. It is sautéed to perfection served on a bed of slaw. The elote off the cob was so delicious!! I wanted to order a second side! The jalapeño cornbread muffins come with honey cinnamon and butter is the best thing ever. Check Barra out when you come to Sandusky. It's way better than the chain restaurants on 250! You will be a happy returning guest.

Meh. I didn't finish my food for the first time in my life

The staff is so friendly, but the food is so yuck :( My chips were rock solid and they were all stuck together in massive chunks. Every taco I had was just disgusting and that's saying a lot because I will eat pretty much anything. Lobster was gross and all I could taste was the bacon and Mayo. Has potential and it's in a boppin spot but everything tasted store bought... I hate leaving a bad review because our server was so sweet. I will add the cauliflower was bomb, but it should be served as a side and not on a taco.

Barra is a good place for Mexican drinks and food. Its main specialty is tacos. There's a whole lot of fillings and toppings. Even though it's not, it tastes authentic. Put that good hot sauce on them. I require a drink with Mexican food. It has several good ones here. You can't go wrong with a margarita. It's about $7 for a large glass. The tacos are the star. It's about $4 for most, and it's $5 for the premium. These are a pretty good size. I like the black bean tacos with the cilantro rice. This comes with cheese but you can substitute many toppings. It also has other food. The most popular among these other options seems to be the burgers, which often have Mexican toppings like guacamole and peppers. It has several good seating choices. Outside there's a small patio. The bar inside has a few big TVs and there's also some tables.

Cauliflower tacos and street corn. Blueberry margarita and a strawberry mango infusion margarita.

This is probably the best taco place in Sandusky. The perch taco is to die for! Staff is friendly. I will definitely go back!

Food was ok. Service was slow. Overpriced in my opinion. Had the chorizo burger. It was awesome. Most likely wouldn't go back again.

Do yourself a favor and take a detour from route 250 and dine at this family owned I dependent restaurant. I have a background in the business and can very clearly see the owners dedication to the quality of his ingredients. As a huge bonus, the service is far superior to anything you might find on 250. Everyone is friendly from the Owner to the Sushi Chef to the servers even the behind the scenes staff. Their menu will please any diet from meat eater to vegan and from carb lover to gluten free. The sushi chefs are not pretentious and this would be a great place to try sushi fir the first time and ask questions if you're not familiar. Joe is one of the Chefs and he very patiently answered several of my ingredient questions. . While the outdoor dining is preferable, my visit in today showed some off season deals for the holidays. Not sure how they are doing deals like that but I'm all about it. A sincere thank you to the owner for investing in downtown Sandusky and for offering a diverse menu which is not easily found here.

Wild to see the effects of that recent Supreme Court case allowing discrimination against members…read moreof the LGBTQ community reverberating around the country so quickly. Went to this bar because my friend has a connection to "Jax" and just wanted to get a drink from here because what the name means to her. Andy was immediately rude to my two friends who happen to be a lesbian couple. Refused to serve them. We reluctantly left, and the people on the front patio immediately jumped into action. Some of them work there from what we could tell, and others are locals who jumped at the chance to display their bigotry. One girl in what looked like a badly placed black wig was making lewd gestures to my friends about being lesbians, another dude said "It's a free country WE CAN DO THIS NOW!!!", and another lady called one of my friends a c**t after telling her "this bar isn't a place for your kind". As we were walking away, "Wig", yelled to me "I bet you're gonna get pegged by them tonight!" Thinking she was so hilarious getting the last word in. Utterly disgraceful locals feeling emboldened by a case that represents the minority of this country. I would suggest anyone who is a member of the LGBTQ community (or friends/family of them) steer absolutely clear if this bar. They will claim you are "too drunk to serve with bloodshot eyes" but once you push back because you are not that, they show their true colors that it's because they don't want to serve people who happen to be LGBTQ. The vibe of the entire place once we walked in was tense and super small location so even if we had been served, would've dipped out quickly.
