I literally do construction inspection for a living. I spent 2 months doing research and picking a roofer, I educated myself on all the different products: GAF versus CertainTeed versus Owens Corning... drip edge, starter strips, ice and water shield, underlayment, different types of shingles, ridge caps / vents, can vents, talked a lot about ventilation! I ended up cold calling 8 places to get 6 quotes, 4 of which were all great. I could have went with any of the 4. Made an excel spreadsheet... But C.H.I. just stood apart. Excellent customer service, and Jim took care of us every step of the way. From the moment we met Jim, we could tell he was our guy. Very nice, not pushy at all. Jim quickly responded to any questions I had from my "research" phase, answering all my questions about the different products, all the way through "roof install day". I called him when I had a question the morning my roof was being installed. He answered right away and gave a great answer to my question. Chris the Foreman was great, too. As the roof was being installed, Chris answered all my questions and forwarded my messages to his workers and, another thing that set them apart was that they didn't follow the exact same "design" of my roof from the 1990's: Chris and his crew went above and beyond to add a few vents and things to do it the right way, because he (in his expertise) thought it looked better and would be better if the roof was installed "that" way instead of the original way from 30 years ago. I totally agreed, glad they decided to add a few things to my roof. Customer Service was top-notch! I learned when it comes to roofing, you'll read different things about the material companies. Some people swear by GAF, some people swear by CertainTeed. The material is what it is - it's the INSTALLATION that counts. If the roof SYSTEM is not installed correctly, that's when you'll have problems, regardless of material. In the end, that's why we picked C.H.I. - someone we can TRUST to do it right. I've always heard "time, money, quality: pick 2". This is my first time doing a project on the house where I honestly believe a contractor gave me all three: quick responses, quick installation (time), VERY high quality products and installation all the way through, and a VERY good price. C.H.I. gave me time, money, AND quality. Take it from me - an engineer who dug deep into way too much unnecessary detail. They started job about three weeks after making deposit. Showed up on time and got it done. Each day they worked hard, and then cleaned up before they left. Took four days total to complete the project. No complaints, no adjustments needed, no returns to fix anything. Everything was perfect. After getting estimates from 6 roofing companies to replace our roof, we narrowed our selection to…read moretwo firms. After carefully evaluating the merits of each, including reading Yelp and other reviews, we ended up selecting Rapid Roofing to do the work, even though they were not the cheapest. They were chosen because of the warranty they were able to provide (GAF Golden Pledge), provided a discount on the middle tier shingle due to a promotion that was in effect at the time, and because of interactions with Lee Ehlers, their Sales Consultant, who did an excellent job explaining what we should expect to happen before, during and after the installation. On installation day, the roofing crew arrived on time, and did a great job protecting the outside (i.e., landscaping, whole home generator, central AC unit, windows, etc.) from flying shingles and other debris. Onsite foreman, Josiah, did a top notch job in supervising the roofing crew resulting in the work being done within 8 hours. We found very few nails on the ground and no other debris when they left, so they did a good job of cleaning up afterward. Additionally, even though a few window screens were damaged during the tear off process, Josiah had them replaced within 48 hours. About 2 months after the installation, we noticed siding around the chimney was damaged and called Rapid Roofing to address. Dale Climer, their Service Manager, ensured our concerns were addressed, which were cosmetic (caused no leaking) and the siding was replaced in a timely manner. Everyone at Rapid Roofing was very professional to work with including the roofing crew, and our overall experience has been excellent.
