    Halibut Fish And Chips

Love this place! We come here every time we are on Mt. Hood for vacation. The ambiance is perfect: rustic with a ton of retro charm. So cozy. Waitstaff are always so friendly and will strike up a conversation. But I wouldn't be leaving a review if it wasn't for the delicious food. Especially the fish and chips! It's our fave thing lace to get fish and chips in this area. They use halibut. It's perfectly battered, not too much and not too little breading. Very crispy, browned just right, and the fish is always so buttery and moist. Tartar sauce and cole slaw are very good. Try the stomping mountain toast for breakfast! It's decadent but crispy and tasty. I can't wait to go back and try the fried chicken special. Definitely check this place out!

I honestly did not know what to expect when coming to this restaurant since I've never been to Mt Hood. Right off the bat though, I do agree with the other reviewers, the staff was amazing and wonderful. Really nice people. I ordered the flat iron steak, medium rare, with mashed potatoes. I thought this was a great choice. It surprisingly came with a lot of stuff. Came with a soup or salad; I chose the salad. And it also came with a side of green beans and a slice of garlic bread. Now, the steak and the bread was decent, but for most of the sides, I have to cringe a bit. Green beans were overcooked and didn't taste so great. Might've come from a can for all I know. And as for the mashed potato, it was not the best. I definitely have had better. Maybe I'm just used to it being mashed with a lot of butter to get a more rich and creamy texture. This was more crumbly. The brown gravy helped a lot here. Salad was fresh and good. My friend's fish and chips looked a lot better honestly. Judging by other peoples' reviews, sounds like that's the thing to get here. Wished I knew that before hand. I think I'll have to recommend getting that instead of the steak for dinner. Oh well. Lasting impressions, although the steak was fine, the sides were a huge miss for me. Service was very good though. Get the fish and chips!

Visited this restaurant twice during my week stay in Rhododendron. I initially had it bookmarked so that I could try the fish and chips but also came back to have breakfast. Firstly, the staff is absolutely wonderful. Next, food. Breakfast: Great cup of coffee. I ordered the breakfast burrito. I'd call it more of a breakfast enchilada. The scramble is wrapped in a tortilla and topped with salsa and cheese. SUPER fresh ingredients. Dinner: I got the hot wings appetizer and the halibut fish and chips. Solid wings and amazing fish and chips. They were meatier than a normal fish and chips. OH and their fries are perfect. (Note: The fish and chips come with coleslaw but I didn't want any.) I genuinely think this is the best restaurant in the whole Mt Hood area.

My fiance planned a wonderful mountain getaway for us, and lucky for me- we had dinner reservations here. It was so chilly in December, We had a cold mountain day, and we bundled up to go to our dinner reservations and I have to say- I wasn't expecting much when I heard the name "Grill". I was thinking- burgers, fries, your typical post-ski grub. I was wrooong! We strolled into the coziest little restaurant and were greeted by the two lovely people working there. Felt like I very sweet family vibe. They steered us in the directions of the pasta dishes we ordered, and we had the Soup of the Day to start- I believe it was some kind of Tomato bisque and that hit the spot. The Hazelnut pasta was a hit for my fiance, and I loved that he got to try such a classic Oregon flavor in a pasta- how fun. My chanterelle ravioli filled me up so fast, I also loved being able to try chanterelles in this format. Both dishes felt very creative and full of so much Oregon pride! Delicious!

Prices are pretty high but we've found that the quality is consistently good, though this year felt a bit less. I enjoyed a patty melt with sweet potato fries. Kids grilled cheeses also were enjoyed. Hamburger was good, though I liked the patty melt more. The alfredo and cod were just average. For desert, I got the chocolate torte, which was a big letdown (especially since it cost $15!). I may decide to try a new place next year.

First of all, the drive into the town was gorgeous and scenic. What a restaurant with a view! Easy parking and plenty of seating on the inside. Second, the staff were incredible. From the moment we walked in, the young lady taking our order was friendly, welcoming, and helpful with our questions as non-locals. Another co-worker was helpful in helping us to get seated and bringing out food/drinks. Wonderful service, thank you! Third, the food was AMAZING! Everything we ate was fresh, hearty, and so flavorful. We shared a cup of clam chowder and it was so creamy and delicious. My husband got the fish and chips with the Cajun seasoning and it was so scrumptious! And very filling! I got the smoked salmon po'boy and it was so decadent. I loved every bite and walked away stuffed! And, on top of it all, prices were so reasonable for such fresh fish and ingredients! If we are ever in the area again, we are going to be sure to stop by Brigham Fish Market. It is worth every minute of the drive, every dollar, and every bite! Thanks for an amazing lunch!

That is the only downside to this place. They have some colorful paint on the wall that was nice. When you come in, you order your food and then go sit down and they will bring it to you. We ended up ordering their 8 piece cod because it's cheaper than ordering 2 four pieces. She was nice enough to separate it for us without us asking. The food came out quick and it was not overly greasy. The cod had a nice batter and had a fresh clean taste. It was still moist and flaky. They were great sized also. As for the fries they came out hot and crisp. Some of the best fries I've had in a long time. The coleslaw was lacking flavor and depth but not a big deal. We got 3 sauces: tartar sauce was very good! The garlic aïoli had great flavor and wasn't overpowering. The ginger lime was very mild and wasn't a good choice in my opinion. They all seemed to be homemade and there were so many choices.

It was also in the middle of a heat wave in OR, so we asked to sit outside. After my husband snagged our table, I brought our well-trained and well-behaved Siberian with us to the patio. There was another poorly-behaved dog, but my dog could not have cared any less, and it was far enough away that it didn't bother me too much either. The outdoor seating was minimal and basic, but did the job. Thankfully there was shade from the umbrellas. I put my dog in his "tuck" command under me as he is trained to do at restaurants, and proceeded to look at the menu. To be honest, the food looked pretty good, and also smelled pretty good, as I watched other patrons get their meals. However, we were still pretty stuffed, so we settled with a beer flight. The beers were out to our table pretty quickly, but after trying them, my husband and I came to the consensus that we expected more from the only brewing company in town. As another Yelper put it, the beers fell flat for us too. I was hoping there would be more/different notes to each beer, which is the whole point of sampling multiple, but they all seemed quite monotone. It started getting pretty warm underneath our umbrella, so we quickly wrapped up our beer flight and left. The view was gorgeous, and the location splendid (hence the 4 stars), and perhaps next time I'd be down to try one of their dishes, specifically the elkburger, but I was a little disappointed in the beer. I've been to plenty of breweries to enjoy beers there and also bought craft beers/growlers for home, so I'd like to say I'm decently versed in beer, but this missed the mark.

The breading in the clams, shrimp and fish has just the right amount of seasoning. They are so not greasy that I can eat them all as finger food and wiping my fingers off on a napkin doesn't leave greasy streaks. All are served with a little coleslaw, generous amounts of cocktail sauce, a spicy but not too much so dipping sauce, and the best tarter sauce I ever had in my life. I found something new to make me happy. They have delicious fish tacos! Before trying these I had fast food fish tacos that were more crunchy breading than fish. Captain's Galley brings the fish! Perfectly seasoned fish with toppings in proportion and a nice drizzle of sauce. Now when I go back it's a tough decision as to what to get. Because the temperature is less than 40 degrees, we hurried up with our order, so she can go back & close the windows, where it's warmer. We both ordered 2-3 fish and chowder. It took about 7 mins. maybe more, for our order to be done. I actually was disappointed: there were two or three (for hubby's order) fish sticks, (and they looked burned). I was hoping for some chips but I guess that was EXTRA, and we didn't order that. Total for mine is $10. The tartar sauce was filled with dill. The chowder (be both agreed), was salty! (We've tasted that SAME chowder elsewhere before). The lemon was fresh! (Probably, the only thing plus the dill, that's fresh there). This is the first time I wanted Fish & Chips, and Chowder, and no chips or fries. Totally my fault! I should have read the menu, and I shouldn't feel sorry for someone who is cold, and try to rush my order, when I only have seconds to pick what I wanted. I SHOULD have spend more time reading everything BEFORE I ordered. (I've ordered them so many times, in my life, I was assuming chips or fries came with the order).
