Strawberry buttermilk biscuit, Thursday 25 January 2024.
    Tanis L.

Approaching Bark Espresso via car this morning, Thursday 25 January 2024, I passed the building it was located in before circling around the block and finding designated parking by the entrance. When driving past, I noticed a pet/dog store sign from the road, and figured it was close. When I got out of my car after circling around, I notice a sign on the outside of the building with the name Bark Espresso and a red door for an entrance/exit. Entering the coffee/food shop, I found a few customers sitting at the tables and a few workers behind the counter. Looking for a hearty baked good, I opted for one with a large fruit jam-looking dollop on the top. I asked what it was when asking for one and the worker said it was a strawberry buttermilk biscuit. It was less than $5 with tax, which I thought was a good price for both the quantity and craftsmanship of the item. My cash payment was well accepted, and I was on my way to enjoy the biscuit. The texture of the biscuit was firm on the outside and topped with crystalline sugar pieces. The interior was fluffy and retained the density of a good biscuit. For the strawberry topping, it was on the sweeter side towards wild strawberries. An excellence product and very satisfying serving size.

my new favorite place to go to on a nice day (or even a rainy day)! The staff is just amazing, & the grilled cheese is to die for. The drinks are so good (I got an americano and an iced tea) they are so sweet to the pups and my anxious girl felt so comfortable the moment we were there. I was able to get hours of work done sitting outside while my pup relaxed, played and sniffed. Truly my new go to place.

This is a cute little puppy themed coffee shop. The guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful In menu choosing. We choose a yummy cinnamon roll and a veg breakfast sandwich. I also got a yummy spiced chai. The place is a little hard to find. We drove by once thinking it was a pet store. It was worth the second drive by. It looks like it has outdoor dining to bring your pup along. Wii definitely come back with a furry friend.

Brilliant idea - cafe adjacent to a doggie daycare/training shop! Very much appreciated the friendly service, plentiful selection of teas, sandwiches (Pesto Sandwich was AMAZING - warm, crisp, savory), and the doggie decor (paintings are so cheerful!).

Such a nice treat didn't know this was here! Suggested from the local tire joint a quick walk and delicious espresso and scone! I will be back!

On a cold winter day , was looking for a meetup place to meet a friend. I love that this cafe has two separate cafe areas: one for humans only and the other for humans and their pups. The dog only entrance has its own entrance to the side of the building by the outdoor tent/dining area. Inside the dog only area, there are some dog beds so high-chewed toys and plenty of seating for humans. There is a window inside this cafe where you can order. You cannot see the food displays from this side of the cafe, but they have the menus posted. We had our blueberry scones toasted; definitely go with a warmed scone. The scones were well balanced, not too sweet and plenty of blueberries. The drip coffee wasn't too acidic. They have a jar of dog treats. Would definitely visit again; love that this cafe concept exists!

The penguin peppermint mocha is so goo! As is the egg nog, standard holiday drinks I know... but for some reason I think we're better than average. The pesto egg sandwich had veggie sausage!! Yum! And YOU CAN BRING YOUR DOG!

Any place that has bark in the name has to be dog friendly, and it is! They have two separate rooms, one for dogs and one without, so if you don't like dogs you don't have to see them. The coffee is really good as well and the pesto breakfast sandwich is delicious. Definitely worth the trip with your pup.

You could probably just eat the bread and be happy. Informal open-garage style sitting area adds to the vibe. Not flashy, just great Italian sandwiches made with intention.

They were even able to give me a sample of the different cheeses as I wasn't sure if the gorgonzola would be super funky. I got the bambino sandwich and it was good. It's a simple sandwich with just a handful of ingredients but it goes well. The bread is pretty crunchy yet fluffy inside. The salty mortadella pairs well with the creamy straciatella (essentially a mozzarella cheese) and the crunchy pistachios. Also, it was a little pricey but the sandwich is relatively large so you get what you pay for. Overall, Fortuna Bottega brings a new sandwich shop to the area and they ingredients are simple however, all together, it works well!

Interestingly, the meat came in two separate pieces, arranges somewhat like an X or a cross in the middle of the sandwich. This certainly wasn't the eating experience of a typical sandwich with a circular meat patty, and I appreciate the creativity here. The meat was insanely crunchy, oily, and quite plentiful. Each bite felt a bit like you were biting into a crunchy churro, but without the sweetness. I did think the outside of the pork did overpower the inside, though, as I didn't taste the meat or the fat inside much, and due to the amount of breading the pieces ended up being a bit chewy The bun was quite good as well - it was pretty soft, fluffy, and served as a really good bookend to all the ingredients inside. I thought the lettuce and onions also were good. I don't know if I'm a fan of the jelly on the sandwich - but again, I do like the creativity. What did shine here was the aioli, however. In a lot of places, you don't really taste the aioli on a burger - but that flavor was ever-present on this sandwich, and it was really fantastic. The absolute best part of the meal, by far, though, was the biscuit I have to start with how huge this is. This is certainly not the size of a typical Southern-style buttermilk biscuit - rather this biscuit makes no apologies in its effort to stand out from the crowd. Absolutely nobody would mistake this for a traditional biscuit - on the contrary, I think on first glance most people would assume this isn't a biscuit at all. It's shaped more like a massive pastry. I hesitate to say that looks are deceiving, because it does look great, but its taste manages to elevate past that. This was SO good. The edges are baked perfectly - they're oily, crispy, crunchy, and perfectly flaky. All four sides provide an amazing base - like the walls of a fortress that surround the soft, tender interior of the biscuit. You can see the different layers from the outside as well. When it comes to the inside, there was so much to get through but every bite was heavenly. So much credit here goes to the honey butter - which when spread onto the biscuit, raises the taste level of the entire thing. I put so much honey butter on mine that I nearly finished the whole thing. When it came to the jam, it was good, but since it didn't combine great with the honey butter I mostly ended up just using the latter This place was expensive - around 16 dollars for the sandwich and 8 for the biscuit - however, I was quite full at the end

Then you chose to increase prices and decrease the quantity, which didn't make sense. Less for more? What a waste of a great idea - greed is why your business model didn't work. Your business was so hot when it opened and it actually went downhill about 6 years ago and I am not sad to see you go. Josh - to respond to your comment. My note should have inspired some reflection with the business model but it didn't. Your level of greed was insane and that is not forgiven here. You started hot and decided to squeeze more than your share from this business and this is what happens. You messed around and found out. It's sad because I actually supported the business when it opened but quickly had to end my dealings due to the high level of greed. You did this to your own business by wanting more, more and more, so please don't play the victim here. I'm sorry that you're saddened by this but what you did to the community is far worse than what I said. Actually ripping people off with your product is not having humanity. I'm not the inhumane one here and let's get that straight. I didn't rip people off - you did! You got what you deserved and that's that. You likely have time to turn things around but I doubt you can reduce your greed in time. If you do, I'll gladly come back and support yall. Again - food was great and greed was not.
