Like almost all B&B's there are drawbacks. We were on the 2nd floor and had to lug our suitcases up the stairs. One of them wasn't too bad but the 2nd was very heavy. The Inns decor was British and nicely decorated. Our bedroom was comfortable and there was a private deck outside our room. The bathroom was on the tiny side, with the sink in the actual bedroom. The lighting was a little tough for putting on makeup but overall we would recommend this 1829 Inn.

The pool area gets cleaned every morning and is a pretty decent size. Granted, we came on memorial weekend, but their was still enough space for my family to sit out by the pool. A quick walk down the little boardwalk they have gave you access to the beach, which if you've never been to St. Agustine, is a beautiful beach. We make a point to support the business by continuing to order while we're there, and in the past, the staff has always been welcoming to families. Unfortunately, today was a very different experience. I was there with my 6- and 2-year-old, who are active, as most young kids are. I stayed close, followed them around, and made sure they weren't being disruptive. They were simply being kids--dancing, enjoying the music, and yes, occasionally walking in front of people. Each time, I apologized, and most guests were kind and understanding--many even smiling and saying they missed those ages. That positive experience changed when an employee approached me and said my children couldn't be running around. I completely understand the need for safety and respect for others, but it was disappointing to feel like children aren't embraced in what I believed was a relaxed, outdoor, family-friendly environment. We weren't in a formal dining space, but rather an open area where I thought families would be welcome. We've never had this issue before, even when my oldest was younger, which made it even more surprising. Sadly, this experience has us reconsidering where we spend our time, especially during such beautiful weather. If the expectation is a more adult-only environment, it may be helpful to communicate that clearly so families can make informed decisions. Just sharing our experience for other families who may be looking for a welcoming place to spend time together.

We noticed that the building was very much like an old motel 6. The doors were on the outside and two floors. No elevator! The outside was very dingy..there was garbage thrown all over on the walkways. We entered our room, and I could immediately smell the mold and mildew. There was an AC wall unit. I had to turn it on 62 to make the smell dissipate. It was freezing! It was horrible because the temps were in the 40's and I was fighting a cold. There was no phone in the room. The bathroom was so small, we had to duck between the toilet and shower to open/close the door. The shower was dirty. We were otw out that night during a busy holiday season. We asked the front desk girl where the park and ride area was and she had no idea. The place allows pets. When I walked my girl, there was garbage and dog poop in most areas surrounding the building. When I got in the shower the next morning, the water pressure was horrible and the water, even though turned all the way to the hottest, was lukewarm at best. I took a cold shower! That was enough for me. Our trip was supposed to be through New Year's Day. We spent one night, then decided to cut our trip two days short and head back home to south florida. Who wants to spend new years totally uncomfortable? What a disappointment this place was. We will definitely not be back!
