I did a lot of research looking around the valley for the most economically high quality pool remodelers I could. I found Barefoot pools on Yelp and they had very good reviews. I did my research and decided to give them a call. I scheduled an appointment. Chad came to my home to discuss my remodel and take some measurements. He LISTENED to what I had to say, he was respectful, and gave valuable input on things I hadn't considered. At no time did I feel like he was just trying to up sell me on anything, I felt no pressure, this was definitely a no 'hard sell' situation. He's hilarious and gets just as excited as you do discussing your project. I would have beer with this guy nuff said. I wanted the the pool and cool deck remodeled but didn't want to go into debt to pay for it. Chad recommended breaking up the project in 2 parts. 1 get the pool remodeled 2 get the cool deck remolded later. A plan was quickly developed. My wife and I met up with Chad at their showroom in Gilbert. They had a wide variety of pool 'splash' and cool deck tiles to choose from. Chad was patient and accommodating. He was able to show us what the tiles looked like installed using pictures from other completed projects they've done. While scrolling thru former project pictures we saw a tile we liked, he got a physical sample of this tile for us to inspect. He also brought us outside to inspect it against the cool deck tile we liked to get a better feel of how it would go together. It was perfect. Chad is a great communicator and gets back to you quickly via email or text. I was impressed with the estimate/quote process. He literally goes line by line with you so you know exactly what you're getting and at what cost. Let the build begin!! Once you've decided what you want they will send you an email detailing how the build process works and what to expect. The 'composer' of this remodel symphony was Shaun. This guy has great customer service skills, provides detailed answers to any questions you have about the remodel. Shaun communicates effectively with the build crews and acts as the liaison between you them and the company. Each crew they sent were hardworking and respectful. They didn't mind that I watched some of the work they were doing and were ok with me taking pictures and video. Shout-out to the 'chipping crew' who came in and knocked out the chipping work in record time!! The 'Tile Masters' that were sent did a beautiful job placing the tile. The micro pebble came out great. One thing to know is when you're scheduled say a 20 day remodel there are a few days in between the different phases of the remodel where no one is actually working on your pool. Once the pool is remodeled and water is filled. They will send pool technicians to inspect your system and put in the initial chemicals needed to balance your pool (Thanks Matt for all your pool tips!!). Lastly will be the 'pool orientation'. Shaun comes out and trains you on how to keep your pool in tip top shape. He will even demonstrate how to properly test the pool water, how to maintain your pool and answer any questions. Once this is complete you'll review the itemized bill line by line and pay the remaining balance. This company was a real pleasure to work with. We were looking to remodel our pool in 2020 as the surface was about 20 years old when we bought our house in 2019, and the pebble tech was falling apart. We got quotes from a few companies during the process and barefoot gave us a really competitive quote. They also listened attentively to all of our questions and provided answers to everything, which was super reassuring to us as first time pool owners. We unfortunately could not get the pool remodeled in 2020, but remembered the experience with them and came back when we were ready in 2021 and got the process started. I had my pool resurfaced by them last summer. Had a great experience. They were timely and even finished the project earlier than expected. Several months after the install I noticed a little rust spot on the bottom of the pool. When I called and told them, they told me sometimes little pieces of the blades that cut the surfacing materials will break off and then appear like this. They were out in a couple of days and removed it and you can't even tell. Not only was the install great, but they stand by their work. read more

I had a problem with having to backwash every 2-4 days and they were very helpful in helping me work through the problem, which is not a problem any more. I had some minor changes done to the line coming out from the sand filter and it was done very neatly . I decided to have them redo my pool deck (over 30 years old) and that was carried out in three days. I was very impressed with the care that they used in the prep work- the masking off of the pool itself. When all was finished, they cleaned up everything perfectly. And it looks great. They would only refund $125 and said the other $50 is their charge for a service call no matter if they actually did any work at all. We reached out to Barefoot Pools after "band-aiding" our old pool equipment for too long. Their communication and thoroughness were second to none from beginning to end. We shared pictures of our current set-up with Jessica, and in a matter of hours we had a complete estimate to replace and upgrade our equipment. She readily walked us through the estimate and addressed our questions, all over the phone. We had such confidence in her and the process that we never felt the need to meet in person or visit their store. The pricing was competitive with the market and she highlighted known rebates from the manufacturer. In our opinion, pool equipment is subject to harsh climates in AZ, so we chose to go with quality vs. value from beginning to end. As the install process kicked-off, Branden stopped by to drain the tool to ensure that we were starting off on the right foot. Then, Erik and Tre followed-up to ensure the drainage was complete and began refilling the pool. Next, the magician, Juan, arrived to remove all the old equipment and install the new units. He was meticulous in removing all the old PVC piping and valves, ensuring to cut back to "good" pipe to build back the piping for the new units. He kept the PVC piping tight and clean. Lastly, Jeff stopped by to ensure that all the pumps, timers, and the salt unit were synced. He gave us a tour of how to use the new equipment for optimal performance. We have been using Barefoot pool service for several years now. They have resurfaced our pool deck and did a marvelous job. We had them trouble shoot and repair an air leak and an issue with the spa back siphoning into the pool. Work completed and everything worked like new. the tech that worked on the system knew what he was doing and explained what the issues were and what he needed to do to repair the system. Stayed around to make sure everything was working as expected. We just had to have an actuator replace while we were on vacation. The actuator was the one that controlled the spa and other features. A tech came and replaced the actuator while we were gone. We were told the system was now working properly. When we returned the system seemed to be working until we attempted to use the spa. It wouldn't start. Neither the pump or the heater would run. The actuator would function as expected. Another service call. Evidently the tech that changed the actuator didn't check to see that everything worked as expected. Jessica was very understanding and we were not charged for this service call. read more

But then it went off a cliff as soon as I had to deal with their service manager on a spa pump and light job. Last Jan (2016) they did a full remodel of our pool, and I've recommended them and would absolutely hire them again... especially with some tricky coping work which was executed very, very well. My cautionary note when picking out finishes: A year later I still have mixed feelings about the micro pebble color. The color (blue frost) of the full pool, when done, was far brighter/neon than I was expecting from the store samples (they have a lot of sample in the store, let me take them home, etc so I was feeling pretty good)... and to me it clashes with the tile we picked. As soon as I saw it going in I was worried, but I didn't stop the work... 'it will dry darker'. Well... not much. They were helpful getting me in touch with the reps to see if I had an off batch... which of course was fruitless so in the end I have to live with it. My advice - try and see the color you want in real life, with a tile sample. Pictures and samples just aren't enough for this kind of decision. If you want something electric... pick Blue Frost! :) That being said - great communication & patience during the redesign process, including figuring out some less expensive solutions to some existing design challenges. And as I mentioned the craftsmanship of the tile and coping is remarkable - we had 1" tile put in and while normally we can pick out where sheets start/end on other projects, the large tile wall is flawless. The care taken in the coping, including some nonstandard 'waterfall' edges we wanted was also remarkable (such as individually mitered blocks to make the curve). The rest of the pool looks good too, and all of the crews were on time and kept the yard clean. Unfortunately the crack over the skimmer has come back but we had it patched, not completely redone. A few months later they also fixed a leak in my auto-fill where there was a root intrusion from an old tree... quickly and neatly done. It was quite some time after the remodel so I'm sure it was a separate issue (we took the tree out - the root probably decomposed). They took pictures showing the repair, which was nice. read more

Also used them to re-do pool deck acrylic texturing and paint. From start to finish, Barefoot Pools was the most professional, patient, timely and honest contractor I have ever worked with. Jose is up front and honest about design, materials and pricing and made every effort to work within our budget. Price quoted was the price; no add-ons, unforeseen issues or expenses, etc. Shawn oversaw our project and was remarkably thorough and straightforward in communicating timelines and what would be happening when. Demo team was incredibly conscientious about landscaping, irrigation system, and covering furniture and other items on our patio and yard and kept debris to a minimum. Demo'd material was cleaned up in a timely and professional manner. There are no signs whatsoever of the scrap, debris or other issues resulting from an extensive renovation like ours. The tile and travertine techs are second to none. Quality and workmanship are truly world-class. Deck refinishing team was also incredibly conscientious to ensure no overspray or splatter. Jose and Shawn visited the project and were constantly communicating the status and timeline of the project which ran exactly on the schedule and timeline that they provided in the beginning and before the project started. They did what they said they were going to do; when they said they were going to do it; finished when they said they would finish; and charged what they said it would cost. And it looks better than we could have imagined. My wife and I could not be more pleased with Jose, Shawn and the entire Barefoot Pools team and the quality of their work. The only 'problem' is that they have raised the bar for every other contractor that I will ever work with.
