The mountain in general is a great place to learn to ski, as it is small, and there is one side of the mountain that lends itself to beginners with a couple of trails. However, since I have progressed as a skier, the summit is the best place to be. There are a variety of trails, and it gives you access to the trails going to the East Lodge, which are some of my favorite blues and black trails. The views are also fantastic. Pleasant also has nightly skiing throughout the week, which is also a plus. Why 4 stars? I contemplated a 5 star rating, but my one critique was that in previous years they used to groom the terrain before night skiing, and now they do not. I wish they would, because I would go to night skiing more often, however, I find that the night skiing gets very icy and/or mogul-ey, which are not the conditions that I like to ski. Overall, this is a great place to ski for a smaller mountain, and I look forward to it's continued growth being apart of the Boyne group!

After that The shop called someone to take me up the elevator!! Which I was grateful for. I was able to watch my daughter from a distance. The mountain was stunning the day was beautiful!!! All I can say is, we will be coming back regularly. The Cub Carpet was a perfect starting point for all ages. (I was worried about a 4 year old kicking my ass) After an hour we ventured out to Squirrel Run. It took me three tries with a little bit of reluctance and tears, by the fourth and fifth time down I was feeling more confident. They have perfect starter slopes and plenty of room for black diamond goers! We were able to have a nice midday snack and relax before getting back out there. The cafe had plenty of options that weren't as outrageously* priced as most ski lodges. (Still pretty high but you know what to expect when you go skiing). We ended our fun day with a nice craft beer at their new bar. That was a perfect ending point to a great day. Good beer, good people, good laughs. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We didn't encounter one staff member that wasn't smiling and professional. The owners are great people, who love what they're doing and you can't ask for more than that. The owner, Scott, was a pleasure to meet and chat with. Next year we are planning on getting season passes! Highly recommended. 9/10 (women's bathroom was pretty rough, but that's the clientele and not the business. Stop clogging the toilet and please wash your hands, ladies)

My family of four visited Cranmore during the 4th of July weekend. We had fun! It was a lot less…read morecrowded than I expected. There were only two eateries open, so the menu was limited. The mountain coaster was the best part, and we only waited a max of 5 min in line, and ended up riding it 6 times. There was a longer line for the Soaring Eagle zipline and Swing, only because they can only hold a few people at a time. The chair lift had nice views. The trampoline was entertaining, but kinda one note. The inflatable obstacle courses were both scalding hot in the sun and had puddles from rain the night before, so my kids didn't like those. I'd recommend Cranmore Adventure Park for 2-3 hours of fun.

Cranmore delivered just that and more. Lots of greens and blues where I could work on my skills, try trails with escalating difficulty, and still kick back when I just want to enjoy myself and not be a ball of nerves. I also enjoyed the length and variety of their many trails I could traverse. Was happy to have more options than just a quick up and down in a straight line over a full day of skiing. Their main lift was quick and skiers were able to load efficiently. Lots to look at on the way up. The day of my last visit there were several ski competitions going on just next to the lift so it was fun to watch people competing and see spectators make the trek up to watch as well. Ski patrol were out and about and lots of staff available to check in with as needed. The lodge itself had everything I needed... free cubbies to store your stuff, bench seating to change into your boots, adequate table space both up and downstairs to grab a bite to eat, indoor and outdoor gas fireplaces to huddle by, a bar and hot foods, and best of all... a bathroom at the same level as where you can ski up to so no having to navigate stairs in clunky footwear. Drop off area for skis, quick in and out to purchase tickets, simple walk over to a very large parking area. I can't wait to return when the opportunity arises!

While their lift tickets can be a bit pricy, hitting them up during the shoulder seasons can help with affordability. I've been here in both early winter and late spring and found the trails to be in good condition! As someone who sticks to the greens with an occasional blue mixed in, their trails offer enough variety to keep me entertained throughout the day. I like having my pick of 4 chairlifts and a gondola to check out different sections of the mountain. On my last visit, there was a very challenging weather day the day before my visit and it was clear the staff were hard at work overnight to groom the trails. Throughout the day, they were actively working to open additional trails (at which they were very successful) as well as firing the snow machines to get other parts of the mountain open as soon as possible. The lower lodge is straightforward, offering plenty of seating to change into your ski boots and eat a meal. The food is pricy but we always try to make sure we have options out in the car to manage our costs throughout the day. That isn't unique to this ski resort of course though. The upper lodge at the top of the gondola is nice as well. Unlike the lower lodge, their bathrooms are on the same level as the entrance so no having to manage stairs in clunky boots. Gorgeous views of Mount Washington from the peak! Worth it on a bluebird day!

Staff was super friendly and they were helping an inexperienced customer next to us become confident enough to try this fun sport. I think they gave her some free ground school before launching them, which is A+++. $25pp/hour was a reasonable rate, and they didn't mind we went a little over our hour. Staff carried boards to town dock for us to launch. Only thing that would have earned 5 stars (and a tip to the staff) would have been seeing us on our return trip and helping us transport the boards back the shop (it's right across the street though). With a 13 year old niece I could manage carrying both, but if one or both of the young helpers were around it would have been a quick $10 tip IMO. All in all, great small business and it's the 2nd summer I have rented from them. If I haven't bit the bullet and bought some boards by next summer I will be renting from them again! P.S. They are selling off their rentals right now for around $650 a board... great time to pick up a lightly used SUP!

Recently, the mountain has been going through some updates. At Jordan, they have installed New England's fastest 8 person chair lift with heated seats and a shield, and they are looking to add a 6 person chair lift to Barker with similar seating in the 23-24 season. They are also looking to expand the mountain more with more lodging, chairlifts, and trails in the foreseeable future. All of this allows for Sunday River to continue being a great mountain. Each time I have gone to Sunday River, the trails are always well-groomed and there are limited lines. When lines do build up, it consistently goes by fast due to the organization of the staff at the chairlifts. Overall, Sunday River is a great resort to check out if you are a skier or snowboarder. There are a variety of restaurants on the strip of the resort to enjoy, and I look forward to its expansion!

The slopes best suited for the kids are located right next to the center. There is a Children's Center short term parking spot next to the Center as well. This is an awesome and fun spot!

Gunstock is an amazing mountain and it's beautiful and I love it. But one day my daughters (11…read moreyears old) and their cousins (9 years old) went on the panorama loft together and when it was their turn to get on they asked the lift operator to slow it down she didn't and she was like. "come on come on hurry up" in a rude tone and the girls weren't able to get onto the lift in time so they were about to fall off. One of my girls lost a ski in that time also. And the operator didn't even stop the lift. Overall gunstock is an amazing place! You probably won't be able to identify her but she was a little chubby, had blonde highlights, looked about in her mid sixties, and this was on January 11 2020. I love gunstock so much but what that person did was very rude.

As we were visiting in July, I got tickets to do the mountain coaster and it was great. Getting there was easy and there are large signs along the way to help guide you there easily. Once arrived at the huge parking lot, we locked the car and went to the ticket office where the super friendly young lady checked us in and let us know where to go. The coaster is clearly marked and when we got there, the line was very small. We had a timed ticket so we had unlimited rides for two hours. We rode the coaster a total of three times (took just over 30 minutes total) and that was plenty. It was a lot of fun and it's a thrill going through the trees so quickly...even the ride up is fun and scenic. There are a lot of staff helping on-board and off-board riders and they were all very friendly and helpful. The ride is safe for all ages and we saw little kids riding with their parents, youngsters riding alone (if they met the height requirement) and even grandparents riding it. It was a lot of fun...thrilling but not too scary. Just a reminder...you need to wear closed toe shows. Flip-flops and Crocs won't due it so bring some sneakers. There was a craft show going on while we where there so we walked around and spent some money on local food. That was nice. We also saw people on the zip lines and they all seemed to be having a blast. If we come back, I will definitely sign up for that. This was just a fun time at a nice place with friendly staff. The place feels so laid back (although safety is paramount so I don't want it to seem that wasn't taken seriously). If you come here, I think you'll be like me and leave with two things: 1) a smile on your face; and 2) a desire to come back soon.

It is operational seasonally and closes the end of October. After reading recent reviews, the facts in them are true! This is not a HOTEL, there are no elevators, minibars, pools, daily maid service and plenty of stairs to climb. The place is a couple of hundred years old but pretty well maintained and my room was very clean. I booked a larger room on the first floor that was pretty quiet and very clean. The furniture was basic, had a minifridge and large bathroom. Coffee and muffins were put out for all at 7 AM and coffee and cookies at 2 PM. There is a restaurant on premises that serves breakfast starting at 8 AM and dinner from 4 to 9 PM. The bar is open during dinner hours only. So, this is a basic B&B in an out of the way beach town. DO NOT come here if you need modern furniture/wall art, minibars, pools, in room coffee or need pampering. Do not bring kids. Stay at one of the chain motels along the highway. You'll be happier!
