I checked into most of the Casco Bay Area Marinas and found that Sunset had the best options for my needs. There are others with a larger compliment of services, but since I have REO as my boat yard and Marine repair service, Sunset has exactly what I need. -They have well maintained Dock & Gangways -The shore power & water lines are first rate -Bathrooms & laundry are spic & span 100% -Allow outside maintenance to come work on your boat -Extra dingy dock available -Transportation carts for your stuff always available -Marine equipment and beverages always stocked -Fuel is the cheapest in Casco Bay!!! -Long term clientele who are welcoming to new members, very helpful and very friendly -Dan & Elaine are great business people. They care about the boat owners and it shows -They also provide routine and special weather updates, and will contact you immediately out of concern for your vessel, especially when a big storm is brewing -It's the small touches: Dan & Elaine provided a spectacular 4th of July fireworks show out of pocket because of the Wuhan Virus limitations this year. Best show ever! Just ask everyone at Sunset D Dock! If you're fortunate enough to have a boat, try to get into Sunset. It's my first Marina experience and it has set the bar really high. Thanks Elaine & Dan!i

We've had a slip at Sunset Marina in South Portland Maine for a few years now…read more Not to put any of the other great marinas we did transient slips with around Portland , but simply put there is no better place we can imagine that is better then Sunset Marina. From the amazing sunsets over the old port to the friendly, helpful and professional service Dan and Elaine provide. As we were new to the ocean life, their experience and helpfulness was welcomed. We love how they maintain a pleasant and welcoming environment for all and won't tolerate anything else. If you're lucky enough to get a slip at sunset marina welcome, you won't regret it!! Every time we're here staying in Ocean Point, we make a point to visit Tidal Transit Kayak Company…read morefor a guaranteed great time on the water. The past two times we've been here, we've done their guided wildlife kayak tour which includes a stop on Ram Island with snacks. This summer, given the COVID issues, they are unable to offer any guided tours but you can go down to their dock and rent stand up paddle boards or kayaks (single or double) and they will provide you with waterproof maps of the harbor so you can paddle to various locations and explore on your own. They also provided us with waterproof sacks and life vests. It was all first come first serve (I couldn't reserve the kayaks ahead of time) but they have so many it's not an issue. They said they do have more demand for paddle boards from time to time. We rented three double kayaks and wore our masks, as did the staff, until we shoved off the dock. We did the recommended kayak path to Burnt Island and walked around the island a bit before we headed back around the bay. In truth, two of our party decided to just float in the bay in their kayak and didn't paddle anywhere. All in all it was a wonderful and different way to experience the bay by kayak than the guided tours and at the end, they gave each of our teenagers/young adults a Tidal Transit Kayak sticker for their water bottles/laptops. I tried to pay for them but they gave them to us for free - and we will gladly advertise their company for them! Next time you're in Boothbay Harbor and looking for a fun, COVID-safe, outdoor activity for the whole family, make sure to visit Tidal Kayak Transit Company.

For example; the last two 4th of July's I have had issues both days with my Jet Skis. I have been able to call and text him to get his advice and recommendations. Both times I brought my ski in the next day and had it back on the water within 48 hours. At other marinas and shops they told me it would be 2-3 weeks at least. Given how short our season here is in Maine.. who the heck has time for that?! He loves what he does and it shows! I also had him install a Stainless Steel wear ring and Solar Propeller and I HIGHLY recommend BOTH of these. The plastic wear rings are junk and constantly break. The Solar prop has been a game changer. Easily 20% more acceleration. My buddy's and I line up now and I leave them in the wake.
