Barcelona is without a shadow of a doubt, satisfying. The atmosphere is classy and intimate. The dim lighting is a nice aesthetic that makes the restaurant a comfortable place. This restaurant may be more on the bouji side, but no one on staff seems pertentious. Speaking of staff, they are very kind, welcoming, and attentive to guests. The servers are insanely fast when itcomes to refilliing glasses and clearing the table when plates are empty. I also appreciated how knowledgable they all were when asked about specific questions regarding the menu. The restaurant provides a complimentary chef special that is different every day, along with bread. So, right off the bat, Barcelona treats guests exceptionally well. The tapas and main courses are insanely delicous! From the number of items my table ordered, every single one was scrumptious. We had a number of tapas including the pato con cabra al vino (smoked duck breast and wine goat cheese; cranberry gastrique, horseradish pickles, and crackers), pulpo (grilled baby octopus; shaved Machego cheese, chimichurri), and mejillones con chorizo (sautéed mussels; house made chorizo, curry, white wine, garlic, onions, tomatoes, cream). From all the ingredients in the paella dishes, the flavor will not let you down. You most defineitly will get a mouthwatering experience! As for main courses, we had the paella barcelona and filete. The paella barcelona had a zesty flavor with the veggies and the different meats including chicken, chorizo, shrimp, squid, clams, and mussels. You defineitly get a well rounded taste in your mouth with all the ingredients in this paella dish. As for the fillete, it was well seasoned and juicy. Man this spot over delivered. I can honestly say this was the best happy hour I have ever had. We had dinner Saturday night at the bar because the place is busy and we didn't have a reservation. The beers, wine, cocktails, and tapas were all tremendously discounted. We started out with a rose, Patatas Bravas, and Alcachofas Fritos. The potatoes were very crispy and delicious. The artichokes were a complete surprise with a variety of flavor. For dinner we split a specialty paella paired with a white spanish wine. Then we finished the night with their orange almond cake, tawny port, and a seasonal aperitif. This was a great treat which honestly didn't break the bank. Insane flavor combinations. You have to try new things at a place like this and it did not disappoint. I had the fried artichoke and smoked salmon tapas with the white sangria. The salmon was good but wow the fried artichoke was next level. I knew I had to get the paella too and I got the lamb one. Loved the dining expereince here! The tapas style allowed us to sample mulitple dishes which were just the right size to share. Favoriites were the beet salad, cured salmon and costillas. Also good were the caesar salad and morcilla. The drinks were well made and highlighted the food wonderfully. Especially the caffe shakerato, french pear and escorial. It was my first time in Columbus and since it was my bday I was looking for a nice place to go to for dinner, and I ran into Barcelona si after looking at the menu and some reviews and set up a reservation. Bu looking at the restaurant from out side you might get discouraged, but inside is beautiful, the decor is very Barcelona vintage and the staff is very welcoming and attentive. When we ordered drinks I wanted to get the estrella Galicia beer since I been looking for it all over the place but I opted to try out their cocktails, I had the Argyle which was good tasted a lot like an Old Fashioned, my mum had the Margarita Rosa which was beyond delicious. Furthermore, we shared the Ensalada de Pimiento and to eat I had the veggie Paella (should have went for the seafood Paella) it was delicious but I wasn't a fan of the cheese in the Paella. My mum had the Pescado Bronzini which was beyond good. The waiter knew it was my bday and offer a free dessert so we had the tres leches cake, it was to die for but I think one is enough for two. The perfect date night spot. My husband and I checked this place out after seeing the German Village lights. Definitely make a reservation, as this place is typically packed. We had a nice cozy table in the middle of the restaurant. I couldn't believe how big it actually was inside and I loved the decor. As for the service, it was amazing. Our waitress was really nice and helpful. And the other wait staff always made sure our cups were full and our table was clean. Now, the food. It's definitely on the pricier side but it is both quality and quantity. You aren't getting small plates. We ordered two tapas to start and they aren't full meals but they filled me up a decent amount. We went for the patatas bravas and the mussels. Both were great and we polished them off with ease. Also, side tangent... the bread here is great. They give you oil and this tomato sauce that makes for a nice filler. To top it all off... the paella. Our steak paella was incredible. The steak was cooked to perfection, the rice was seasoned well, and all the other fillers tasted great. We had enough left over to feed us both lunch the next day then. Overall, I'll be back again. Barcelona has one of the best patios in Columbus. My fiancé and I come here each year to celebrate my birthday and love it. This time, we were a bit disappointed. They were out of mussels. All of their paellas have mussels! Also they have a wonderful tapa that has mussels! However, the paella we got was good along with the peach sangria. Our service was pretty bad tonight too. This place is unreal. A restaurant with Spanish cuisine that tastes amazing at extremely affordable prices. And it gets better...their happy hour is insane. Small plate for $4-6 and cocktails for $4-5. The small plate portions are realistically between the portion being a small plate and a regular meal. And the options are healthy, yet tasty. I had a roasted & stuffed portabello mushroom. It was amazing. Tomatoes, olives, basil, and other ingredients were immersed within this tasty tapa. Also, the cocktails contained top shelf liquor. It's my second time here and really disappointed. Now the sour dough bread has to be ordered instead of given to every table. The skirt steak was fantastic. The pasta was good too but I had tiny pieces of the shell hidden in the pasta that almost damaged my teeth. We were also charged more for having for split entree when we never asked for the entree to be split. Now comes the seafood paella, which was DISGUSTING. It tasted really rancid, and I couldn't stand it at all. I don't even know how it is possible to have something this rancid.... really unhappy overall. read more

Upon entering this place transformed us to Spain. Colorful tabletops, well decorated walls, incredible patio, and red curtain dividers. The wait staff was friendly and engaging. We started with sourdough bread, bisque, and gazpacho. At first I though why sourdough? Should it be puffy tortilla or something? But it was very good and served with a tomato sauce. The Gazpacho was cool and refreshing however needed acidity. It featured pear and pineapple and came across as too sweet. The bisque was very earthy, deep and rich. It had pumpkins, spices, rice and some pepito on top. I wasn't fond of it. It was strong flavor without the right salt level. After our soups we decided to try a few small plates and ordered olives, lamb meatballs, and fried potatoes. The stand out was the fried potatoes and olive mix. Next we decided to get a paella with seafood, sausage, and chicken. It came to the table too fast and didn't have the wonderful crispy bottom and the rice was undercooked. The other flavors were good but just disappointing due to the cook. Finally we had the poached pear. Again good flavors but the pear wasn't poached long and was tough. I can't imagine coming back. We had 4 smaller dishes including calamari, empanadas, mussels and arrachera (steak dish). All were delicious. We went to Barcelona for our anniversary dinner, and the visit was generally good. The music and atmosphere was nice, but the place wasn't very busy. The patio is of course gorgeous, but it was raining the day we came in. The food was good, but not as good as it has been in the past. The fall seasonal menu isn't as enticing as the summer one in my opinion. Plus, there weren't any benefits to it being our anniversary dinner. In the past at other places we'd receive a free dessert or signed menu or some other memento. That's part of what makes our anniversary dinners so special. Ok. Let me preface this by saying I Am judging the restaurant by the fact that it's a Spanish restaurant in Columbus OH. Not a Spanish restaurant in Barcelona. I've been to Barca it's magical. By no means is it fair to compare the two. That said...Barcelona has some of the best paella this side of the pond! I love the ambiance, the decor and the food brings back memories of authentic Spanish cuisine. This place is one of my go to places in Columbus because the food is freshly prepared, well presented and stays true to the Spanish theme. I'm literally at a loss for words. My husband and I met a friend at Barcelona for an evening drink. Everything was fine, until a man from the kitchen and another sever began to death glare us. It was the end of the night but the bartender made no comment on when they closed or when we needed to leave. However she made a snide comment to another server but pretended it was okay for us to be there. Needless to say we felt beyond uncomfortable when the man from the kitchen came out 5 plus times and continued to glare at us. We began to leave with a drink more than half full and the bartender pretended to act like she cared. I told her about the man from the kitchen and she said "well who cares you're our guests" clearly the most fake comment I've ever heard. My (now) husband and I are just married and we were hoping for a fun night. These people ruined it and I will never be back. Hire nice people. Came for restaurant week and our party of 2 was seated immediately after checking our coats. We were served by Becky who gave us a business card with her name. That was actually really helpful and knowing who she was. I appreciated this little tip! She gave us a drink menu and let us take our time. She was as attentive as needed but also not intrusive at all. I never wanted for more water and never noticed when it was refilled. She was great at giving recommendations and just overall really wonderful. I ate off the restaurant week menu which was $35 for a three course entree and had the bean soup, chicken breast entree, and candied butternut squash for dessert. We started with an amuse bouche which was too sweet for my taste and I can't even remember what it was. Then bread was served and the olive oil plus tomato puree was soooooo delicious!!! My bean soup was warm and hearty. The chicken breast entree was stuffed with fig, I think which was a little too sweet for my taste. The potatoes were done well, but the chicken seemed somewhat dry. I know that restaurant week doesn't always showcase the restaurants best dishes so my partner ordered the paella off the regular menu and it was delicious!!! My only regret is that I didn't eat more of his dish. Desserts were quite good, too. Bill came out to be $100, and we each got one drink. Good food, cute place, great service. This was not my first trip to Barcelona, and I find myself going back for the same things each time. We always choose tapas, starting with the beets and goat cheese and followed by mussels, shrimp, and typically chorizo. Today we switched it up and got the lamb medallions since it was the tapas challenge winner. It was delicious! My favorite aspect of this dish outside of the perfect lamb was that the mint in the mint pineapple chutney was not overpowering, which I find to be the case in so many lamb dishes I try. Y'all -- Barcelona is BACK. Okay, maybe Barcelona never really went anywhere; maybe it was me? Let me explain... When I first moved to Cbus over 10 years ago, Barcelona was *the* place to go. And maybe this was just in my head, but I started to lump it together with some of the other original "fancy" spots that never seemed to evolve or keep up with all the exciting and delicious things happening in the Columbus food scene. Whether it was my imagination or not -- I stayed away for several years. But recently a German Village friend told me how wonderful his most recent experience had been... I was intrigued. Fast forward a couple of months and a friend's uni graduation was the perfect excuse to re-try this old favorite. IT WAS PERFECT. Seriously, it was one of the most perfect dining experiences I've had in my 10+ years in the city. The three big wins for me were: service, ambiance, and of course -- the food. *Service* From the minute we walked in, the service was spectacular. It's exactly the style I love -- technically perfect, but still warm and friendly. All the staff we saw seemed to be genuinely having a good time and enjoying themselves. Our particular server, Layla, was one of the loveliest I've ever had. She was kind, funny, and confident, and she never left us wanting for anything. She made awesome recommendations and actually gave AF about my wheat allergy, easily navigating me through which menu items I could have. (And it was a ton!) *Ambiance* One thing that's never changed at Barcelona is how beautiful it is. It's dark and romantic with the wood and bricks everywhere, and don't even get me started on the gorgeous patio. But that patio is no secret -- everyone knows it's the best in the city. *Food* I've always thought the menu here was a little seafood heavy... and I totally get it... Barcelona is coastal... This time, though, I felt like there were so many more non-seafood options! Not that I don't like it; I'm just super picky. The current menu is glorious and should please just about anybody and any food restrictions/preferences. There's a perfectly-curated list of sausages and cheeses, which I 100% recommend. Nom nom nom. Then there are the tapas -- so many delicious choices! Olives, goat cheese-stuffed avocados, braised short rib, patatas bravas, sauteed shrimp, etc. And of course all the different paella options! We had the short rib and scallop paella, and it was EVERYTHING. When it comes to dessert, Barcelona is one of the few Columbus spots who still takes pastries seriously. This is one place you *don't* want to skip it, trust me. They even make an almond cake that just so happens to also be gluten-free! It was perfect even for my gluten-loving friends. *In the end* I'm so excited that Barcelona found its mojo. But then again, maybe I was the one who was lost... Either way, I'm thrilled for both of us. I can't wait to share more special meals here! read more
