There are tons of eateries to cater to the throngs of tourists that pour into Sitges. Jamie W and I did our best dodging the hawkers and fortunately came upon a family-run jewel that specializes in a melding of Argentine and Spanish cuisines to produce appetizing small plates that weren't small at all. An enterprising local named Martin runs the front of the house, and his cousin mans the kitchen.
Populated with local regulars, the restaurant cast good fortune upon us as we landed a bar table just about five minutes after we arrived. We ordered the 19,5€ pitcher of refreshing Sangria because neither of us are heavy duty wine drinkers (Photo 7). We shared three dishes all impeccably prepared and generously portioned. The first were the 8,5€ Padron Peppers (Photo 10).
They were perfectly charred and blistered as we munched on them nonstop throughout our meal. We must've dodged the tongue-numbing ones entirely. The second dish was the 7,9€ Our Bravas presented as their in-house take on patatas bravas (Photo 6). Coincidentally, we had a similar rendition at a paella restaurant in Valencia just the evening before. The potato chunks were perfectly tender.
Laminated in olive oil, they were covered in a thick tomato sauce and drizzled with a rich aioli. The scene stealer, however, was the entree, the 17€ Argentine-Style Grilled Skirt Steak prepared medium with a side of homemade potatoes (Photo 8). We don't eat red meat much, but they did such a fine job tenderizing the meat that it became meltingly good.
We were so overwhelmed by the portions we did the unthinkable on vacation, asked for a takeout box for our leftovers. Surprisingly, it was Jamie who encouraged us to order a shared dessert, the 8,5€ Charcoal-Grilled Brownie with Amaretto Toffee and Vanilla Ice Cream. Hot off the grill, it was quite a treat with the ice cream holding steady against the melting brownie (Photo 9). A superb meal.
