Once we walked through the Kimpton Epic Hotel Lobby and got the elevator to Area 31 for dinner, we are welcomed by their indoor dining area. Before we knew it, we stepped outside & observed some of the dopest breathtaking scenic rooftop & waterfront views. We looked down & saw views of Biscayne Bay w boats going down the waterway... we looked up & glanced at the night skyline which was beautiful. Definitely 5 Stars for the view, & the terrific ambiance. Chic, upscale, classy w/ a hint of down-to-earth Miami vibe is how I would describe Area 31. Staff are friendly & we received good customer service. We saw people celebrating birthdays at their dining tables while we all enjoyed the Miami weather. After looking at the reviews I presented Mareva 1939 as my top choice. I contacted them and made a reservation for 10 people, and after the first reservation time I had to adjust with Mareva for people arriving in late because of flights. No problem for Mareva and they didn't need a deposit for the restaurant. It is in the National Hotel, next to where we are staying box 1 check. The place was beautifully decorated and staff all attentive throughout the night. That was my criteria not my boss' since the lack of good service can destroy a great meal. The food choices all were excellent but centered on tapas and Spanish cuisine which checked the second box. Served family style we all chose a number of different tapas and shared. Then large patella dishes, they were plentiful and all delicious. Lastly the price, which may seem high for those outside the area but not for those who know Miami Beach. The bill for the 10 of us that included several drinks person and enough food and desserts to leave us full came to $1,002 including tip and taxes. All boxes checked and my boss and team happy, Mareva 1939 was a huge success.

The women's bathroom smelt terrible, like they hadn't emptied the trash in days. The floor was filthy, one toilet had leaked, and there was no soap. Such a terrible shame, it let the whole experience down.
