Stumbled into Bar Luca on Miami Beach during happy hour and walked out genuinely impressed, especially given how rare it is to find specials this good in this part of town. Happy hour clocks in at $12 for food, $12 for all house cocktails, $10 spritzes, and a flat $6 for all beer, which in Miami Beach feels almost suspicious in the best way possible. I kept it simple with an ice cold Peroni while my wife went for the Giardino 75, a gorgeous little spritz built on Empress Indigo Gin, St. Germain, mint, lime, and prosecco. She loved it. The color alone was worth the ten bucks, but it actually drank as good as it looked. For food we shared the Bolognese Grilled Cheese and let me tell you, this thing punches well above its $12 price tag. Thick cut brioche toast, griddled until the edges go deep golden brown, stacked over a rich slow simmered bolognese with cheese pulling through every bite. Dusted with parmesan and fresh herbs, plated with cherry tomato skewers that added a nice little pop of acidity. Comfort food dressed up for a night out. Service was attentive and easy, drinks came quick, plates came hot, and nobody made us feel rushed even sitting through happy hour. The room itself has that playful Sicilian energy with the Moor head planters and bright touches throughout, which fits the vibe of the menu perfectly. Would I make a special trip back to Miami Beach for it? Probably not from Fort Myers, but if you're already in the area during happy hour, this is one of the better values you'll find on the beach. We've been here a handful of times now. The two times we have come to Miami we have stopped here for a meal 2 times. The food is just really good... we really enjoy it. It's indoor outdoor and just a cute spot. The staff is always friendly and kind. The pancakes were awesome- they were just light enough but flavorful with the ricotta whip. The breakfast burrito was probably one of the best we've had - it was different. The cheese and eggs went all the way around and the refried beans with the avocado and a little crunch from veggies was really good. Bar Luca was an unexpected stop for dinner and now has become one of my favorite spots on the beach. Such a cute little restaurant inside the hotel lobby. Service, atmosphere and food were all great. Complimentary olives to start and with a spicy kick to them. The Burrata salad was perfectly dressed and was pretty big. The bread service was great, by itself or to soak up the salad dressing or olive oil with the olives, bread was fresh and crunchy. The pasta was as good as it gets too, good meat to pasta ratio and flavor on point. The Chianti by the glass paired well with all the above. We had a fantastic lunch at Bar Luca! The food and drinks were fantastic but the interior, ambiance, and cleanliness need a little help to match - otherwise it would have been 5 stars. It doesn't look like much from outside and you may not see it if you're not looking for it as it's inside the little hotel, but there were signs. It was surprisingly empty at lunch time and they were in the middle of stocking the bar. Even being empty service was a little slow. There was also a noticeable musty smell in the restaurant overall and bathrooms were not the cleanest, which did not really fit the restaurant and did not do it justice. We walked in on a Tuesday night, not knowing what to expect. The restaurant is tucked in past a hotel lobby. It's located inside a hotel and offers both outdoor and indoors eating. After promptly being seated we were offered the menu and Happy Hour menu. We decided to order 4 dishes from the Happy Hoir menu. Everything ordered was delicious. The crispy calamari was super fresh. The chicken skewers had a lovely pesto sauce. the bruschetta was delightful with served with a healthy amount of burrata. But by far my favorite that we ordered was the Bolognese grilled cheese. It was very filling and had a great taste. The service here was also stand out. Every waiter or staff member we encountered was very pleasant and helpful. The Caesar salad was good but a bit too cheesy and rich for our preference, kind of just tasted like Parmesan cream instead of the slight tanginess that a Caesar dressing has. This was easily one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We were there for nearly three hours for a basic meal, and the service was completely unacceptable from start to finish. It took over an hour and a half just to receive bread, and almost two and a half hours for pasta -- which is ridiculous considering how simple our order was. Meanwhile, multiple tables seated after us were served, finished their meals, and left before we even got our food. The waiter was rude, inattentive, and incredibly unprofessional. We repeatedly noticed her speaking negatively about our table, which is completely unacceptable in any setting, let alone a restaurant. What made the situation even worse was how careless they were with dietary restrictions. One of my friends has celiac disease, and despite clearly communicating this, she was repeatedly brought food that was not gluten-free. This is not a small mistake -- it's a serious health risk. When she finally did receive a gluten-free dish, it was noticeably worse than everyone else's. At that point, it wasn't just slow service -- it was blatant disregard for customers. The food might have been decent, but the experience was so poorly handled that it completely ruined the night. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

We were looking for a place nearby for some drinks and apps that were reasonably priced and saw the happy hour advertisement everyday from 4-6 on their website so we decided to walk there, right at a mile away from our hotel. Got there and literally on the chalkboard outside it said "happy hour 4-6" so we walked in and were told they're no longer doing happy hour (the waiter said they had just stopped recently ) but just shrugged when I said it was still on the website and advertised on their board directly outside still. So my wife and I stopped by to have a late night dinner here while staying in Miami for my birthday. We chose to dine outside even though it was pretty humid but it was a nice intimate setting that was candle lit. For the appetizer we got the calamari which was good but my only complaint was that their seemed to be more lettuce then calamari. For the entree I got the pappardelle pasta which was really good along with the meat sauce they use. My wife got the chicken churrasco which she enjoyed and had no complaints about.
