I loveeeee the vibe at matador bar! It's a really cool hotel bar outside one of my favorite spots in Miami aka Matador Room. I wish they had a better selection of wines but it's pretty good for a hotel bar. The best thing about it is you can get a limited menu from Matador room after 6pm. Favorites: - Ham and machengo croquettes: Crowd pleaser. Comes with 5 little ones and perfect for sharing - Fontina and black truffle pizza with frisée: ok if you order one thing ORDER THIS. It is so next level delicious - Guacamole- always a favorite but theirs is extra creamy and delicious for some reason Oh they also have a band that plays on the weekend! I had a great experience here at the Matador Bar. The cocktail lists are decent price for a highly rated hotel. He was new there but the bartender Emmanuel and Victor took great care of us. They were very patient with guests and knowledgeable with Cocktail recommendations. If you want something huge and picture pretty, go for the tonic based drinks. They are flavorful and pretty strong. They also have small bites and I recommend the crab fritters or the Calamari. :) definitely a spot for a great mixology style craft cocktails. read more

Don't confuse this with the Matador Room, the adjacent restaurant. This bar may or may not provide cocktails for the restaurant. (There is also a bar outside by the pool that seems to provide cocktails for the Matador Room. Perhaps they both do.) The bartenders are knowledgeable, quick, and courteous. Service is much quicker than in the restaurant. Not much atmosphere, but it's relatively quiet compared to the poolside bar--which can be a pleasant break. It's a nice spot for a drink. read more

It was so beautiful, we were staying down the street at Eden Roc, wanted to have a drink before continuing to dinner. My husband had had a business dinner the night before at the restaurant and raved about the food. 5:30 on a Wednesday evening- We sat outside beautiful porch, the server was at the next table back to us caught up in a lengthy conversation with a guest ,working on his laptop- not eating or drinking, in her native language. After waiting for 5-10 mins, I went inside to get drinks the bartender came to get my order as I was beginning to give the second drink. He said he would send a server over to us to get our order. There was not one single person in the huge bar....2 bartenders and 2 servers inside. Went back to sit with my husband. Sat another 5-10 minutes no service and left. The 4 inside, still chatting, turned to see us leave and aid nothing. The one outside was still in her conversation the entire time. Only one other couple was drinking in the entire place...we have had incredible meals and cocktails all over south beach this week and other regular visits...this was the worst of the worst. I've had the pleasure visiting the Matador Bar on a number of occasions and always leave dreaming of the next time I can return. To start, their cocktails are killer, but know you will spend a pretty penny (think $18). They have a rotating menu of specials with some standbys like the Barcelona G&T or Mexican Bull. On my last visit, I had the Mission Viejo which is their take on a mojito. Whatever mood you're in or liquor you prefer, I'm confident you could find something you like. You can also count on quality ingredients and a strong drink that's worth the money... I'm wary of the $30 pineapple drink but alas, if you have the money to spend go right ahead! They also serve a small bites menu of dishes like spicy tuna tartare, sweet pea guacamole, and "crunchy potato nuggets" which are essentially patatas bravas. On my last visit, we ordered fritters of comte cheese and truffle that were really delicious. The menu reflects plates you can also find next door at Matador Room. The atmosphere is what really stands out in my mind. The high walls are lined with photos from French photographer Lucien Clergue that portray the art of bullfighting. There are plenty of seats lining the circular bar, or there are comfier couches if you want to lounge. The bartenders are courteous (like everyone at the Edition), and it's fun to watch them mix and shake in front of you. If you're in the area or dining at one of Edition's restaurants (Matador Room or Market) or partying at Basement, definitely make this a Miami Beach stop! read more

If I had to describe Matador Bar in two words: dark and sexy. It was a windy February evening when I stopped in (back when vacations were the norm... remember that?) for a drink and to avoid being blown down the street. There was plenty of room at the bar and I enjoyed every bit of the swankiness. I enjoyed a few glasses of white wine while waiting for a friend. A beautiful space to chill, enjoy some good cocktails and delicious bites from Matador Room. I especially love the big wall of bullfight photos by French photographer Lucien Clergue. The room is spacious with its ultra-high ceiling and the huge wall of photos that are defined in red, black and white colors--near-perfect ambiance. The food menu is a part of Matador Room's menu. We shared tuna tartare and glazed short rib tacos. Both of them are DELICIOUS! One of the best tacos I had in my life. With dripping fatty savory beef juice, the tacos are soft, juicy, and savory. Chef Jean George, can I have a bottle of the restaurant's signature hot sauce to-go please! A bit pricy drinks ($18) plus 18% gratuity. But the whole experience worth every penny, imo. They make great drinks (some of the best I had in Miami) in a space that, at least in my own head, is the ideal in terms of ambiance, look, and feel. It's simply beautiful there. We stayed at The Edition for several nights and visited the bar very frequently. Chris and Michael, the bartenders, were incredible. As locals, they were extremely helpful with recommendations of local restaurants and bars. Michael, in particular, went above and beyond to serve us. On my girlfriend's birthday he made her special drinks and remembered our favorite drinks. Their drinks were incredible. Beautiful Place! I was recommended by a friend who told me I had to come check out this bar for the golden pineapple. Me and my bf came on a sat night and indeed had the golden pineapples. They tasted amazing, smoky flavor since they torch it at the end as a finishing touch, made w rosemary and a dried pineapple. The place was cute, sexy dim lighting, and they were playing good vibey music. We checked out the terrace for a bit and also found out they have an indoor bowling and ice skating rink downstairs. We went and to our surprise there was also kind of like a club down there too!(playing hip hop) We had a blast! Such a fun place to go! read more

Matador Bar can stand on its own and is separate from the Matador Room. The two should not be mixed up since they both serve very different purposes. The bar is the first point of access when entering into this side of the lobby and it is tucked away in a dimly lit lounge. The room is accessed through the bar, but is further down the corridor and up a short flight of stairs. The bar serves a variety of high-end liquor cocktails and some are very unique. I had been following the postings and news articles since the original inception of the Edition Miami Beach property opened back in Fall 2014 (http://blog.forbestravelguide.com/miami-beachs-three-hottest-hotel-openings-this-year). I kept seeing this copper pineapple cocktail glass photo floating around social media and I just knew immediately that I had to try it. In all honesty, I didn't really care much about what went inside it, just that I got to use this ornate vessel to drink a fancy schmancy cocktail #bliss. I scanned through the cocktail menu with my mind already made-up. My husband got the Mai Tai, after confirming with the bartender that it was a legit drink and not just some girly, sugary, washed-up South Beach cocktail that the chicks order on girls' nights on the town. Side note: Ever since we tried the Mai Tai and Painkiller cocktails at the Emeril's restaurant (Orlando) a few months back, we've had an interest in tasting tropical drinks that are worth trying, albeit if they're truly made well. Back to Matador: The pineapple cocktail was made with a vodka base and topped with a variety of homemade bitters, syrups, liquors; in sum, it ended up tasting like a sweet herbal cocktail. The Mai Tai was mildly sweet, strong, and most importantly pretty darn close to the real deal. Both drinks were tasty. Cost was on average $15 per drink with the exception of my pineapple thing at $30 and the pink flamingo party drink which serves six at around $95 (which we'll save for next time). The bartenders were non-personal, but efficient as they took care of us quickly so, no complaints from this girl. The bar was slammed for a Wednesday night at 10:00 pm so we didn't really expect anything more. We were in and out in about 35 minutes. We decided to walk around the outdoor terrace and pool deck which was pretty spectacular for an evening stroll with fashionable cocktails and people. I would return for this again in the future during a nicer time of the year (July is too freakin' hot!). Also, you can get bar snacks (guacamole, appetizers, chips, etc.) at the bar, but we didn't since we were holding off for the grand event: dinner at the Matador Room. I'll be back. Cheers! read more

Matador Bar should not be confused with the restaurant it sits outside of - Matador Room. Yes, they both serve craft cocktails and delicious bites, but the feel of Matador Bar is completely different. Whether you happen to be at the Edition or just in the area, Matador Bar is worth checking out. Granted, some friends and I came by for drinks on a random weeknight during the off-season. The bar was empty when we got there, but definitely filled up as the night went on. The bartenders working that night were nothing but friendly and eager to please. The drinks they expertly concocted definitely effected my ability to remember their names. We started out the night with the famed smoked pineapple cocktail, made with Absolut Elyx and served in a very ornate golden pineapple vessel. It was very good, and definitely worth ordering once, but I wouldn't rush back for it. We were also treated to a "bartender's choice" cocktail, which was a wonderful raspberry-flavored libation. Heavenly. We also sampled some light bites, which have some overlap with Matador Room, but offer some other unique dishes. The guacamole with peas is definitely worth checking out - the peas add a really nice sweetness. The fish tacos were also quite tasty. I was disappointed we couldn't order Matador Room's famed avocado pizza at Matador Bar, but the pizza on the Bar's menu was pretty tasty in its stead. Prices are typical - expect to spend $12-$18 for a cocktail, unless you go for the golden pineapple concoction (it'll set you back about $30). Bar bites are in the same range. But for the quality of service and the gorgeous atmosphere of the Miami Beach Edition, you can't beat it. read more

Came here for a quick drink before dinner, The hotel itself is pretty and the lounge is located on the first floor. We came around happy hour time on a saturday and it was awkwardly dead. The menu was very interesting and they actually have a drink called the Pineapple served in a pineapple with vodka sherry and salted caramel. It had interesting flavors and the drink glass itself was beautiful but at $30 it wasnt a much larger drink then their average $18 cocktails. If you want an awesome craft cocktail go to the Broken Shaker down the street and pay 12++ for delicious, thoughtful, and fresh cocktails. P.S. It's only my second trip to Miami, so what do I know - but I have been a patron at this fine establishment bar four times now. Great cocktails, ambiance, people watching and food. Go see Danny, an amazing bar keeper, putting the right balance on a whiskey fizz or whatever you might fancy. Order the potatoes and share them with your friend or fellow patron. If you find yourself in temptation to sit at the restaurant for some end of the night sweets after knocking back the delicious adult beverages, no need - just order the chocolate lava cake at the bar and ask Danny to pair with the good stuff. Absolutely amazing experience. Chief Ilkay recommend a few dishes. My husband and I were absolutely overwhelmed by all of the delicious dishes we had. We had spicy crudo, hearts of palm salad, octopus, mushrooms with goat cheese, and short rib tacos. The octopus was the best either of us have ever had! The spicy crudo was perfectly balanced. You can't go wrong with any of the dishes. Our sever Michael was attentive and the food came out at the perfect time which is not always easy with tapas. Each table gets a house made hot sauce that was the perfect compliment to every dish. We are already planning on coming back tomorrow. read more

I am sitting at the bar kicking off my Art Basel experience. A DJ spins a melodic mix of beats to which the candle flames seem to dance. The bar tender, Dennis, is both polite and accommodating as he submits my order, pours my 2nd round and snaps a picture of me at my request before hurrying back to the increasing number of socialites entering the bar from a successful artist's meet & greet party that has occupied the lobby bar for several hours. I will be heading down to the basement shortly, but not before I finish a delicious tuna tartare. The tartare presentation was lacking, but the flavor more than makes up for it's rather sloppy appearance. Overall a great space to enjoy good, drink, company, music and art! read more

My boyfriend and I called at 11:30pm before heading to the bar. They told us they closed at 2 am. We arrived at around 12am when the bartender greeted us with "last call." They promptly turned the lights up and music down by 12:30am. Giving them the benefit of the doubt we asked to bring our drinks to the lobby bar which was also abandoned and housekeepers scrubbing tables with windex. Not the customer service I expect. I really enjoyed my time at the Matador Bar and found the service to be fantastic. Great selection of cocktails and really cool atmosphere. This bar will always be near and dear to my heart because it's where I taught my husband a valuable lesson. What happens when you drag your wife from bar to bar for no apparent reason and are extremely bossy about where to sit when finally reaching a bar that meets your standards?
