Edward had something off the menu that I can't remember the name of, but he loved it, and that's the thing about this place, you can trust the bartenders to make you something great even if you don't know what to order. He clearly does not know how to speak to customers with basic respect and courtesy. We were standing near the elevator taking pictures, just like other guests were doing throughout the restaurant. However, the manager singled us out and tried to push us out of the area while other people were taking pictures without being treated the same way. What made this experience even more disturbing was that we appeared to be the only Black guests in the restaurant. Seeing other people allowed to take pictures while we were treated this way made us question whether we were being treated differently because of our race. Let me be clear: nobody should be made to feel unwelcome, targeted, or disrespected in a restaurant simply because of who they are. Even if there was a concern about where we were standing, there was a respectful way to communicate that. The manager chose to approach us in a rude and hostile manner instead. MILA presents itself as a luxury dining destination, but luxury means absolutely nothing when the people managing the establishment lack basic manners and professionalism. Expensive decor and a beautiful atmosphere cannot make up for discriminatory treatment and terrible customer service. Management needs to take a serious look at how its staff treats guests. No restaurant is above criticism, and no customer should have to tolerate being treated like they don't belong. Based on our experience today, I would not recommend MILA to anyone who expects to be treated with dignity and respect. Absolutely disappointing.
