    Avocado toast
    Linda L.

Delicious food for a hotel restaurant. Love that it is made-to-order for a hotel breakfast option. There's plenty of seating inside with a nice open kitchen area but there's scenic outdoor seating that overlooks the water. On the weekend there's brunch options from waffles and pancakes to salads and pasta. Something for everyone. The food is plated beautifully and everything tasted great. The avocado toast with pomegranate was my favorite. The Cuban coffee was super bold and rich. Get the sourdough bread if you order the two eggs entree, you won't regret it. The oatmeal comes out nice and hot, not sweet with toppings on the side. It was perfectly thick.

We stayed at the hotel for one night and had brunch at Area 31. This was a hugely disappointing experience right before our flight home. Our initial table was terribly placed. When we politely requested to switch to a clearly better, recently cleaned table, the tall gentleman helping us dismissed our concern by saying it was "perfect for you because of the air flows." This felt like classic gaslighting. We had to press the issue for him to finally move us. After moving, he immediately pressured us to order, showing zero patience while we barely had time to look at the menu. After the food arrived, no server ever checked back in. My water glass was never refilled, even as they attended to other tables. The service was virtually nonexistent. I ordered the Maine Lobster Egg Benedict ($32). For a dish at this price point, I expect basic culinary skill. Unfortunately, the poached eggs were absolutely overpoached--no runny yolk at all! Charging $$$32 for such a fundamental cooking failure is unacceptable. The flavor itself wasn't bad, but the technique was terrible and not on par with quality local restaurants. The service is atrocious, and the kitchen execution is lacking for their high prices. Do not bother coming here and wasting your money if you are not already staying at the hotel.

Dinner and views! I absolutely love stopping into the Epic Hotel and having dinner and drinks at Area 31. The rooftop views are absolutely breathtaking featuring panoramic views and the city skyline. Miami has so many restaurants and this one remains on my list. I especially love a weeknight dinner here with the girls and finishing off the night taking pictures. The swordfish or the seabass are some of my go to dishes here. The appetizers are so fresh, and the parker house rolls are divine and absolutely worth getting. The happy hour menu is filled with some great tapas if you're looking for something light. Id recommend the ceviche and the Vaca Frita Gordita, and you can never go wrong with a ceasar and fries. Definitely worth the trip into brickell, even if you aren't staying at the Epic.

Stopped in for breakfast, as it's located in the Kimpton EPIC hotel where we stayed. We sat outside which was a perfect morning for mid-November. The patio overlooks downtown by the water. Our server was fast and friendly. I ordered the veggie omelette and added the chicken sausage to it. The portions were huge! Overall I enjoyed my meal. They even have cute jars of jam for your toast. I think the only downfall is price point is a bit steep, 25+ dollars for an omelette given the location.

Located in the Kimpton EPIC hotel in downtown Miami. We ate here as part of the AMEX platinum fine hotels rewards. We had $60 to use toward breakfast. We both ordered this lobster and crab Benedict and it was so good. It was so much food we ended up not eating again until dinner. The staff was attentive and friendly. They also spoke multiple languages. They do automatically add gratuity to the bill. Not sure if I would eat here if we weren't staying at the hotel, but it was our only option for the breakfast credits.

We stayed at the hotel attached to this place. We came here for breakfast and it was enough to fill the tank, but nothing noteworthy. I will commend them on their avocado toast, which was good-- but my girls makes a better one at home. The green juices are a total standout in my book as is the side of bacon extra crispy.

    Short Rib Eggs Benedict Arepa

My wife and I each ordered the same brunch entree and coffees. The cook on the eggs Benedict was perfect and the coffee was good. Our server was very attentive. The dining experience was five-star. I subtracted a star because our server overcharged us on tip, taking a second tip to an order where the tip was already included in the bill. My intent was to offer an increase over the tip that was already included on the bill. I had to ask for the bill after the transaction was done to point out the "error." Subtracted one more star because we had to wait nearly as long for the hotel valet to bring our car as the time we spent at brunch. Bottom line: food good, check your bill, park elsewhere and get your steps in.

Tried the swordfish. It was good. View is wonderful. Nice find. The view is what you are paying for.

    Parmesan & Herb Crusted Scallops

Staying in Downtown Miami, there's one thing that's clear. It's a city that is spectacular when you can see it from a restaurant with a view like this one. On the 16th floor of the Kimpton Epic Hotel, Area 31 is stunning on its own just for the location. Walking into it, you are already impressed by its chic modern interior. Floor to ceiling windows showcase the towering lit up high rises that surround you. It's only when you walk out onto the terrace that you get the full scope of how grand the view really is. Look down and you'll see the waterways that are lined with million dollar yachts. Don't forget to wave at them as they go by. For the views alone, this place is 5 stars. For the food and service, this is where it lacks.. Our server Danilo was a smooth talker- well versed and knew the menu to sell us on the best stuff. But when it came to coming in to do follow ups to answer our questions about individual dishes, it was apparent that they were under staffed. Had it not been for the gal that was refilling our waters, we would not have been able to track Danilo down. Here's the breakdown: *Parmesan & Herb Crusted Scallops $35.00: creamy sweet corn purée, tomato charred corn relish, herb oil-- The scallops were super tender, sautéed perfectly with a nice crunch on the tops of them. Loved these. *East Coast Oysters $40.00: champagne mignonette, lemon wedge: If you love oysters, these are a must as they were fresh and melted on your tongue. Add in the tiny spoonful of champagne mignonette and these were amazing. *Lobster Mac $20.00: orecchiette pasta, smoked gouda cheese, fresh maine lobster, herbed panko-- Hands down probably the best Lobster Mac I've ever tried. The smoked gouda cheese sauce melted on the pasta was creamy and complimented the tender chunks of fresh lobster meat. Herbed panko was chef's kiss here as it gave it the crunchiness that was so good. *Surf and Turf (Market Price): Whole Main Lobster, Filet Mignon and whipped mashed potatoes: Filet Mignon was exactly how I imagined some good quality steak should taste. Slightly rare, seared nicely on the outside, juicy and tender + marinated just right so there was no need for any extra salt or pepper. *Side of mashed potatoes: Have you ever tried mashed potatoes that don't taste like mashed potatoes anymore because they've been over whipped? That is the only way to describe these-- as if there was too much cream that was poured in and the potatoes got lost in the mixture. The Lobster (which was supposed to be the star) was also where we ran into some issues. I'm not sure if this was just a bad one but it had a "chalky" taste that didn't sit quite right with us. When we mentioned it to our server Danilo, he apologized and said he would go talk to someone yet no one ever approached us to address the situation. We had to flag down our water gal and she went to go talk to our Danilo again. By this time, the food had gotten *cold* and the rest of the lobster left untouched in its shell. A manager finally came by 10 minutes later and said that this was a rare occurrence for someone to complain about their lobster as they set themselves to high standards when it comes to seafood. She offered to have them make another one but both of us were already stuffed from the meal. We declined the offer and instead just had her clear the table. By the end of our time, the manager told us she would take the "lobster" part of the meal off of the bill but she said that this really never happens. It was almost as if she made us feel like she was doing us a favor by taking it off. Not going to lie, it made me feel a certain type of way because it's not something we would lie about. What's it to her to take off that part of the bill and just apologize and thank us for coming instead? That was my only quip about this spot. Other than that, I would still recommend this spot for a great place just to take pics and enjoy a great view of Downtown Miami.

LOVE THIS PLACE! This is the perfect place to go on a date at night, especially being that it's a rooftop restaurant! You can't beat it, this is Food you can't duplicate at home, which is what I love being at home chef 24 seven. Everything on the menu is extravagant, TOP KNOTCH. SHOUTOUT TO THE CHEFS, definitely take their time in the kitchen! We had a little mishap, being that my partner does not eat meat and there was chorizo in the swordfish, but the restaurant was able to recover and make us another dish, which did take a while, but was worth the wait. Even so, they gave us complimentary champagne which was very much appreciated. I definitely need to go back again, it was such a vibe that's the best word to put. Perfect to take a date, friends, family. They have low tables with couches to bring a group. Ugh love it.

The view from the patio area is really nice especially around sunset. The steak itself was well-seasoned, but overall mediocre. The amount of steak is good. Service was very attentive and warm.

Excellent place to come and eat and take in downtown Miami views! It is on the 16th floor so you are pretty high up and great places to take pics but it does get windy up there! Made a dinner reservation for 6p right when they open for dinner but before dinner at 5p you can have social hour by the pool! Small plates and full bar! I recommend the Guac! Dinner was fantastic and really great service! Make sure to get the papas bravas!

Good food and quick service, what more could you ask for? Area 31 is located inside the kimpton epic hotel in downtown Miami. Being that it's on the 16th floor, it offers water and city views of the city. Food here is rather pricey. $15 for an orange juice and $9 for a cappuccino. However, they offer a great mix of American/cuban food. We started with cappuccinos, and my mother had the lobster and king crab Benedict. I had the broken eggs. Both were fantastic and were served to us about ten minutes from when we ordered. The server was very knowledgeable of the menu and attentive. If you're staying at the kimpton I definitely recommend making a trip to Area 31!

Do you need to be 21+ to enter?

No, Area 31 is open to all ages!

    Are Thursdays still tapas?

Unfortunately not. I called them about the same question and they said no. References also removed from their website. Hope they bring it back. I wanted to try it!

Are they currently offering happy hour? September/August 2021

How's the vibe on Friday night? What kind of music do they play?

House music, DJ with sax or violin

    Is it for 21+ only?

It's primarily a restaurant, not a bar/club, so they won't card you unless you order a drink.

Should I make a reservation for Friday night drinks by the hour?

No, first come first served. The lines get extremely long as the night goes on so the earlier the better

What type of music does the DJs typically play here and is a good amount of people during party time?

When I've gone, they've played like house jazz with a live trumpet player. It was great music that pleased the crowd as a whole. As for the amount of people, there's quite a bit, but not too much where it becomes a hassle to walk around. Hope this… Read more

The drinks were really good! My only complaint is the price. Of course handcrafted cocktails are expensive, especially in Miami, but wow. I locked eyes with one of the bartender and she completely looked away from me.. several times :( took about 15 minutes and we reached our arms out and flagged bartender Reilly. Her greeting and attention was genuine so I was happy to get her. Unfortunately, she got busy and we got the initial lady that ignored us. She was not kind, not attentive and didn't really want to help us - she was very fake. With that being said, we had to remind her of our drinks after 20 minutes of placing the order, in which she responded with an attitude "it's being made. We did end up coming back to the Lasseter and got a gentleman bartender that was so kind and attentive and made our drinks even better! The attention to detail and love he made in my drinks, so that is why I decided to make make this a 3 stars rather than two. He saved this place. The toilet sitting area is very warm, not very air conditioned properly so expect to be a little warm especially after a couple of sips. Disney priced drinks without the Disney customer service. Do I want to come back? Yes. Am I going to be picky with the vibes coming from the bartender and chose who to go to? Also yes. Hopefully, I can increase the rating.
