White Christmas and Mulled Mead cider
Lalliet V.

I recently visited Bar Mash to experience their seasonal holiday menu. The festive decorations create a wonderful, cozy atmosphere. In addition to the creative Christmas cocktails, I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts appetizer--they super flavorful.

Absolutely a must visit during the holidays! This bar is all decked out for Christmas. The detail all throughout the bar, amazing. Holiday drink and food specials. The small plate of Brussel sprouts was absolutely delicious. The bartenders were fabulous and attentive. Highly recommend checking out this spot.

Amazing holiday pop up decor! Drinks were to die for. Everyone was friendly. There was trivia going on and shuffleboard was available along with some video games. Lots of people were there but plenty of standing room.

1st stop on our Happy Hour Tour of places to try. Bartenders were friendly, prices were great, seating is plentiful. We didn't try any of the food but it smelled wonderful and the portions were a good size from what we saw. There are many different themed nights to try out here. Looking forward to checking out Ramen & Trivia Tuesdays! We will be back!

Their holiday pop-up was pretty cute, if not a bit cramped. It was pretty popular! They did a great job with their Xmas vibe. Their seasonal cocktails had a distinguishing flair to their normal counterparts like Moscow Mules, Espresso martinis, and mulled cider. Definitely worth checking out this event while it lasts, including the seating space.

This might be my favorite bar in Charleston. It's dark. It's moody. The service is great, the prices are great and the food is great bar. The bartenders are always knowledgeable about their amazing bourbon and liquor selections. They also often have special menu items for certain themes and seasons. The cocktail menu is diverse and if you're looking for a lowkey hidden cocktail bar this is your place. I love the bocce ball court and the shuffleboard table. It's a great place to go on a date or with friends. It's casual and fun and has something for everyone. They have weekly trivia and other specials throughout the week. They also have a good happy hour menu with drink specials and food specials. The cheese dip is a perfect compliment to the high life pitcher :)

The best Christmas pop up! Drinks are worth it. There's an extensive eclectic variety in liquors and zero proof drinks. The holiday pop up is always my favorite place to go. Because of social media it seeks to be way busier than normal. A line starts forming around 4:00 as of right now. Be ready to wait because there is security and capacity is 60 ppl. Wait isn't bad though! Definitely recommend it!

Come here!!!!! Come again! This was hands down one of the best visits we have had in recent months to almost any establishment. Thank you for making a random Wednesday adventure one to shout about. So let's start the shouting!!!! 1st, FREE PARKING in downtown Chas. This great little place has a dedicated parking lot. They share it with a few different businesses but we had no problem finding a spot. 2nd, Such a Vibe!!! The restaurant is attached to the bigger Mercantile but like a smaller, cooler spot. Inside is made for small intimate drinks and bites. We were on a date night but we also saw buddies grabbing drinks and girlfriends catching up. Everyone just fit. Huge props to the two bartenders. Both were kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. 3rd, The FOOD! These burgers were amazing. So good! And the fries......so many fries! All served hot and delicious. You can absolutely tell nothing sat in the kitchen but came directly to table. Also, while chatting with another customer, the bartender overheard us mention Euchre. Guess what?? They hold Euchre tournaments on Tuesday!! No cost, just come and play. I'm absolutely coming back for this event.

Jazz jamz

4 stars for the cool jazz band that was playing outside and the helpful staff on the inside... The place is spacious, clean and outside, plenty of outdoor seating. I'd even call it community-like picnic tables. I ate a small snack, the falafel was actually pretty good. And my draft beer was also, but I can't remember which one I ordered... This is why I always put notes in my photos...apparently that night I was too into the Jazz Jamz to take too much time away from intently listening. Great spot, definitely would go again.

Prime rib special on Monday
Craig S.

Great chill classy bar with some great happy hour specials on drinks and apps. The vibe is trendy with a bocce court and table top shuffleboard indoors. Some nice picnic table seating outside. They run weekly events/specials: for example, Monday has a great prime rib, Tuesday run club, Thursday bar trivia, etc. The bar staff is friendly and helpful for their large liquor menu options. Parking is usually a breeze with the cigar factory shops and stores. Check it out, Cheers!

My running club hosts weekly bridge run/walks that start and end at Bar Mash, and we love this venue. Many of us stick around for food and drinks afterwards, as they have outdoor seating. Plus, the service, food, and drinks have always been wonderful. Mash has craft cocktails for refined palates, but we usually stick with beer, wine, and food. During the winter months, Tuesday is ramen night, and in the summer months, Tuesday brings taco specials. Bar bites like curly fries, nachos, pretzels, and brussels sprouts are perfect for sharing with friends. The happy hour is from 4-6 and can't be beat, especially those $5 daquiris. The bar also hosts live music and trivia if that's your thing. The large parking lot is another plus, although spaces can be tight if you drive a large vehicle.

Mash Burger

Came here for happy hour with some friends and loved the deals they had. The burger was really good especially for the fact that it was less than $10. I got a side of generously portioned fries too. The burger itself had a delicious bacon jam. One of my friends is a big fan of bourbon and apparently their selection was great and very reasonably priced too.

Attended the Halloween Party. Cool venue that also has games for customers to play. Great food! Good variety of beer, wine, cocktails, sandwiches, & appetizers. Bartenders very friendly & accommodating.

We arrived for dinner with our 2-year-old. The tone was set immediately by our server, who was visibly annoyed when I didn't respond to his greeting fast enough because I was tending to my toddler. Rather than reading the situation with any empathy, he sharply said "Hi, miss" in a way that made it clear he expected immediate attention. Not a great start. Things only went downhill from there. My husband had to briefly step away to take a work call, and instead of accommodating the situation in any reasonable way, the server dropped water and bluntly said he'd return "when your husband is back"--effectively refusing to engage with me at all. Trying to make the best of it, I decided to feed my child first. After waiting quite a while with no assistance, I had to flag someone down--who turned out to be the manager. What followed was honestly the most appalling part of the evening. I asked if they could simply warm up my child's food. Not only did she refuse, she told me I could not feed my child in the restaurant. No alternatives offered. No attempt at accommodation. No offer for a kid friendly food item, or no offer to feed her in the hotel lobby. Her "solution" was that I should leave the restaurant and go find some outdoor space nearby to feed my toddler. To make matters worse, she added that "service will start at 6:15 sharp," essentially implying I should figure it out and be back on their timeline. The complete lack of empathy, flexibility, or basic hospitality was astonishing. I have never encountered such dismissive and hostile behavior toward a family with a young child--especially at a supposedly high-end establishment. Mind you we have been to plenty of restaurants including 3 Michelin stars. If you're dining with a child--or frankly, if you expect to be treated with basic respect--I would strongly recommend going elsewhere.

It sets the tone immediately, and the festive energy carries straight through the meal. We kicked things off with Bloody Marys and a Morning Fog -- simple, classic, and done right. For starters, we shared the Hula Hoisin Wings. They were definitely on the heavier side with the hoisin, but still absolutely delicious. The Mistletoe Mango Tuna Poke Tacos were a standout. They come as a small plate with three appetizer-sized tacos, and every bite was bright, fresh, and beautifully balanced. The Buddy the Elf Burger offers a choice of a single or double patty; ours was cooked perfectly. The smoky bacon really brought everything together and gave it that extra "wow" factor. We rounded things out with the O Come, All Ye Fried Rice with Hanger Steak, which was another winner -- perfectly cooked, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. As if the meal wasn't great enough on its own, we happened to be there while Emily Curtis was performing. She's truly incredible and added such a fun, memorable vibe to the day. I'd be remiss not to mention Kevin our server. Go see him. He was great. The whole team works great together. Don't let the bar-like atmosphere fool you -- Prohibition is far from your typical bar food or bar scene. There's a great space in the back, and the elevated menu makes it absolutely worth the visit. Everyone just fits in, no matter if you're the black sheep! Seating is a little limited, but worth the wait. I guess the first person I ran into was a manager, he introduced himself, (legit, "Hi my name is Bryan" and shook my hand!) (Post Script, the handshake is pervasive here, literally both bartenders were introduced to me and both came up and shook my hand.) I had checked this place out from other Yelp reviews and already knew I wanted the Fish and Chips, so after my beer order, I was shocked and awed that without asking, he brought the Malt Vinegar! You know it's gonna be the bomb already! The fish arrived very quickly! Bruh...this fish was legit. A large solo iceberg of fried perfection crested upon a wave of fresh made "chips " and they were clearly fresh made, not the frozen variety. The beer batter on this fish was so good I was in heaven. I thought it might be heavy and greasy, and yet somehow it held only flavor, crunch, and absorbed my Malt Vinegar to perfection. This place is packed with regulars and it clearly seems to attract other service industries personnel. All good signs of a good time! This may have been my first visit, but won't be my last!

We were staying at the Meeting House Inn so were able to easily and leisurely walk to lunch and dinner. Service was excellent, true Southern hospitality, and the restaurant is adorable. Food was amazing, each of the four of us loved our dish and tasted each others as well: - shrimp and grits - 5/5, plentiful and plump shrimp with a flavorful sauce over creamy grits. This was not my dish so I only got a taste and next time we go back I'm going to get this for myself! - grilled salmon sald - 5*5, arugula, couscous, dried fruit, pine nuts, feta, lemon shallot vinaigrette (this dressing is so delicoius! I want the recipe!), two of us ordered this one and again, i got a bite and want to order this for myself next time (see the problem here?) The combination of flavors and textures was amazing. They quoted us a 45-minute wait, but it ended up being closer to 15 minutes -- a great surprise. The service was seriously outstanding. I have zero complaints. Everyone was so personable and attentive. For appetizers, the beef carpaccio was my favorite. For entrées, we ordered the pork chop, tuna, duck, and lamb -- and we all shared bites. Everything was delicious. My pork chop did come out a little dry, but when I mentioned it, our waitress didn't hesitate at all. She immediately took it back and insisted on bringing a new one, making me feel completely comfortable about saying something. While I waited, she brought me a complimentary soup, which was such a thoughtful touch, and the replacement came out quickly. The manager personally brought out the new dish and waited while I cut into it to make sure it was perfect. She even came back later to check again. That level of attention to detail really stood out. To top it off, they brought out dessert and a round of champagne for the table. I wasn't drinking, and they noticed -- so they brought me a mocktail without me even asking. That kind of attentiveness is rare. The inside looked beautiful, and I'd love to sit inside next time to experience the full vibe, but outside was perfect -- not too cold, not windy, and overall just a great atmosphere. Overall, one of the best service experiences I've had in a long time. Highly recommend.

The meal also came with complimentary warm bread, which was nice. The pecan pie was very good, but the crust was kind of hard and there were fewer pecans than I'm used to and more caramel. The ambiance is more formal but people were dressed mostly casual (and chic if I might add).
