After checking out park guell, we wanted to get lunch, I know there are plenty of places to eat around the park, but we wanted to walk away a little bit since we felt as if most of the places around the park were for tourists. this little shop is definitely more of a local joint. The dude working here spoke limited english, and most of the people eating here were local. unfortunately, we came here a bit early and the lunch menu was not an option for us. but we did end up getting two sandwiches that were tasty and quite filling. if you're looking for a cheap, no frill place after your journey at the park guell, i'd recommend checking this place out.

This place was great. I can't recommend it enough. I came in the early afternoon, and it was a bit crowded, but we were able to get seated maybe 15 or 20 minutes after we arrived. A lot of the dishes I was interested in were already sold out at that point, so I would definitely recommend arriving earlier. The food was great though. I ordered off the set menu, and wasn't sure what to expect (and also not too sure what I got), but everything tasted delicious. There's more than enough food (vegetable dish, entree, dessert) to fill you up. The service here was excellent. The staff don't really speak English, so be prepared for that, but they asked one of the regulars there who was British to help us translate. Overall, super friendly and I would definitely come back. Also you get amazing quality for a super low price as well (bottle of wine included in the set menu too).

This place is FANTASTIC! Everything was 10 out of 10. The menu de la día was amazing and all 3 courses exceeded our expectations. Great service as well. Highly recommend!

About to enjoy a typical Catalan lunch in this hidden gem.

We found this hidden gem after walking the Guell Park. We arrived 30 minutes before lunch but the husband and wife owners accommodated us (family of 5) without hesitation. Between our broken Spanish and their English, we managed a delightful meal with them. We felt like we were welcomed in their own home. The servings are big and we had plenty to spare. The food was delicious! Local gem that is worth the stop. Come find them.

This is a no-frill, affordable and quick spot for lunch. I had mussels, meatballs, the free potato and egg cake slice (was served cold-ish), and some pork with fries. This place feels hole-in-the-wall-ish and is pretty small inside. The mussels were steamed and served with lemon. Service was a 3 out of 5. The food came out immediately after we ordered it. That's a pro if you're in a rush but it gave me the sense that the food was all ready and just sitting there in the kitchen, not made-to-order.

Yes Yes Yes! These people will serve you a meal for 10 euros, everything included. Once you walk in it's obvious that this place is loved by locals. The people that come here mostly know eachother and some of them actually set their own tables and grab wine. We came in with a group of 5 and people started reseating so we could sit together. It was quite the warm welcome. Outside was a sign saying they don't speak English very well, but they do cook good. And not a single word was lied. We had a local dish to start with, since it was recommended most of us had it, it was smoked pepper and eggplant. And it was very tasteful, with oil and herbs on top. Second dish was a meat or fish dish. I had the chicken, and it was perfect! We could choose out of several deserts, but I don't know if they were homemaid. We had coffee, because the first two dishes were more than enough!

Oh. My. God. This place is absolutely amazing. It is filled with locals and just a short walk away fro The touristy area of Park Güell. The people working the front of the restaurant (perhaps the owners?) were so genuine and kind and made us feel right at home Totally worth the walk. We were initially skeptical looking at the handwritten English menu but we all made our picks and not one of us was disappointed. €11 for an appetizer, drink, and main course. For appetizers we did the salad rice and the macaroni. The rice salad was rice, vegetables, and tuna and exceptional. Apparently the macaroni changes daily but ours had a red sauce and cheese - It was excellent. We had the cod, hake, and the hot pot chicken. While all were great, the hot pot chicken was by far the best of the three. Hot pot chicken. Get the hot pot chicken!

Mushroom, steak, and egg yolk 9/10: soo flavorful and balance of veggies and protein. Amazing textures and flavors. The foie gras was absolutely unforgettable--rich, delicate, and simply to die for. The sangria was equally exceptional, fresh, balanced, and dangerously delicious. Well, the restaurant was cute and cozy with a great ambiance. With luck on our side, we found two seats at the bar and quickly ordered drinks. We ordered a pitcher of the sangria (because why not?). The sangria was delicious, refreshing, and made to order. It was definitely more authentic than what we're getting in America. We ordered the patatas bravas, tempura asparagus, the octopus, and the steak. It all came out as it became available. We couldn't decide what our favorite was, to be honest. We ordered an ice cream sandwich for dessert and quickly requested our bill. We didn't want to hold the staff up as we noticed they were cleaning the establishment and people were finishing up. Overall, what a great experience for our first meal in Barcelona! Cute and hidden gem.

Taverna El Glop wraps you up in its warm, lively atmosphere the second you walk in. We were a group of four, and from start to finish, we had an awesome time. The open kitchen is a great touch -- you can watch the chef in action, which adds to the energy and makes the whole experience feel more connected and authentic. We shared a bunch of dishes, and everything was on point. The paella was rich and delicious -- exactly what we came for. The patatas bravas were crispy, creamy, and gone in seconds, and the shishito peppers were the perfect salty, snacky starter. Of course, we had to get a pitcher of sangria (okay, maybe two), which was fruity, refreshing, and just strong enough to keep things festive. The space itself has this great, rustic charm -- complete with checkered tablecloths and even an old cigarette machine near the bar (haven't seen one of those since I was a kid -- aren't those banned in the U.S. now?). I don't smoke -- smoking sucks -- but it added a bit of unexpected nostalgia and character. Service was excellent. I always make a point to be friendly, ask people their names, and introduce myself -- and that's usually met with warmth. It definitely was here. The staff were quick, kind, and seemed to enjoy the place as much as we did. Personally, I loved it. It's the kind of place you remember -- not because it's fancy or trendy, but because it's fun, flavorful, and full of heart. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
