This is an update to my review of Bar-B-Que House, and it's all about one of Myrtle Beach's best-kept secrets: the off-menu half fried chicken. A few locals pointed me in its direction, and I'm glad they did. You won't find it anywhere on the menu--this is one of those "if you know, you know" dishes that's worth asking for. The chicken was simply outstanding. The skin was perfectly golden and unbelievably crispy, seasoned just right with a touch of salt, while the meat stayed incredibly juicy and tender. Every bite delivered that satisfying crunch followed by moist, flavorful chicken. It easily ranks among the best fried chicken dinners I've ever had. The meal comes with two sides, but there's one catch: it takes about 30 minutes to prepare. No problem--I happily passed the time with a corn dog as an appetizer. Was that the healthiest decision I've ever made? Absolutely not. Was I smiling the entire meal? Without question. We visited on a Friday evening and it was completely full, however, we got a table pretty quickly. If you're visiting Bar-B-Que House, do yourself a favor and ask about the off-menu fried chicken. Sometimes the best dishes aren't listed--they're shared by locals, and this one is worth being in the know. read more

Went for dinner with friends. Food and service were fantastic. We had ribs which were very tasty and not dried out. The inside is clean and the staff is very good at cleaning tables after customers leave. A bit noisy but we expected it. Will definitely be going back! read more

Wow did we love this place!!! Entrees: Brunswick stew Brisket Ribs. 5 people comfortably dined here and all enjoyed their meal. Service was very good. Note: My Philadelphia Eagles were in the playoffs for a wildcard game and I really didn't want to go out and miss the game. Although I've owned a place in North Myrtle Beach since 2010, I only discover this place last summer...and I've been back at least 20 times. They have a nice size parking lot and a busy drive-through so it's easy to either get your food to go or just stay in and dine. This time I stayed in and dined. You enter the place and there is a sign telling you to "seat yourself". It's clean and well lit with booths around the u shaped dining area and a few tables in the center. Just choose an empty table and set yourself down. The waitstaff is attentive and comes right over to give you a menu and as ask about drinks. Sweet tea is big here as it should be, but they also have soft drinks, wine and beer. I had a seltzer water. In terms of food, this time I went with their 2 meat platter with their award winning smoked chicken and smoked turkey, plus two sides. It did not disappoint. Both were moist with a full hickory smoke flavor...a little dab of the house hot BBQ sauce which kicked it up a notch...perfection. While all the sides are good, I went with the green beans and the collard greens, both chock-full a smoked pork and seasoned to perfection. The collards were a nice mixture of heat, vinegar and a touch of sweetness. The green beans were chock full of flavor and had a nice smoky taste. All plates come with their version of hush puppies, which resemble a small round donut with the texture of flavor of a beignet a,ways served with the house honey infused butter. Fantastic. After the meal, I was so stuffed I barely get up from the table. In previous visits, I've had their their smoked wings, mild, hot, house barbecue or just plain old smoked which I highly recommend. Their Brunswick stew and their brisket are also outstanding. My only concern is trying not to eat there too often or I'll be putting on a lot of weight. When you come down to the Grand Strand, I strongly suggest you come by here or at their other location at Surfside Beach and enjoy the best barbecue in the area. read more

It is very difficult to find good barbecue in the northeast. Although I have found some good spots near home, there's nothing like authentic southern barbecue. This place has it! My wife and I had the brisket plate with hush puppies, potato salad and cole slaw. My kids had pulled pork and ribs with fries. Had just the right amount of smoke and the sauces to go with complimented the meats perfectly. The service was prompt as well. Ordered online and it was ready right on time. We really enjoyed the redneck nachos. They were definitely the highlight of our meal! The brisket and pork ribs we tried were a bit on the dry side, and the wings didn't have the smoky flavor we were hoping for. That said, the service more than made up for it. Our server Kayla was super friendly and attentive, which made the experience really enjoyable. The restaurant also has plenty of TVs, so it's a great spot to catch a game while you eat. read more

Food is hit or miss. We had take out from here a couple of weeks ago. Brisket was half fat, half meat (Manager explained that some people like fat); Smoked wings were in the smoker so long the meat was as hard as the bone (Manager explained that happens some times). Tonight the brisket was lean, juicy; the chopped barbecue sandwich was acceptable but most of the flavor came from the sauce. The management needs to pay attention to quality control on every meal served. Sides are consistently good. Service is good but send the female manager back to the customer service class she missed the first time around. Also, call ahead to make sure the restaurant is open....it closed for an employee party before Christmas and closed again for three days to clean their floors a few weeks ago. read more

Tried this restaurant tonight after seeing a video where the family members were enjoying their food so much. Service was fast and friendly. Lots of choices on the menu. I got the ribs, fries, corn on the cob, all were delicious! Hubby got the pulled pork, onion rings, coleslaw, and he was very happy! Hush puppies come with the meal. I was on vacation from Upstate NY and decided to order from Bar-B-Que House for my dinner, as I had drove past the place multiple times and wanted to try it. I ended up ordering the Pulled Pork, Texas Toast. The food was amazing to say the least. The pork was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I decided to try 2 sauces, Lexington and Eastern. At first I looked at it and thought what is this, thats not sauce (Remeber I am from Upstate NY, we do not have anything like these sauces up here). So, I took a chance and tried it. I was so surprised how delicious both sauces were and yet so different. The perfect amount of smoke flavor, apple cider vinegar, and spices....I now finally understand what real "BBQ Sauce" is. Visiting Myrtle Beach with long time friends (40+ yrs) and looking for local restaurant. Our friends come to the area several times a year and this was their hearty recommendation. Came in mid afternoon, parked right up front and seated right away. Our great server, Rocky, was quick with drinks and suggestions. I was very happy to see among the bottles of sauce an Eastern Carolina vinegar sauce. My wife took the suggestion of Sliced Brisket with fries and white slaw. Our friends picked Ribs and Pulled Pork sandwich for her and Chopped Pork with Beans and red slaw. I decided on the Chopped Pork with okra, beans and white slaw. Our food came fairly quickly, just enough time for me to walk around the place and take some pics. Everyone loved the food. Our friends were right! My Okra was hot and crispy and Pork was wonderful. I just added a bit of hot sauce to the vinegar sauce. Slaw was great, hush puppies hot and delicious. Rocky kept our drinks filled. The meal with ribs and sandwich was large, as were all the "small" plates, so half came back to resort. When you walk in the entrance you are greeted by a wall of awards for their BBQ. Great service, delicious food, great atmosphere with movie posters all around, definitely worth the visit. read more

Went here today for lunch with my husband and son. Son had been before and recommended it. It was very good! Very clean, nice background music, and comfortable booths. Server came for our order promptly and the drinks then the food came quickly. My husband had brisket and ribs with onion rings and baked beans. He's been very critical of other briskets in the area, saying most are dry. He loved it here, said it was moist and tender. Also liked the baked beans, thought onion rings were good but fairly ordinary. My son had ribs with onion rings and fries, happy with all. I had the senior meal chicken tenders with Mac and cheese, would have again. Hush puppies came with all of our orders, a different shape than we've seen before but excellent with the cinnamon honey butter. Husband also is now a fan of the Sweetwater blueberry beer/ale, I also had a sip (or two, LOL) and it's really good! Highly recommend checking this place out. read more

We ordered BBQ from here this evening for the family while on vacation. The food was really good and fresh. The hush puppies were still crispy after transporting the food back to our condo. They forgot one of our sides. We didn't want to drive back to get it so we just chalked it up to a loss. The ribs were really good the sauce was perfect. The chicken was tender and tasted good. We got a bottle of house sauce and some extra cups of spicy. Both were good. The collard greens had a little heat but that's how we like them. I was skeptical about the Mac n cheese but was pleasantly surprised. The flavor was good and we all liked it. We will definitely order from here in the future. read more

I got a cinnamon butter smells delicious. 2 different types of barbecue sauce, ranch, and utensils. Sweet tea is on point. The food was hot and tasty. The meat simply fell apart. I liked to cut into bite sized and dip in the baked beans. was a very decent filling lunch for sure. I spent about 21 on the LG brisket meal. There was so much food I couldn't eat everything. Everything tasted really good. My favorite of the two sides were the onion rings. The pulled pork was ok. They bring a number of sauces that you can try. A few of the bottles were almost empty so we couldn't have much of them, even if we liked them. I liked the honey mustard and slightly spicy ones. Decent barbecue but expensive. Being originally from Memphis, I've had my share of BBQ. Picked up our online order for a party we were attending 20 miles away. When we got there, we discovered that the restaurant had failed to include any buns. I had to run to a store during halftime of the football game, so it worked out. Meat was okay but had very little flavor. Beans were straight out of a can. Slaw was decent. Sauces were meh. Hush puppies were dry. Fried okra was greasy. I contacted the store thru their FB page and someone was nice enough to get back to me. They gave me a $20 store card instead of a refund, which is okay but it means I have to eat there again in order for it to work to my benefit. I really like Old South BBQ better, just wish their beans weren't so spicy. read more

On a recommendation that they had a good burger I went for first time yesterday. Great burger and hand cut fry's. Quick and friendly serviced. We tried the burger and the BBQ lunch special of Carolina style BBQ, hand cut fries and drink for $10.50. That's a good value compared to most bbq prices.
