Huge positive: the staff has improved greatly! Service was really great, which earned the third star. We didn't have a reservation this time and were seated in the exact same spot as our failed attempt last time. Maybe we need more friends to get a window seat! We only had time for one drink, so it wasn't a big deal. I just walked out onto the very cold patio to they the very beautiful view pictured. That view and being able to hold the claim of being the highest rooftop bar in Manhattan allows them to charge $25 for an average espresso martini. Actually, it was overly sweet, but that's just for my taste. It's not made with espresso, rather cold brew, so it's certainly not worth the price tag. Add in the auto-gratuity and tax after tip (I think) and it's a disappointment. The espresso martini at Nizza was way better, but no views. I'll take that any day. I still haven't tried the food, but I'm not motivated to give them a third shot since I've enjoyed the best asset (the view) already. Skip it unless you're really going just for the cityscape experience. read more

What's not to love? The price. If you're looking for a bargain, this isn't the spot. To be expected given the location and those incredible skyline views. It's absolutely worth it just to take in the city from the 54th floor. One nice bonus is that you don't have to be staying at the Hyatt Centric to visit. An average bar that is carried by its amazing rooftop view. With it being the tallest in Times Square, you will have access to one of, if not the best rooftop views. The drinks are pricey and service is slow. The bar itself is somewhat small but the seating and arrangement is good. Who doesn't LOVE a rooftop bar!?! Bar 54 is probably the best spot for a rooftop, 1) for the views and the sunset and 2) there's no fee to access the roof, other than whatever you order to eat and drink. The staff is efficient with taking orders and refilling water. We started with Prosecco then moved onto to some cocktails, each of them were tasty and fresh! Rooftop bars are one of my favorite activities in a new city. I looked for one within walking distance of our hotel near Times Square, that took reservations, and had good reviews for the views. Reservations were easy, and while the glass barrier means you can't look straight down, the vibe is still worth it as a rooftop bar. A glass of champagne and a cocktail set us back approximately $67, including gratuity. There is supposedly a time limit to the table reservation, but we were not hurried at all by the waitstaff. It was a very relaxed time, and it was gorgeous outside in early October. read more

I don't usually visit a lot of bars, but when I saw that Bar 54 was part of the Hyatt Centric hotel that I was staying at, and that they claim to be the highest rooftop bar in Times Square, then how could I not give it a visit? I must admit, once you get past the change in air pressure in your ears, Bar 54 is a pretty cool experience. We visited this bar at night and I'd characterize the ambiance as dark and intimate. This bar serves a variety of drinks and even has a bunch of different savory and sweet food options. Unfortunately, we arrived too late for the cheese plate, but was able to order a coffee creme brulee. I really enjoyed that dessert, not too sweet and the coffee flavor was pretty nice. On the drink side of things, I don't have too many complaints about the drinks. My friend thought his Old Fashion was fantastic, and I didn't mind my non-alcoholic Kiss in the Sky. The main attraction is the outdoor area with the view of the city. Position wise, you can see a lot from up top. However, with the hotel being on a side street, you cannot see all the activity going on in Times Square, but you can definitely see across Manhattan to some extent. The furniture outside is cozy, but if you don't wear the appropriate clothing then it can get chilly with the wind! The good thing about Bar 54 is that you don't need to be a guest of the hotel to visit! The drinks are a bit pricey and you may feel a bit of vertigo, but the views are great and the bar offerings certainly pop! I'd say it's worth the elevator ride! read more

Known as the highest outdoor rooftop bar in NYC, Bar 54 lives up to the hype. The view is stunning from all angles of the bar as you see many famous parts of the NYC skyline, Central Park, and Times Square. The ambiance is upscale with music at a low volume, restaurant seating, and an elegant atmosphere. Staff is friendly and attentive. We chose to sit at the bar and the bartender was good with maintaining a conversation and having a light-hearted mood. Seating is limited so I would suggest getting there early or coming on a weeknight. They are also very strict with the age policy and will not allow anyone under the age of 21 to enter. Prices are more on the expensive side, but they seem worth it, especially for the view and quality of service. I did not get to try the food but would come back to enjoy a dinner and some drinks with family or friends. 5/5 stars! read more

If you are staying at the hotel, this is such a fun place to stop by. I've been several times, during different seasons, and they seem to switch up their specialty cocktail menu. Such a fun view - I only wish I've come during the months where sitting outside was comfortable. And such fun cocktails - I loved the hot toddy during the winter season and more recently loved the lychee martini. They are a bit on the slow side - so definitely don't try for a quick drink before a show - give it some time. Located at the top of the Hyatt Centric Times Square. We had to come check it out because it is the tallest rooftop bar in all of NYC. Ended up coming every night after our long days exploring NYC. It was the perfect unwinding spot. They mainly have alcohol and finger foods on their menu. Their cocktails were unique and well-balanced, and we really enjoyed the spiced nuts that were on the menu too - usually nuts can be too salty or sweet but these were just perfect. Positives - Great view...there is a "balcony" area that you can walk out on and check out the surrounding buildings. It has a great view of the ball drop if you ever happen to go for NYE. The menu is small, but was pretty good. I tried the Margarita Flatbread and the Beef Sliders. Negatives - There was an alarm blaring from the moment we entered the elevator, all the way upstairs to the bar, and while seated and waiting to order. Who knows how long it was going on before I got there. The menu is only available via QR code. My friend didn't have her phone and couldn't look it up and when I tried, the lighting/code was causing an issue and wouldn't pull up. Even the manager had a hard time pulling it up and had to try a few menus, and a spot with different lighting, to get it. I think they should definitely have regular menus on site for things like this. read more

This is located inside of a hotel and there's security or some kind of gate keeper downstairs that's incredibly rude to make sure you're going to the bar. I get why he's there, but that's the first impression of the bar and it kind of tainted everything else. That's where the star comes from, but this place just overall had bad impressions before we even got seated and it made us not even want to get drinks here. Didn't come here for food but came by late an night for a night cap so we had around a 10PM reservation. It's one of the highest rooftops in the city (if not the highest) so it's a popular spot. Be sure to reserve in advance so you can ensure you can watch the view for sunset or to enjoy the lights from Times Square. We came a little bit before our reservation and were able to be seated already. The tables near the window were full but we got a good spot in the back near the deck door so we could see the lights but had access to view the outside. It gets chilly that high up so just bring a light sweater but it's a nice view to check out. Drinks here are priced for the view so ~$20 but they were solid cocktails. read more
