My friends and I visited Bar 101 on a Saturday around 8pm and they had a Duo -singing - Man pair singing different cover songs. They sang pretty good and really engaged with the audience. Tuesday seems to have lately become my favorite day of the week, as in my life there are six Saturdays and one Sunday. Why have I fell in love with Tuesday? Simple... many restaurants hold a weekly "Taco Tuesday" event, where you can enjoy tacos for nearly the same price as you'd pay for nearly the same taco on the streets of any Mexican city or town. Bar 101 Eats and Drinks, located in downtown Roseville, CA recently began offering their "street tacos" every Tuesday for $1.50 each, which is a dollar less than other days of the week. So... it was time to pay Bar 101 a visit, after a 6+ year hiatus... Bar 101 Eats and Drinks is located in the "entertainment" district of downtown Roseville, which is located on the west side of the railroad tracks. The railroad tracks divide downtown Roseville in two. As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the full service bar, and the many television monitors tuned to sporting events. Today I "opened up" the restaurant, and for the first 15 minutes or so, I had the whole place to myself. The restaurant and sports bar is very roomy, and the tables are spaced apart, thanks to the COVID-19 and "social distancing" that is in effect. There are no stools at the bar, as seating at the bar is closed, thanks to the virus. Today was a beautiful, sunny morning, with temperatures in the mid-60's and I chose to sit outside, on the beautiful patio, to enjoy the lovely late morning. The patio has been considerably expanded in the last couple months to allow more outside dining. A small fence surrounds the patio, as per state law with it comes to serving alcohol. From the "Street Tacos" section of the restaurant menu, I went with four tacos, two with carnitas filling and two with seasoned pulled pork filling. Since the tacos are quite small, three our four tacos makes for a filling lunch. The glass of Boneyard beer, on the side, rounds out the delicious lunch. Each taco starts with one toasted corn tortilla, about the size of a DVD. This is the size of tortilla commonly sold on the streets of Mexican towns and cities, which makes for a perfect snack. I was a little surprised to only find one tortilla per taco, as two tortillas is standard in Mexico, but the tacos held together well, and the tortilla didn't break apart. All tacos on the menu are garnished with Bar 101's in-house-made taco sauce, for added zesty flavor. For added flavor and presentation, the plate was garnished with a couple of lime slices, which I squeezed into my beer. The "Carnitas" tacos were filled with savory, slow cooked and seasoned carnitas, and topped with creamy guacamole, along with in-house made pico de gallo, which is diced tomato, diced red onion, cilantro, and a dash of vinegar. The "Pulled Pork" tacos weren't on the menu, but when Kylie mentioned pulled pork, I had to give them a try. The pulled pork was tender, juicy, and like the "Carnitas" tacos, had a generous portion of meat. For garnishes, the tacos had shredded lettuce, along with a helping of pico de gallo. Both varieties of "Street Tacos" were simply delicious, and made for a delicious lunch. I certainly missed the second tortilla per taco, but as I mentioned earlier, the tacos held together well, which is a trademark of a well-crafted taco. Rounding off my lunch was a pint of Boneyard beer, which is a German pilsner type of craft beer, brewed in Bend, Oregon. It's a very robust and delicious pilsner beer, and it tastes similar to any quality, German beer. Any day of the week is a good time to visit Bar 101 Eats and Drinks, but if you're a fan of delicious, authentic Mexican "street tacos," Tuesday is your day to visit, as you will enjoy your fine tacos for about the price you'd pay at a street vendor in Mexico. First time in, we ordered crab cakes and PBJ & Bacon burgers. He liked the crab cakes, to me they were a little too fishy/salty (for lack of a better description). Neither of us were all that impressed with the burger. It needed more to it than just the PBJ and Bacon... a creamy cheese/herbs, something... and the meat needed more seasoning in our opinion. It wasn't by any means terrible, just not something I would personally order again. Service, on the other hand, Brandy (?) was awesome. She recommended some beer options for us and also made a damn good spicy cucumber collins. If half stars were allowed, I'd give this place a 3.5 overall. This place has volume issues. Whether you come for trivia night and the PA system is too loud, or you come for live music and the music is too loud, or loud families who shouldn't bring children are eating inside..... this place is just LOUD. Came here to eat and the food was meh... nothing tasted fresh. But honestly the food wasn't even the problem. Whoever chef or whoever that was in the back was the rudest person I ever heard. I couldn't see what was happening but I heard someone yelling at some line in the back. Very rude. No wonder the food tasted like meh. I don't know how this place even gets a star. My kids where with me and what we heard wasn't something I would say. Upmost unprofessional and disrespectful. I feel sorry for whomever that go yelled at back there but everyone heard what was said. I grew up in a college town and this place made me feel at home. What does that mean exactly? It means there is a mixed demographic all mingling and enjoying live music, a game of pool, and great service. A ton of excellent beers on tap (especially if you're a DIPA fan). First day of the football season and we came here because the advertised breakfast and Sunday ticket. It's nice to watch our team on the big screen but the breakfast was bland and forgettable at best. I had the Touchdown (eggs any style, English muffin, sausage and home fries). First without asking I got my eggs scrambled with unmelted cheddar cheese, next the English muffin tasted like it had been on an uncleaned grill. To top it off, the jam was in a jello shot cup already opened and scooped in. The environment was great, but the drink service lagged, but the server was new. I have been coming here a few times a month or at least once a month for about a year now and it has gotten a lot better and it is very comfortable for me to bring my dog into the patio. It is a great place to go during the day and there are so many great people that also come in. Their food is so incredible I have been trying to get something new every time but it is so hard. The wings are amazing, the fish tacos are fantastic, Pb&j burger wow just everything I have had is incredible. Comes out fast and fresh the servers are always making sure you get your drink refilled or recommend something similar to your taste. On a Tuesday afternoon at 3p I found myself located in the Historic District of Roseville. Service The bartender was a one woman army. She was the only one working front of house but did a good job tending to the bar, patrons, and those seated in the dining area. Bacon Blue Cheese Burger I'm a fan of Blue Cheese and Bacon. Well, this was one of those occasions where this did NOT happen! And this is where I am bringing to you on a trip to Old Town Roseville at "Bar 101 Eats & Drinks". Located directly on Main Street in the heart of Old Town Roseville, this place looks like your typical gastropub that serves your typical run-of-the-mill burgers with beer and well drinks. Well, looks can be deceiving because it is much, much more than that. "Bar 101" offers a full-on mecca of menu options to choose from that I will get into later. The inside was clean, spacious, and offers extra room for dancing and/or live music. Additionally, they offer 13 HDTV's, a 10-ft projection screen, a pool table, and lots of seating for you and your guests. The drink selection is also impressive as they offer 27 beers on tap as well as many known and hard to find bottled beers. They also include a few types of wines as well as all the major liquors in case you wish to go for a well drink. But what had me sold on this place was their food choices. You are able to order an amazing amount of appetizer options (wings, chicken strips, calamari, nachos, and fries) as well as 8 different types of burgers. Everything from the traditional classic burger to the more elaborate peanut butter, jelly, and bacon burger! They also offer a nice selection of salads, sandwiches, street tacos, and fish & chips. I had come here with my lady and our friend on a Sunday evening after spending most of our day bike riding. And you know that type of cardio will build up your appetite. So as our tummies were growling, a nice juicy burger would absolutely hit the spot. And that is where I went for the traditional "Classic Burger" (for $8.95) with a side of garlic fries. If you do order standard fries, they are included in the price while the garlic fries substitute was only $1.50 more. My lady ordered 4 of their "Carnitas" street tacos (at $1.95/each) while our friend went all out and ordered their "Hangover Burger" (for $12.95). And since the weather was mild and sunny for a February afternoon, all three of us decided on ordering cold beers to accompany our food. I had the "Americano Espresso Stout" (8.7%) for $6.50. My lady tried their Hefeweizen while our friend had their apricot ale. All of the beers were iced cold and tasted great. Additionally, we all split an appetizer which was their "Chicken Strips" (for $8.95); best of all, this included a side of their seasoned fries. The chicken strips arrived first and tasted crispy and tender when dipped in their house made BBQ sauce. The fries were on point; definitely seasoned to perfection and made crispy; just the way I like them. Only a few minutes later passed and all three of our entrees arrived! Now I've had some big burgers in my time but I have got to tell you, this behemoth sized burger was ginormous! There must have been OVER 1lb of meat packed inside the brioche bun. And the inside had very generous amounts of cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onions, pickles, and their house made Thousand Island sauce. The flavor was absolutely on point; definitely one of the much better burgers I've had in my time. I also tried one of my lady's carnitas tacos and just like my burger, they loaded it up with meat. I do have to say for a bar/restaurant offering this amazing tasting food at very competitive prices, this place is a true winner in my book. And if you're on the search for top burgers in Placer County, I'd have to rank "Bar 101" in my top 3. It's just that damn good! I do have to say, I was sweating after attempting to eat my last bite of this burger (I couldn't even finish the fries) but it was worth it in the end. I loved the nice and relaxed atmosphere of this bar. We came to watch the Seahawks and Cowboys game. The food was pretty decent. We ordered the carnitas nachos which was really tasty. The chips weren't soggy at the bottom which I was grateful. The Mr. said he wished there were more for the price that we paid. I didn't really have that thought though. I had the Impossible Burger which was on the dry side. The food runner actually dropped off my burger to the wrong table which was next to us. They ended up having to remake mine so I had to wait a little longer; mistakes happen! The Mr. ordered wings and garlic fries. His wings were dry also but the sauce was good. His fries were cold, like as if it sat out on the pass a bit. The game they had on from DirectTV kept going out but it was raining pretty bad outside so maybe that's what happened. I opted for a glass of the cab wine, not sure which one I was served but it was smoooth and mellow, so much that I had a second round. Food: I just had to try the ​Pescado Crispy beer battered cod topped with our pico de gallo, cabbage and jack cheese, Yummy and Fresh must have more next time! Carnitas Fries French fries topped with carnitas, melted jack and cheddar cheese, black olives homemade guac, sour cream, pico de gallo, jalapenos and green onions These were good as well, the fries were crisp, but not greasy and the topping were well proportioned. My lady and I decided to finally try Bar 101 in Roseville this past Sunday morning. It was about 11:15 am, we were a little hungry and decided to swing by and give it a go. Nice, friendly, neighborhood bar atmosphere that included at least one video game, a pool table and electronic darts. We were the first two in the place that morning ... but soon we were joined by a guy who shot pool & drank beer, two couples having lunch and a family that include two young children (well behaved). I started with a club soda and a glass of Cabernet (Hess, I think) and my wife ordered a Chardonnay. The bartender ... who doubled as waitress for the tables ..... did a marvelous job ... on top of everything. Ultimately, I had the Grilled Chicken Cob salad and my partner tried the House Salad also with Chicken. Additionally, we selected the Fried Pickle Chips. The salads were very good, the fried pickles disappointing (soggy batter). My salad included a nice variety of mixed greens, corn, bacon, hardboiled egg and avocado plus onion.
