Wow so good! I'm a professional cook. I'm not easily impressed, have been called a food snob many times. That being said I was honestly impressed with my meal at Bantum. My SO ordered the flounder frito appetizer, fish was perfectly cooked loved the lemon aioli & the tapenade was devine. I did wish there was more of the tapenade though. Entrees... I got the porchetta which was delightful & tender & so flavorfull, i would've liked more squash & less speatzle though. SO got the ny strip special. It was also rediculously delicious. I got 1 bite & he devoured the rest like he hadn' t eaten in months lol. So on to dessert... apple crisp, it was delicious served in a mini cast iron pan with a giant dollap of house made vanilla ice cream on top . Dinner for 2 our bill was $100 so kinda pricey but totally worth it. read more

A world class restaurant right here in Peterborough. Excellent menu choices and everything you want in service and comfort. Staff is friendly and know the menu inside and out. I am really glad the owner has started to make changes to the interior at his other restaurant in town. Awesome find but in an odd little strip mall. Didn't have reservations but it didn't matter. Waited 20 minutes at the bar, got a drink and then we were seated. I had the Bantam Chicken which was terrific. My coworkers got the Burger and the other got the Maple Bourbon Glazed Salmon which he said was interesting but he probably wouldn't order it again. There isn't an aspect about this location that i do not enjoy. The bar is located in a very ambient location at the front of the restaurant, the paintings lining the side wall with tables, the rear of the restaurant. All dishes are both equally beautiful in taste and presentation, you literally can't go wrong with any selection. The drink menu is also very well presented and fancy and a must try. Deserts were the closest thing to not spectacular, i could have passed on desert. I even liked the art work and sink in the bathroom, I am sure i will be back soon. read more

We dined Friday night at Bantam Grille and it was excellent. The tomato bisque soup was amazing. We also tried the beet salad, brussel sprouts and fried flounder. The brussel sprouts needed salt, but were cooked well. The salad had a complex mix of flavors and the flounder was crunchy and tasty. Our dinners were all good, but a couple of them stood out as outstanding. The filet dinner was perfection. Butternut squash risotto, balsamic reduction and onion strings with a filet cooked exactly as I ordered it. The lamb ragu was equally exceptional. The salmon dish had a cold cucumber salad served with it and was well executed. The one dish that fell a little flat with flavor was the short rib. It was lacking the flavor of the other dishes. Dessert was ok. The chocolate tiramisu was homemade but needed more than lady fingers, chocolate mousse and the marscapone cheese. I didn't give it five stars for a few reasons. The service was good, but lacking the finesse we expected from a restaurant like that. One dessert came out made wrong and all dinners were in need of salt and pepper. read more

My husband and I stopped in last Friday. I had the mussels and angel hair which was delicious and he had the flat iron steak which was phenomenal. We liked it so much we went back the next night and both had the flat iron steak It is quite possibly one of the best we've ever had. It was so tender and fresh and a great cut of beef. Not to mention cooked perfectly medium rare. The mashed potatoes and green beans were the perfect accompaniments. We live in CT and visit Peterborough often during the warmer months and we are so glad to have found this restaurant. Priced very reasonable for the quality. We showed up on Valentines Day without a reservation, yeah, I'm that guy. We were seated right away. The ambiance is nice, white tablecloth tables in the open area, booths and seats at the bar. My wife had the Bantam Chicken and it is a 10! I had the Zuppe de Pesce with red sauce and Pene it was very good with a nice zip. The service is excellent, the bartender had a Hungarian white that was fantastic! Ask for it. Great restaurant, we will be back soon. read more

Wow! We've been coming here for 3 years and have not been disappointed yet. The food, the cocktails and the service are stellar. Tonight, we changed things up and sat at the bar an Morgan was fabulous and kept us on our toes. We've dined at a table of 2 and up to a crowded table of 12 and the service is always spot on. I adore how accomodating this establishment is, if we have a sleepy baby or a person with food allergies they always act like it's no big deal and are very helpful. I have a few menu favorites but I traditionally go with the special and I'm never disappointed. read more

The Bantam Grill has casual elegance, New Hampshire style, with delicious food and outstanding service. The blackboard listing the farms and other food sources is a good tip of what's to come. It is 70 minutes from our home in Londonderry (figure 50 minutes from Nashua or Manchester) , and well worth the drive. We shall return! They do a great job of working with seasonal, locally sourced food.Every dish had a superb balance of flavors and textures: bruschetta, martini, vegetable soup, mixed seafood in saffron sauce, mixed vegetables, and homemade tagliatelle in lamb ragu. This summer I have eaten my way through NYC, Seattle, and Palo Alto. And now I am home and just back from the Bantam. This place is as good as it gets for us. It starts with the very skillfully preferred drinks. I had a Negroni, prepared with Uncle Val's gin and an artisanal vermouth. Perfect combination of bitter, herb, and citrus. The bartender was kind enough to provide a small sample of each ingredient. We nibbled our way down the menu, starting with a summery salad of local beets served with mixed greens and a light pesto. We also had an appetizer of fried flounder over a great crunchy slaw. The flounder was perfectly cooked, moist and crispy. We split a Bantam burger, a loosely pattied, perfectly cooked local treat. (And served with some great Wisconsin bacon.) The Bantam shares ownership with the Pearl. The menu couldn't be more different but the skill behind the bar and the attention to details and flavors showcase this lineage. This is a great place to eat or just have a cocktail. read more

I had lunch here. Nice ambiance, short menu, good food, strong coffee. It's quiet. Not crowded at lunch on a weekday. I got fish and chips. Fish was perfectly cooked with a crisp outside. It came with French fries and those were way above average. Most places I won't even eat the FFs. By the time I was finishing my meal though I felt I had overdosed on oil though nothing felt greasy. The cole slaw was quite interesting and very good. Contrary to some other reviewers I found it was quite strong tasting. Coffee was strong, had some bitterness but did not taste burned. I just wish it had been hot;-( Price for fish and chips was about what I've been paying at Milford Seafood and Grill, but the surcharge to substitute something else for the French fries is a lot higher here. Still I would rate this as a great place to take a date or company from out of town. It's on 202 just south of the center of town in a shopping center on the west side of the road. My girlfriend and I stopped by on a Sunday evening. We were greeted at the door with a cheerful smile by our hostess! Soon we were sat at the two bar corner seats which we requested by reservation and promptly given menus, followed by home made bread. Our bartender was great, she was cheerful, happy to serve us and was very knowledgeable about the menu, explaining some of the unfamiliar menu items and terms. She even took the time to recommend not only pairings but samples of wines for my girlfriend, and drafts for me. Our food was delivered by a very perfessional and friendly staff. Each bite was absolutely amazing! My only complaint is to have smaller serving sizes so we had room for desserts. The couple next to us said the desserts were made in house and definitely delicious. Went here on a Friday night at 7:00 and were very disappointed they would not give a reservation to a party of four after 6:30 over the phone. However, when we arrived they said they were booked for the entire night but just had a 7:00 cancellation...at a table set for 4! They also had three booths that seated no more than 4, and we saw people come in after us that had reservations for 4, and still the restaurant was not full! Not sure what that was about but it did not make for a good first impression! The food was good, portions rather small, and prices high. read more

We had heard that Bantam Grill was opening and decided to go spur of the moment, not expecting to get seated. We were delighted to get a table in the busy but not overwhelmed restaurant and were delighted by the food and service. The food and drinks were excellent. We had a perfectly mixed cocktail, followed by a delicious appetizer and two excellent entrees. The food was really delicious and perfectly prepared (pan seared scallops with caramelized brussel sprouts and a cauliflower puree to die for, and a porterhouse pork steak that was tender and flavorful), and the service was prompt, efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. I hesitate to write this review because I may not get into the restaurant once the word gets out, but the whole experience (especially the food) was too good not to share. read more

Came here on a Wednesday around 815pm, seated ourselves in the bar and within 5 minutes my wife had the best margarita in her hand. Ambiance was a relaxed causal atmosphere with around 7 others seated at the bar. Waiter/bartender was easy going and provided a very friendly demeanor. I had the grass fed burger medium rare with truffle fries ( very good but lacking salt IMO) and my wife had the chicken and bacon carbonara with homemade pasta. My wife has a severe shellfish allergy and they made sure that she was taken care off. Would I go back again? Most definitely! The drink menu is unique and the entrees deliver! read more

Had a wonderful dinner here last night for Valentine's Day. They had created a special menu for the occasion which included three courses, cocktails, and wine for a very reasonable price. Their prices are, overall, entirely appropriate for the quality of their food. They had live music, too! Every time we've gone we've appreciated top quality food. The ambiance could be improved a bit- it's a bit brighter than it might be and the ceiling could use an upgrade. This has no impact on the dining experience, however. The cocktail menu is of especial note- there are classics as well as some really innovative drinks. The molten cookie dessert is a must. read more

This was my second trip to Bantam. I am still just as impressed as the first time. I've had the Flounder Fritto, duck fat roasted broccoli, lamb stragozza, duck confit drumettes, spicy sausage farfalle, and the molten lava cake. I have not had anything that I didn't like. The pasta for the lamb was a little bit thick for my personal liking, but the handmade pastas are awesome! Very good flavor and cooked perfectly. We made a reservation at Bantam partly based on our great experiences dining at Pearl Restaurant which is owned/operated by the same chef. We ordered the Bantam Chicken, BBQ Brisket and the Zuppa di Pesce. The chicken dish was presented sloppy in a bowl with sauce (more like soup) that completely diluted the whipped potatoes and was overcooked (I ate the middle which was a little moist). Others in the party thought that the BBQ Brisket and Zuppa di Pesce were OK but did not stand up to other restaurants in the area that offer similar dishes. The vegetarian option that was ordered was not available and the substitute offered by the chef - pasta primavera - was prepared well with homemade pasta. However, the bread that was offered before the meal (and with some of the main dishes) was dry and uninspired. It appeared to be a day old variety, but it might be intended to be that way? Unfortunately, the service was also lacking on this particular day. When we were initially seated, the restaurant appeared to be half full. We were later made aware that the only servers on staff were one waitress and the manager which caused a delay in getting water and drink refills. We didn't have the option of returning any dishes that didn't meet our expectations due to the amount of time that passed between our meals being delivered and the waitress returning to see how everything was. Also some of our remaining dinner dishes were not cleared before dessert/coffee (discarded mussel shells remained on the table until moved to the waitstaff's reach). The high point of the meal was when the waitress informed that our coffee and desserts were on the house due to the long wait for various reasons. The consensus is that this will be our first and last meal at Bantam. read more

I eat here several times a month and the food is consistently delicious, no matter what you have. My favorite for lunch is the cheeseburger. Their french fries are to DIE for, the best french fries I've had anywhere, in any state!
