We've never regretted a meal a Bantam. The apps are amazing, and you can make a meal of those. They'll split an entree for you, which is a nice option.

I was very impressed during a recent trip to New Hampshire when my local friends brought me to Bantam Grill. I mean, I understand the decor is a little ehhh (photos of chickens on the wall although funny doesn't really complete the look if you get my drift). Looks aside, if I lived in the area or visited again I would happily return. I know my friends frequent the joint quite regularly. The bread was hot and served with oil and balsamic. A good way to hold off hunger until dinner arrived. The menu features a lot of really enticing items. Portions are quite large and prices are pretty low (I guess I'm used to big city prices so I could definitely get used to this!). I really love that the pasta is homemade. Speaking of pasta, the dish I tried was called Lamb Strangozzi. This is a pasta shape I am unfamiliar with. I was told it was a thick fettuccine and that's exactly what it was. The lamb ragu was rich and decadent. Along with the chewy pasta, it created a dish that was comforting on a cool night when I was craving carbs (and apparently stewed meat as well). My friends enjoyed the scallops and bbq brisket, and both looked fantastic and featured large portions (the scallop dish included 6 hearty scallops, which is very generous for a scallop dish by usual standards). I can happily say that Bantam Grill impressed me with its food. If it were located in my local area, I might not run there, but I'd happily walk to try the food again. In an area with less options than Providence, I would definitely run there. I think it's a great spot overall!

A great place for dinner for 2. Small Eclectic menu but it had something for each of us. Scallops were perfectly cooked and the ribs were tender. A small nook with a unique flair.

Lava cookie with condensed milk ice cream. Best thing EVER!

21B Bar & Grill opened in September 2024 in Jaffrey, across the street from the town common. This…read morecozy bistro serves dinner and drinks several nights a week, closed Mondays & Tuesdays (in 2024). Reservations are encouraged since table seating is limited, but they have seating up at the bar. The main food preparation area by the chef is in the back corner of the dining room and another kitchen in the back. For food, they offer a selection of homemade dishes with local and European influence including a selection of starters, soups, salads, main entrees (chicken, flank steak, pasta dishes, seafood, vegetarian), and housemade desserts. They also offer specials and a list of wine, cocktails and mocktails. The prices are moderate here. After checking out the Halloween decorations along town streets, I stopped by 21B Bar & Grill on Main Street, which is not affiliated with 21 Bar & Grill in Keene. I did not have a reservation since this was a last minute decision to have dinner here and I took a seat up at the corner bar. I was given menus to look at and I got an ice water to start. I was going to order the Beef Wellington Puffs for an appetizer, but they sold out. I ordered the Blini ($13 plus tax) for an appetizer and the Pumpkin Fettuccine Alfredo ($19 plus tax) for an entrée (special dish). The Blini came out first which were three dark round smaller pancakes topped with smoked salmon and crème fraiche. This starter was pretty good, but it did not resemble the blini in their online picture which had 4 stacked small light colored pancakes and less salmon. The Pumpkin Alfredo with a slice of garlic toast was a good portion of firm cooked fettuccine noodles smothered with a thick creamy pumpkin alfredo sauce (orange color). 1 thoroughly enjoyed this entrée and decided to get dessert, which was a Pumpkin Tiramisu ($10 plus tax) which was a small piece layered with espresso soaked ladyfingers, cool creamy layers topped with whipped cream. The check was presented which was $43.96 with tax and before tip. Overall, the food had was very enjoyable and the staff seemed pleasant. They were asking customers where they were coming from including locals from Jaffrey & Peterborough, folks from across the MA border, and myself driving from Concord after work. I will very likely return back here for dinner again so I can try out their French Hunter's Chicken, which looked very appetizing and one of their most popular dishes.

I had the Peachy Chicken--chicken in a light sauce, jasmine rice, green beans, and piece de la resistance, the marinated peaches. I have no idea what those peaches were marinated in but they were super tasty! Boyfriend had brussel sprouts to start and then the steak frites. Steak seemed to be a little fatty but otherwise no complaints. Not very busy on the Saturday we went which is a shame because it's nice to have an option like this in Jaffrey.
