My partner had been coming here for years with his family saying how good this place was, so he decided to take me here today to try it out for myself. Literally the best bahn mi I've ever had. Toasted baguette, warm pork and delicious pickled veggies. I finished the entire sandwich and immediately wanted more. They do not use a homemade or any version of real head cheese ... kind of a disgrace to the actual traditional banh mi where the head cheese is one of the key meats that actually makes the real deal banh mi (Viet meatloaf, head cheese, roasted pork... if a banh mi place doesn't have these three in their banh mi dac biet then their banh mi will never be worth it). Passed through here on my recent trip to the area as I love vietnamese cuisine, especially bahn mi's and vietnamese iced coffee. Bahn Mi Saigon delivered on both fronts. I had the #12, which had both grilled pork and pork belly (a combination of two separate sandwiches). Everything from the bread to the meats and veggies was fresh and high quality, which is very important to me. The coffee too was good, strong, and refreshing. Don't let the look of the plaza, or the look of some of the seedy characters walking around the area, deter you from trying this great local Vietnamese restaurant. It's usually these small mom and pop businesses that are the best! In this case, Bahn Mi Saigon fits well within that category. I'll definitely be back on my next trip to the area. read more

I was craving the traditional BBQ pork sandwich, it's the grilled pork one on the menu for $6. There are other sandwich options, and snacks to choose from. They made our order fresh and it came out within minutes. Perfect for a grab and go lunch! The sandwich itself was nice, the pork was flavored well with all the traditional toppings, cucumber, jalapeno, carrots, cilantro and mayo. I liked the crispy bread but keep that in mind if you're eating in the car. It made such a mess but it was worth it and totally satisfied my craving. We have recently entered a bahn mi and Vietnamese coffee kick...and this place is here to the rescue! I did a "Vietnamese coffee" search on Yelp and it led me to this and many other places around the same area. This was the only one open on Tuesday so off we went! The parking lot for the strip mall was pretty full at 11:10am - and we weren't sure about the look of the surrounding area with seemingly closed or shut down businesses - but do not let the outside fool you. When we walked into the place, it felt lovely and cool and clean. There was one woman behind the counter making all the sandwiches and drinks and just a few people ahead of us. She was moving swiftly though, so we weren't worried. She took our order and told us to sit and she'd bring it to us. Soon after, a family of like 15 people walked in! Clearly, this is a very popular place! A few minutes later we had our bahn mis and coffees - I ordered the #9 - pork roll and grilled pork (no jalapeños) and hubby got the #1 - pork roll and pork belly (all the fixings). Holy cow - they were both DELICIOUS! My favorite thing about bahn mis is the freshness of the ingredients and the veggies mixed with the warm meats - and this was no different. The bread was lightly toasted and still warm and soft inside, the meats were flavorful, the veggies were crisp and fresh. They were also a decent size but not overwhelmingly large (some places give you giant sandwiches that I can't finish or feel too full afterwards!) These were a great size and a great value. All sandwiches between $7-$9. All in all the perfect combo! We heard her say they have their bread locally baked and delivered each morning! We could tell. The coffees were the perfect accompaniment. The table had several condiments including fresh chili sauce, hoisin, a siracha-like sauce and some soy. We enjoyed mixing these up and dipping our sandwich into the different combos. It's just the one Lady in there but it was empty. After a few minutes she had my food ready and off I went. One thing it's Cash only, so bring some greenbacks. The inside is small but there is tables to use, a few cold sodas and sparse chip selection. The prices are so cheap and the food is so well made and delicious you have got to try it. Once i got back to work i dug in, the smell on the way back was making me crazy. Tried the pork skin one first and the hoagie was awesome crunchy outside, soft inside and stuffed to the max with everything that makes Banh Mi. She wraps it in wax paper with a rubber band and slips some soy sauce in. I devoured it in moments. I was so hungry i ate both! The meatball was even better than the #8. This has been my go to banh mi spot for over a year now! I could not ride harder for this place. Upon entering you'll notice it's a 1 woman shop while she also keeps her kid in the back and entertained, very very impressive in my opinion. Despite this, she does not disappoint. I get the banh mi dac biet every time, cut in half, with extra carrots and daikon, which she gladly adds at no extra charge. It is consistently the best dac biet banh mi I've had in pinellas county and of all the shops i've been to. Perfectly toasted bun and great flavor in every bite for only $4!!! I do also enjoy the thit nuong banh mi, which is also very good for $5. I also recommend the Vietnamese coffee, good portions and great as always.
