We went to Riverwalk location. Beautiful, interesting building inside. We ate outside and it was peaceful and perfect. We loved it before the food even came. We are used to Thai Bamboo bc we live on South Hill. This is a step above. Fresher. More distinct dishes plated with a flair many times. My husband and I were raving about the food. Will definitely go back. Husband got their Born and Raised IPA. Loved it. I have only given about three restaurants a 5 star rating in my life so this is a very high rating for me. read more

But, yesterday when I returned for the first time in over 10 years, it was just not at all the food I remembered. This is the place that introduced me to the wonderful world of Thai. We had not been here in quite awhile but felt like having thai so we stopped by. Unfortunately there was a Christmas party going on so where we sat....all the people from the party kept standing behind us and around us to order drinks at "the bar" which was very annoying! All of our food was great. The fresh spring rolls were BIG and a great value at 4 rolls for $10. But....they bring the peanut sauce warm, which we did NOT like. Next time I would ask to have it served cold. We also had sweet and sour chicken which had a nice sauce, the beef in oyster (lots of mushrooms) and the fried rice. Everything was delicious. My only recommendation is that you order at least a "3" if you like spicy. We said we usually like between a 2 and a 3 and the server didn't help us out at all so we ordered a 2....afraid it might be too spicy at 3. There was NO SPICE AT ALL! That was a bit of a bummer...but it was still good. The downside of this restaurant as well as the No Li Brewery is the parking. This place has the worst service. We've been twice and both times were not acknowledged for several minutes. We we finally did get someone to serve us we have always gotten our food before our drinks. Tonight we ordered takeout, not only was the service bad once again (no acknowlegemnt), but the curry was overpowered with raw onion and not at the spice level requested. Hands down the worst dining experience in my 57 years of life. We decided on dinner at Bangkok Thai based on the recommendation from our tour guide at Dry Fly Distilling after the four of us did a tour and tasting. He said "Bangkok Thai is the best Thai food in Spokane." He walked us over and we got a table on the patio overlooking the river. Nice spot. We ordered a round of drinks from the prompt, courteous server. My gin and tonic showed up (made with Dry Fly gin) looking like it had sat in the sun for an hour. It tasted flat and watery. My friend was so disgusted by it, she took it back for me. Meanwhile, her husband's Long Island Ice Tea shows up, except it tasted a lot like a Margarita which my wife ordered. We all determined it was a Margarita but a lousy one. The beverage menu said the Margarita was made with "fresh lime juice." Now I'm getting upset. So, I went and talked to the bartender who, it turns out was our server. He is busily fixing me another gin and tonic when I tell him the Long Island Ice Tea was actually a bad Margarita. He starts to fix another Margarita and cracks open a bottle of lime juice. Obviously not fresh squeezed. I mention that the menu says fresh not bottled lime juice. That's when, what I thought was another staff member, gives me a semi friendly shove and cracks a joke about fresh lime juice. I look at him incredulous and he backs off and says he is a staff member at the hair shop next door. I mention to the server/bartender we were considering leaving not wanting to risk the food since the drinks were so bad. The hair shop guy promises me we won't be disappointed in the food. The new drinks show up and the Long Island Ice Tea is also not very good. At this point I need to mention one of our friends in the party has a seafood allergy and we made this clear to the server who assured us it wouldn't be an issue. We had ordered our food before the first drink rounds showed up. I ordered the most expensive item on the menu, crab fried rice made with dungeness crab and crab claws. I confirmed with the server it was fresh dungeness crab and was it a whole crab for that price. He said it was half a crab body and four big claws. Sounds good, I love spicy Thai fried rice and based on the recommendation of the Dry Fly guy, let's go for it, four spicy stars out of five please. My wife and one friend ordered Tom Kha, four stars and three stars respectively. The Tom Kha orders show up. Our other friend, the one with the seafood allergy starts to get delivered a plate swimming in mussels and seafood. We remind the server of his seafood allergy so he moves across the table to me and puts my crab fried rice down in front of me. Only, it's chicken fried rice. I point this out as he misses spilling half a cup of seafood juice from the mussel plate into my wifes purse on the ground by the chair. He never notices this but says he'll go check on my rice, leaving the chicken fried rice in front of me. I don't eat this but wait patiently. My wifes Tom Kha is mediocre but has some spice. Our friends Tom Kha has no spice at all. Our other friends dish is ok and he never did get an allergic reaction thank goodness. Finally my rice shows up. I immediately notice the small snow crab claws on top and say something. The person who delivered the dish walks off. I eat one of the not good crab claws and one bite of the not good fried rice with no spiciness no other visible crab meat and go looking for the manager. I ask the person at the register, who also delivered the crab fried rice to me, to see the manager. He says he is the manager. I ask to see a menu and point out the dungeness crab specification. He then says, "you assulted one of our patrons." I say WHAT!!! He tells me if I don't leave he'll call the police. I tell him to go ahead, call the police. We walk over to the bar and confront the guy from the hair shop still standing there taking up space. He nervously tells us I did not push him. The so called manager still threatens to call the police. I'm just flabbergasted. I go tell my party what happened. The Tom Kha eaters finish their meal with the gravy ladle supplied (literally, a gravy ladle.) The seafood allergy guy finally asks for a fork and some napkins which never showed up so he can eat. I never took another bite after the initial sampling. One of our friends speaks to someone about the ticket because I'm about to lose it. The ticket shows up and it still has chicken fried rice on it. She goes to fix the ticket again. I finally go in person to cash out because there is no way I'm giving these yahoos my credit card unsupervised. As the manager cashes me out I again mention my disappointment and he, again, wants to talk about assault. God, what an awful experience. Not sure how they stay in business. And, this really makes me question consumer information sites. Besides our experience the food was not good and very pricey for Thai food. 4.2 stars overall, please!! Horrible experience read more

Honestly there are so few good Thai restaurants in Spokane ...this restaurant has so much put into it from its Decore to its river view, great servers and obviously well trained cooks. Worth the slightly higher prices..but most Thai in Spokane isn't cheap If you wanna go with the basics to start off your experience I recommend the chicken satay its served with peanut sauce and a nice cucumber salad. Or I love the yum salad with beef as well (15) at like 4 stars yummy For an entree I like the pad gra pow with pork(35) it's a delicious mix of meat, sweet basil and just enough veggies The garlic chicken(37) is also really good at about 3 stars Curries r my favorite and I'd say try it with fried tofu, I love it . My favorite is probably green curry gang keaw wan(25) or panag curry, both come at about 2 stars a nd I like them at about 5. If u don't like spice massaman curry has minimal spice as is it has peanuts onions and potatoes in it Don't forget dessert, I love the sweet mango sticky rice which is warm sticky rice with ripe mango and warm coconut milk on top! If joann is working she will make u a delicious mai tai or margarita. I just want to add that I know Thai food well my mom is Thai, I've been to all the restaurants and eatin her home cooked meals, I've had them in Thailand made authentically and if I hear one more person say Thai bamboo is good or worse say they r best in town!! This is the worse Thai restaurant ever we visited ever. Worst food .. we ordered pad-Jew-maw and pineapple fried rice !!! First thing they didn't put pineapple in pineapple fried rice .. how can you forget to put pineapple!!! .. worse thing.. also both the food doesn't have a taste !! What the hell!! Never will i ever go to bangkok thai on the riverwalk. While the wait staff is great the owner and manager are horrible. They make the service awful and the atmosphere unbearable. After a meal there the manager was nothing more than a hostile bully to me. I contacted the owner with great difficulty, and expressed my concerns and wanted an apology and instead got nothing. No meal is worth the feeling of being physically and emotionally bullied by someone the owner kept in place knowing he bullies his customers. Do not waste your time and money there. There are other excellent thai restaurants in spokane to frequent where you are treated with human respect. If i could they would not get any stars. read more

Delicious! Ever since I went to Thailand, Thai food in many respects has been effectively ruined for me. I haven't been able to find Pad Thai that tastes remotely similar to what I had there, until I went to Bangkok Thai! I've also had some of their curry dishes, pad see ew, and pineapple chicken, of which were good. I especially love their lunch deal and that they give a discount to GU students! I'm going to miss this place when I move to Seattle, especially since I haven't found somewhere there with Pad Thai that is up to my standards! The one thing I don't like is the brewery small that seeps in from No-Li, but I consider that a small price to pay for such yummy Thai food! read more

We just happened to drive by and Thai food sounded good so we decided to give it a try. We shared pad Thai with shrimp, cashew chicken and yellow curry with chicken. 3/5 on the spice scale was slightly too spicy for me on the pad Thai but I'm kinda a wimp when it comes to spice. Great location, in a cool building. We dined here at about 7pm on a Sunday with a party of four. There was only a few minute wait for a table along the window overlooking the outdoor seating deck and river. Our server was attentive and was not intrusive of our business dinner. I ordered the Larb Gai salad as I love larb and Thai food in general. I travel to Thailand and Southeast Asia often and have had all kinds of larb. While I felt the serving of protein/chicken was generous and it was as spicy as I specified, I was surprised by how dry and under seasoned it was. Additionally, I was also surprised there was very little greens and veg to go with it. My fellow diners had fresh rolls, kai yang grilled chicken, and also a mango sticky rice. The rolls were very basic but the peanut sauce was generous and flavorful. The grilled chicken had a unique flavor and was juicy. The mango was under ripe and tart, but the sticky rice itself was delicious. Overall, despite the aforementioned shortcomings, we enjoyed our meal and the setting. read more

Tasty, Thai food! We had the Pad Thai, the Pineapple and Shrimp Fried Rice, and the Masaman Salmon. All were extremely well done. The Pad Thai was as good as it gets. We like Pad Thai that is based on tamarind paste rather than ketchup and this one filled that bill. The noodles were done just right and the consistency of the Pad Thai sauce was just right. The shrimp in the Fried Rice was fresh and peeled all the way to the last tail segment. Although we could have had more pineapple chunks, the freshness of the shrimp made up for it. And the rice had a nice coconut curry underflavor too! The Masaman Curry was the piece de resistance. Floating on a bed of asparagus spears and masaman curry sauce, the salmon shone. The Masaman Curry sauce gave it a bit of a kick to remind you that this was a dish with an Eastern base! The service was nice and attentive. Our attendant was extremely polite and catered to our every need. The only wrinkle to our evening were a pair of pesky flies that had made their way in on this warm summer evening but the flavors we tasted this evening made them a pesky non-factor. read more

I realize that thai food is not always the easiest to digest -- but I wasn't expecting to have stomach pains for hours after ordering take out from here. As a Gonzaga student, I frequent this restaurant at least once a month and have never experienced anything close to this. My pad thai was a strange dark brown color I have never seen before, and the chicken was drier than a Spokane Summer. Regardless of the convenience of Bangkok to me, I will not be going back... at least not for a while. I don't think I'll be craving thai any time soon. Popped in for lunch recently. Two wait staff for 12 tables but service was very slow to take order and for food to arrive. Appetizers came with entrée. Chicken Hot Soup had more chicken in it than my entrée and it was evident they come from the same supply (same size and scoring).
