BanBury Golf Course is hands down my go-to spot for golf in the Treasure Valley. It is not only beautifully designed but also rich in history. BanBury, a public course in Eagle thoughtfully designed by John Harbottle III, has consistently ranked among Idaho's top 10 public courses by Golf Digest for nearly two decades. The course flows gently along the South Channel of the Boise River and offers both challenge and charm. It was the first in our area to host a USGA championship, the U.S. Junior Girls. They are also adding a new simulator building next to Harvey's, their on-site restaurant. The space will feature three TrackMan simulators, full club-fitting services, and direct access to the bar, which sounds perfect for practice or a post-round hangout. My favorite part is sharing this place with friends. The golf course is pristine and welcoming. The staff is phenomenal, especially their PGA pro Drew, who gave me two lessons and runs fantastic group clinics. I always leave feeling more confident on the green. The restaurant side is just as amazing. The team, especially Law, knows our order so well that last visit he brought us our Arnold Palmers before we even asked. We always round out our day with lunch. Chicken tacos, Caesar salad, Reubens, burgers -- the food never disappoints. For evening golf or dinner, their prime rib and salmon are standout dishes. BanBury offers a flawless blend of great golf, excellent instruction, warm hospitality, and delicious food. Played Banbury this weekend on a visit to town. One of the premier courses in Boise for decades, the decline of this course has been rapid since the departure of the original management team and greens keeper. Once the best public course within hundreds of miles, is now a shell of itself. What used to be a destination for me any time I was around, has become a once a year stop at the most. It's upsetting, especially considering how high the demand is in Boise for an elite public golf course. This weekends round was made especially miserable because of two factors the course absolutely had control over. The first being that myself (single digit handicap) and my partner (mid-handicap) were paired with two young men in their 20's, one of which had never played before. Needless to say, he was miserable, as were we. I had to buy drinks for the group behind us to apologize. Most egregious however, was that the course decided to let a group of FIVE people out in the middle of a Sunday afternoon, to film some Tik-Tok Golf Influencer "content". Our front nine, playing behind these folks took over 2 hours and 45 minutes, but then after the turn Hole 10 took 31 minutes BY ITSELF! By hole 14 we had decided to go ahead of them, and then were verbally accosted by the group as if wed done something inappropriate. And all of this cost me well over $100. The course conditions were mediocre and torn up, and it was crowded and slow even without the influencers. Highlights included awesome service from the folks in the restaurant and bar, and the young lady driving the beverage cart. All of which were affable, friendly, and made sure to take great care of us. Also the gentlemen in the Pro Shop were very professional, and understood my frustrations when I went to speak with them post round. I won't be back to Banbury this year. Might not be back again unless there's major changes to the operations and standards at Banbury Golf Club. Here's hoping that happens, because it sucks to see a world class golf course end up like that. read more

Rating the golf course and staff, not the restaurant. I golfed here on a recent Sunday morning with family. Staff were rude and not attentive which is surprising considering that they charge $100 for 18 holes and a cart. The golf course itself was average condition and pace of play was slow. There are better courses in the area, Falcon Crest, River Birch and Timberstone to name a few. read more

Great place to play in the Eagle/Boise area. Grounds are immaculate, plush fairways and be g undulating greens that are tough but read well. Water comes into play on nearly half the holes and the course weaves through the beautiful homes and by the river too a couple times. Highly recommend! read more

"A good walk spoiled." That phrase is attributed to Mark Twain to describe golf. I am in the late author's camp. Although I grew up among a family of golfers and I "speak golf-ese", the very phrase "Golf course restaurant" gives me indigestion to think about mealtime conversations of birdies and chip shots and putts and the lie and.... The word "Golf" makes me respond as did Maynard G. Krebs at the word "Work". That said, different strokes (no pun intended...well, OK maybe) for different folks and this review is not for this public course, but for the restaurant. It is worth a shot to swing by for a meal and libation if you enter with the right expectations for what it is and isn't. FOOD: & LIBATIONS: It is a public golf course coffee shop. It is not high falutin' food. If you take a gander at the menu, it seems to have been crafted in and unchanged since 1986. (How about that "Oriental" Salad as example? What are they thinking on a couple of fronts.) Sandwiches are listed under "sand wedges", burgers under "best ball burgers", salads under "on the green" and the soup of the day is "kerplunk". (If you don't know "golf-ese", what sound does a ball make when it hits the water?) . A "fore" call that If you don't eat chicken or beef or pork your options will be pretty limited. Good to know going in. They have a full bar but this is more of the T&T (Tanquerey and Tonic) variety than expecting the bartender will make a caipirinha. Wine and beer are also available in a few choices. All things considered, it worked out swell for my husband and me for a simple sandwich or salad plus a gin and tonic a time or two when we were moving into a rental house. At the end of ten hour long work days without eating, we were looking bedraggled and exhausted and this was a good little local option. SERVICE: Service was friendly and we noticed that some of the folks who came in were obviously grandparents with little grandchildren in tow ("Grandpa do they make Shirley Temples here?"). It was sweet. VALUE: Prices are on par reasonable for the coffee shop level of food. Gin and tonics are a bargain price. THIS N THAT: 1) PARKING: Ample in the private lot. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Accessible parking in lot. Level in and throughout Nearly all seating is standard height. 3) WINE DOWN WEDNESDAYS: On some or maybe all Wednesdays in the summer starting at (roughly) 6:00 pm there is an informal "all are welcome" gathering with live music and typically an Idaho vintner pouring samples of their wine. Six of us ladies went to lunch here. The waitress, Sharon, was outstanding!! She helped us in making lunch decisions and gave us a great deal of information. The food was terrific and had large portions. (I suggest sharing). French fries and tator tots were yummy! I highly recommend dining here. read more

Last week I went to the Pro Shop to inquire about renting a golf cart to tour the course. I recently bought a home on the course and was curious to see the lay out. The two guys working at the Pro Shop were fantastic and provided me with a map and explained the lay out of the course. They also told me that If I needed a cart for a short time they would not charge me. When I returned a week later and inquired about using or renting a cart to tour the course, the "Boss" told me that golf carts were available for golfers only and if I wanted to tour the course that I could do it on foot or pay for a round of golf. I found this a bit strange because I see people on the course every day driving golf carts with no golf clubs in them including people who are spectators following golfers during tournaments. I have been to the restaurant a few times and found that Tina, Joe and the rest of the staff were incredible and welcoming. The service is excellent! Perhaps the "Boss" at the Pro Shop needs some customer service training. read more

Been golfing here for the last nine years and have always claimed them to be one of the best courses in the area mainly due to the great customer service. That was not my last experience yesterday. The guys working in the pro shop outwardly made fun of my friend(behind his back) for wearing something on his head that was necessary to cover his skin condition. One of them used the 'F' word while customers were around. After the round I decided to have a hamburger that they were grilling outside. I went to pay for it and was told that it would be almost $17 for the hamburger. Fine dining establishments might charge this but it would come with a nice atmosphere and sides to go with it. What person decided that $17 would be a good price for a hamburger served at a golf course? read more

Great public golf course. Challenging for sure but fun for all skill levels. The bar is great and the staff is wonderful. Unfortunately they do a lot of weddings and you can tell that is a focus. The restaurant food is ok but but not great. Maybe better at a wedding reception? Course is walkable. Driving range is automated so you can use it all all daylight hours. Large practice putting green, and nice chipping green for practice. read more

We made reservations for Easter Brunch at the restaurant on the property based on reviews on Yelp & other sources. Good god, it was HORRIBLE!!!! It was a train wreck from when we walked in. Our table wasn't ready. Then I looked around after being sat & every table was waiting on food. Over the phone I was told it was a brunch buffet, we get there & you have to order off a select menu for things. Example my husband ordered the prime rib plate, it came with eggs & hash browns. So the kitchen makes the eggs & hash browns, my husband had to get up & get his own prime rib from a station & there were 3 other tables around the restaurant with only muffins, scones & fruit. My son (3yrs old) & I got the waffle plate, I was told on phone that it was a waffle station. Oh no, he and I waited over 45 min for the kitchen to make us waffles, we then had to get up & put the fixings on ourselves from a table across the restaurant. No bottomless mimosas (that's not mandatory, but it's a perk at brunches). I was just told A LOT & received very little in person. The reviews on Yelp were good, so I was blown away at how crazy, weird & just plain sucky it was. read more

We've lived on Banbury Golf Course and played on a regular basis for 16 years. The course and staff have been exceptional and green fees have been reasonable UNTIL the past few months. The carts are very run down with ripped seats, missing and squeaky parts. Most carts do not have coolers, ball washers or divot repair mix and the windshields are in very bad shape. The water containers were removed during Covid and have not been replaced. When asking the staff about restoring previous water stations, their comment was "have you ever seen the inside of one of those containers"? Not very reassuring that they ever cleaned them. Take extra water with you because there are very few stations to fill your bottles. In addition, the green fees have gone up considerably. With that said, the course has a nice layout and is very picturesque with plenty of water hazards. Banbury is very convenient for us but we will be exploring other course options. read more

Played this course multiple times and it's been great. Except lately when I booked a tee time online for a set price that it showed for that time/day and once I arrived and checked in with the pro shop, the kid tried to charge me $20 more per person. I showed him the email with the price I booked it at and asked why he's trying to charge me more and he made up some excuse about how the online rates must not be correct and I said that's not my fault that your website is messed up and showing the wrong pricing. He kept saying there's nothing he can do about it. So after 10 mins of the kid arguing with me and asking for the manager multiple times, he finally got him and explained the situation and he adjusted the price to the original amount I booked for. I've also heard them doing this to a few friends of mine as well and it's not right. I've never booked a tee time online then had them try to charge me a different amount at check in. If they keep this up, the word will get out in the valley about Banbury and they'll have an empty course. I know I won't be going back to play here as I don't even want to deal with the possibility of this happening again. Also, their prices have gotten out of control. There's plenty other better courses in the valley for way cheaper. read more

Okay, let me preface this that I came here in the winter and it was a slow day, so maybe they were just having an off day. I never leave a bad review out of emotion stemming from a bad moment, this review is strictly from the food. I ordered the Philly cheese steak per a recommend from the waiter. It was the worst Philly cheese I've ever had: stale bread, dry, gross meat, and no condiments. Cheese was bad too. Then the fries were gross. The experience is still memorably bad 12 months later. This review is only about the restaurant, I have never golfed here but it looks like a beautiful facility. The reason for my poor review is because of my displeasure in the catering services at function we attended recently. We paid $50 per ticket for what was supposed to be a prime rib and salmon dinner but shortly after it was announced that dinner was served, they RAN OUT OF FOOD (I was told by the event organizers that there were actually FEWER attendees there than they told Banbury to expect). By the time I made my way up to the catering tables all that was left was salad, rolls and vegetables. They hastily threw together a subpar chicken alfredo to serve to the numerous guests who missed out on the steak and salmon ... very dissappointing! read more

As a bride, I am extremely disappointed in BanBury Golf Club for the poor communication and unprofessionalism. I called to inquire about having a ceremony-only wedding on a Sunday in 2017. The Director and I discussed pricing and budget. She said "It's definitely possible" and will confirm the price with me within a few hours or first thing on Monday morning. I called to follow up with her on Monday afternoon. She told me it would cost $300 - for four hours, with chairs included - and assured me I could use that time to take photos there too. I was thrilled and made an appointment for the following day to meet. Three hours before our appointment, she called me to say that our meeting is canceled. After speaking to her boss, it turns out that they no longer accommodate ceremony-only weddings when they could have a ceremony and reception instead on Saturdays. "There's a large price difference." I asked to please make an exception, because it is on a Sunday. I asked to speak to her boss (which did not happen), and she continued to say that they usually don't book ceremonies that early in advance anyways. I am upset that I was given false information from the get-go. Her entire communication was misleading and nothing was honored. I would expect BanBury to have a professional, clear, and consistent plan in the services they offer. Unfortunately, this was not my experience. This was a huge let down and got my hopes up for a dream ceremony spot for no good reason. read more

Played here a few times. One of my favorites in the valley. Strange this time the number of ball marks on the greens and particularly unrepaired ball marks. They had a few "repair ballmarks" signs. I guess their patrons are above fixing them. Can't help wonder if homeowners on the course aren't going out late with their shagbag. read more
