The hostess welcomed us with checking our Temps and directing us to the hand sanitizer. Once the hand sanitizer was pointed out to us, we began making our way over to it. She than began to get rude by telling us we do not listen and asked in a snarky way if we knew where everything was. Once we were seated we had a question about the menu posted on the wall and once again she was snarky and replied by telling us we should have listened. We did get up and leave. We proceeded to Duffy's next door, where the service was much better and we did not feel attacked. Also, after a review was wrote about what happened, she wrote back using lies. Love this place. I love the lay back and chill vibe it gives off. It is right in front of the ocean so it comes with a nice view. Food was delicious and so were the drinks. Our party of 9 surprisingly was able to fit in a small space. (Place is small yet spacious if that makes sense) Must go if you visit the island! Waiters and staff were very nice. read more

Fish on the other hand was juicy & fresh, it's hard to go wrong with this one 4 stars: Mussels in Curry Sauce -very fresh with interesting light curry flavor. 4 stars: House-made, Habanero mango hot sauce-very spicy so be careful w/a hint of mango's sweetness. A must try. 5 stars: Perrier- cold French water with sparkling bubbles. Nice way to change it up when you've had too much rum. I will say to try this restaurant if you are with a big group of people that are less adventurous about food. It's 50% Puerto Ricans, 15% Caribbean, and 35 % American cuisine. So there is something for everyone. Or you just want a quick & simple lunch and are on a budget. Cons Service was not the best and did not get silverware when my food came out. The food was bland and desperately needed seasoning. This place is not Vegan and vegetarian friendly. 18 percent gratuity may be charged and the server will determine when a guest will be charged. This restaurant is actually attached to a little guesthouse. Just across the street is a beautiful view of the water. It's also on the busier more lively strip in Vieques. So if you're staying overnight during weekend or holiday, this is great as there is a crowd and lively music. The food is was pretty solid and standard. Not the top dining experience during the trip but it was convenient and tasty with enough options for the table. I ordered the carne frita and it was so soothing to the appetite. The pork was wonderfully cooked along with the rice and beans. After running around all day from the ferry to the beach to getting a taxi to this area of the island fora biobay tour, the meal was well needed and satisfying enough for an overnight stay. Pathetic service. OK food. We had escargot (too salty), Mahi bites (deep fried, no taste), baked feta cheese (not identifiable) and mofongo balls (excellent flavor!!). Several beers. Plus guava chessecake (yummy). Our table was not level and my wife accidentally tipped over her full glass of sangria. Waitress M (not friendly at all) offered a replacement but ended up charging us...oh well. Overall, we had 3 different servers and automatically were charged 18% service fee. It was just the 2 of us, and we challenged the automatically added charge, we got a huge push back saying thats the way they do it, no discussion. Normally OK but service just wasn't there and that's the whole point of leaving tip. It seems they get away with lousy service because they can 'stick it to you' regardless of effort. I go to bananas a lot. I'm in love with the hot honey wings. Two large orders in a night, sure, no problemo (okay a little bit of a problem, it's a lot of wings). Garrett usually sees I'm taken care of. He tells me all the secrets, like he's the best server there. It's possibly true. I also like that they compete on deserts. Dining here was the worst part of our Puerto Rico trip. Atrocious customer service. Food was uninteresting and mediocre. One member of our party brought up an issue with their order and the response was beyond unprofessional. We tried to bring the issue up to both the host and the younger waitress but their response was to just shrug it off. The older waitress then approached our table and was immediately hostile, rude, and immature, rolling her eyes and making exaggerated fake-nice expressions. Unsure as to why she even approached our table as she wasn't our original waitress and instead of offering a solution to the issue she unnecessarily escalated the entire situation with her attitude. She stated she felt she didn't have to deal with it (not sure what she thinks customer service entails, but it obviously does involve addressing customer concerns. Also, again unsure why she even approached our table if she wasn't interested in finding a solution to the problem). Our party had to suggest a solution which the waitress agreed to only after much protest and lots of attitude. After reading the many comments left on these reviews by the owners it's clear that the waitress' lack of decorum and class is not unique to her and is instead emblematic of this entire establishment (encouraged even). Based on the fact that the FOH staff are non-native to Vieques and don't even speak Spanish it's clear that they only serve tourists and don't care if their customers have a negative dining experience as they are only temporarily on the island. There's no desire to build a loyal customer base and it shows in both their food and service. "Dining out is not a necessity it's a privilege" Working in a customer-facing industry is also not a necessity! If you lack the emotional maturity to handle customer concerns you should not be in the service industry. If you are more interested in creating conflict with customers than serving good food then you should find a different line of work. You are too old to be acting like you're in high school. Grow up, find a job that you're actually passionate about and good at. Bill next door was fantastic and I would highly recommend their food and service. Rancho Choli was also a nice hole in the wall place with a great home style ambiance. There are good places to eat in Esperanza, Bananas is not one of them. read more

Surprising at how good this place was. My expectation was that it was just another bar with food. But they actually had a great menu and it was fresh and delicious. They even had quite a few vegetarian dishes which could be made vegan, but not all of these are listed, so please ask your server. Also totally kid friendly with a good kids menu. Server was really great and took good care of us. Can't really comment on the drinks, but others seemed to be enjoying them.
