Whole Fresh Snapper
Claudio N.

Our experience was really good here with the excellent service, fresh seafood & lively ambiance. Bar drinks were large, generous portions @ reasonable pricing ($10-12 ea). Service was in English, quick, attentive & well described. We had several seafood platters all delicious with generous portions then topped it off with ice cream bread pudding! ttl for five was 200. We recommend this place for anyone going to Vieques please bare in mind to get here you must take a Ferry (we did from Ceiba) currently $2 but increasing soon to $22, private boat and the island is 100% rural full of forests with most private wood frame homes run down like a hurricane just swept thru there, many ex pats live here full time. Try Caracas beach you will like it with easy access there were couple other beaches harder to reach we did not go to.

Kind of a tourist trap- the tours highlight this place. But the food was pretty good a the drinks were strong. Service was friendly.

This open-air restaurant caters to tourists in Esperanza and has views overlooking the water. The host was rather rude, however our waiter was great. The sliders and salad were just average, calamari appetizer included bits of lettuce which is unusual, and they were out of a ton of menu items from the busy weekend. The coconut flan was pretty good. Apparently they just recently re-opened the upstairs bar with sunset views for 18+, however they only serve drinks up there, no food.

Mahi-Mahi bites, my son said they were yummy!

Wanted so badly to like this place as it was RIGHT next door to our airbnb, but alas- service was not great and our server was borderline rude. Was condescending when an adult asked to order off kids menu. Music was loud and someone kept overtaking their Bluetooth so they were having issues. Our food was delivered before we ever got drinks (1 of which was half melted down before arriving due to sitting for 10 minutes undelivered). Probably would not return. I get it, it's hot, lots of tourists, but at least be a little nicer ‍

Seafood mofongo

The best part of bananas was the stunning outside restaurant. It's the perfect place to watch the sunset in Esperanza. Food wise, everything was alright. The mofongo wasn't bad. I expected better pina coladas, where they were tastier at other restaurants we dined at. I'd come here to enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant, but the food was pretty average.

I went on a solo trip to PR and took a day trip to Vieques. First of all - the island itself is incredible. Wild horses, black sand beaches, and IMO the friendliest locals. I spent my afternoon under a palm tree/exploring and worked up quite an appetite. I looked up places nearby and the island is so small that everywhere is pretty accessible, but I'd been near Esperanza pier and Bananas was like a 5-10 minute walk away, if that! I sat on the patio and had the most amazing view. The patio overlooks the Caribbean ocean and the most beautiful water. There's chickens and roosters that wander around the streets and restaurants but i think it's cute, and they don't bother you. I ordered a Diet Coke and the mussels to start. The coconut milk and garlic in the mussels made for the best flavor, and the bread that came with them was perfect to soak up all of the juice. For my entree I got the key wester sandwich with coconut crusted fried snapper, which was a nice compliment to the mussels. The sauces were great and a nice option to pair with the fries. My server was attentive and friendly, and even gave me some tips for things to do around the island. I will 100% be back!!

Sweet plantains

I'd consider this a tourist trap. Located on the strip with a pretty view the drinks are good I tried the dirty banana. The sweet plantains were good as well. The sandwich was one of the weirdest things I've ever eaten. It was a coleslaw filled panini with cheese and tomato. The panini was not warm though. They had a very limited selection of vegetarian options and the last thing I expected in a Caprese panini was coleslaw and it not to be warm. The sauces were good though with the fries. I tried the key lime aioli they do charge for it though. The key lime pie was ok nothing fantastic and it wasn't very lime flavored. Service was not great they didn't check on us once we had our food at all and just brought the check once we were done. Pricy lunch for what I'd consider below average food. No air conditioning open to outside restaurant.

We did a "Hop on Beach Tour" so our tour guide took us to Bananas. Which was a perfect stop! Had a Pina Colada and a Bloody Mary! Both drinks were pretty strong. Menu had variety of options to choose from. Music was good, and loved the open space seating. They also have roof top seating but I was exhausted to walk up stairs. We tried the appetizers of fried calamari and Mahi-Mahi Bites. Which were both fluffy and crispy! I had the fish and chips which I couldn't finish. Husband had the Cuban Panini but only finished half of the sandwich. And daughter had the Shrimp Alfredo, which had huge shrimps and it was a large bowl. Of course had to have a Brownie Sundae which perfectly hit the spot! We had a lot of left overs! Our server was so helpful and tentative. She also gave great tips to do around the island. Love the view of the ocean and service here! Definitely will return!

Hot wings and drinks!

Average quality food at a premium price. We ate some of the most memorable food in Puerto Rico two doors down at Bili's for less money.

As of April 2021, Culebra restaurants were still mostly shut down for indoor dining (some not open…read moreat all). Our group was pretty desperate for some lunch so we were relieved to see that Tiki's Grill was open, though for takeout only. They have a menu on the door with names of the dishes only. When asked about prices, the waitress only said that dishes were "mostly over $10" and that add ons were "a couple dollars." It was a bit annoying but we were hungry and willing to pay. It turned out that each dish was about $11 to $12 and add-ons like sweet plantains were about $1. We waited a really long time but I didn't mind too much since it seemed like each dish was being freshly made/fried. I personally got a fried fish taco bowl. The fried fish was pretty good. It seemed fresh and was covered in an avocado/guacamole sauce. The base ingredients were average (just some lettuce and tomato). Overall Tiki's Grill got the job done. Just be aware that things on Culebra work on island time, even more so than the main island. Also we didn't come to Culebra for the cuisine after all so I wasn't too bothered.

The waitress was incredibly rude to us, answering our questions about the price of the food (not on…read morethe menu) and what is in the food (also not on the menu). She refused to answer our question about how much the food costs. She also told us it would be ready in 20 minutes and when we went back in 20 she was like well it's fresh fish to be fried come back in a couple minutes, but it ended up being an hour long wait. The fish was also incredibly salty and the taco bowls only had lettuce and tomatoes in it. Would not recommend.

Great place by the water to grab lunch or dinner!…read more We came for lunch and tried the empanadas. The vegetarian one was our favorite, and had great flavors! The ginger limeade was also very tasty, and we grabbed a bottle of it on our way out to enjoy the rest of the day! They even gave use cups of ice and lids/straws for the road, very helpful. Nice and laid back place, you order at the counter and then they bring out the food. No rush, nice to sit and relax and enjoy the view!

So, I say all this to say - make sure to make a reservation if you'd like to avoid a long wait &/or disappointment with there not being a table available. We were extremely lucky to have gotten a table with a relatively short wait on a busy evening. Likely because it was within the last hour of the restaurant's opening!! Now - on to the best part... the FOOD! The creamy pumpkin soup with an arepa was really delicious!!! Full of flavour, prepared with passion and love and I would definitely go back for more! For our mains, my sister and I decided to both have the seasonal fresh caught fish with Puerto Rican yellow rice - YUMMMM! My only regret is that the fish was not big enough... I would have loved MORE! Overall this was a great dining experience.
