Day at the beach - deliciously refreshing
    Thy N.

Stopped in to grab dinner for my 7 yo daughter. They didn't have kids meal so we got a burger and fries for her. While waiting for her food, we got some drinks and an appetizer. The view was gorgeous. The drinks were delicious! The ceviche was fine. My daughter loved her burger and fries!! Would return here if we come back to the area!

Tempura fried shrimp was good but got soggy quickly. Mojito was freshly squeezed and a bit sour. Views were spectacular from the balcony seats. The mahi mahi was delicious. I would have liked it without the green sauce it came with. I switched out the ginger rice for red beans & rice ($6 upcharge) and added tostones (another $6 upcharge). The churrasco plate was very flavorful. The meat was tender and juicy which isn't always easy to do with a thin piece of meat. The rice it came with was also very well seasoned. Service was good. Happy hour crowd on a weekday was non-existent at this location. Had the place almost to ourselves. The hours are a bit unusual as they only open for dinner Mon-Wed. Overall, we're glad we tried it. Would try different things next time, tho.

Can't say a single thing bad about this place. First, our server Kari was top notch. She was a joy and elevated the mood on a stormy night, plus offered up great suggestions on drinks and the menu. Our food was impeccable, especially the lobster freshly caught by the owners family. Worth every cent it was for a fresh seafood meal. On a final note, if the bartender is Joseph when you visit, expect a cocktail that competes with high end bars than what you may find a big city like NY or Miami. Overall just a surprising fantastic meal!

The environment was pretty good! It's by the ocean and the view was primary! I got an lobster egg Benedict and it was very sour and the lobster doesn't goes well with the Benedict. I liked the pina colada. The service was bad though. They kept us waiting despite after called our name after a 50 mins waiting. No one seated us for almost 10 mins. The experience was so so.

I could sit on this balcony sipping coffee and looking at the ocean forever...

3/5 for solid, American breakfast food. 5/5 for views from the seating upstairs, very welcoming and accommodating service. Complementary breakfast with an overnight stay. Very refreshing AC. Free WiFi, though data service/WiFi was weirdly absent in the rooms (recovering from María?) despite very strong and consistent signal just 10 steps outside the room on the touristy road.

This joint saved me…read more It was the middle of the day. The sun had been beating down on me. We just rented our scooter (I had to run up the hill a couple of times to get my driver's license and was totally dehydrated & hot). It was lunch time, and we were told Tito Bloque is a good local restaurant to hit up. The town of Esperanza is tiny, so I thought the directions would not be hard to follow, but we managed to get lost. This eatery was literally within a neighborhood, and looked like it was in the porch of someone's house. Needless to say, it was hard to find, and required us to ask for more directions. By the time we were here, my lame butt was ready to pass out (dehydration is a son of gun when you're in a tropical locale!). But we made it. We grabbed a table. Looked at menus. And first things first, I had to hydrate: with a can of ice cold Medalla cerveza (Puerto Rican beer). Maybe not as good as water, but this brew certainly flipped my mood to the positive. For food, I saw lots of basic home-cooked options (seafood, chicken, steak, etc.). I went with the steamed chicken. It came with a very basic salad (meaning, mostly lettuce). But the chicken certainly filled the spot with its juicy tenderness. And when all is said and done, the two cans of Medalla also made all well. This place looked to be run by an elderly couple. The guy mainly lounged on a hammock hanging inside the open-air patio. The woman was in the kitchen behind the bar, and also came out to take orders and serve us. They both weren't very talkative to me (the gringo). But as I paid, I noticed some photos of snowy mountains and elk. I asked about them, and the lady said they are from family in Oregon---I told them I was from Washington, and she lit up. She was nice and sweet. While here, I saw some locals pull up in a jeep. The old guy hopped out of the hammock and chatted with the guy. He then went to the back and came back out with a bag of food. So yeah, if you want take-away, you are set here. All in all, if you want to bypass the humdrum/crowded restaurants on the malecon (waterfront), venture a couple of blocks inland and have a meal like a local.

On an island where many transplants from the states open up tourist restaurants to attract the lazy traveler, Tito's caters to the journeyman that wants the vibrant experience of the local life. He's also a Philly native so he knows about burgers and cheesesteaks! We were excited to try and it was a rainy day in vieques. We had no reservations, but hoped to get one. We came when the restaurant opened. Hostess was downright rude and condescending. We were told our group of 4 could sit at the bar at 6pm since they are "booked". When I informed her that online I was able to make a reservation for 4 at 5:30 or 5:45pm, she rolled her eyes and said you can try if you want. So I did and was able to get a seat at a table for 4 by 5:30pm. Waitress was also rude. Maybe everyone was having a bad day? They all just started though? But with some jokes and kind words, I think the waitress warmed up to us. Food was phenomenal, some of the best food we had in Puerto Rico hands down. Drinks were also top notch. Prices were high but expected for where we were. Would have given 5 stars all around if service was significantly better. Which by the way, when we finished dinner, restaurant was still half empty.
