We grabbed lunch on the balcony at Mango Taphouse and Gastropub! This gave us a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather, interesting views and experience a lovely fresh breeze. Overall everything that we had was good. The coconut shrimp was fresh, a decent sized portion and also tasty. The coconut rice bowl which I ordered was also good - the flavours from the various ingredients were good, but not as powerful as I would have hoped. Overall is was a healthy and light meal nonetheless- which was good as we were headed to the beach right afterwards. read more

However, you are on an island that is part of Puerto Rico and no one speaks Spanish, which was surprising. We decided to order a dessert since nothing on the menu really appealed to us. The total came to $12, but at the end we were told that the minimum for card payments was $20. I was not given the option to receive any change in cash. The server told me he could add two sodas to the bill or, unfortunately, charge the full $20 to the card. We actually went to Mango tap house twice during our stay in Vieques. It's not necessarily the place to find the best puerto rican food but they do have really good food, a solid drink selection, and its also just a nice place to meet friends or watch a ballgame. The first visit, we had a few of the local beers and I also had a frozen monkey lala. I was informed it was the strongest drink they have and it tasted dangerously good (didn't taste boozy). Of the local breweries, we liked Ocean Lab. To eat, we saw someeone else get the onion dip so we had to also. It was soooo good. The 2nd visit we went after a day of beaching and were happy to be able to use their rinse-off station out front (such a cool idea). To eat, I had a buffalo chicken sandwich and my fiance had the chicken tendies with mac and cheese. All were really good but I think the best entrees at our table were probably the salads but everything was really good. Overall, somewhere I'd go hang if I lived in Vieques and would be happy to visit again. They did have the cleanest bathroom of any of the places I ate in all of Puerto Rico. read more

We were eager to try this place, but the hostess told us they were hosting a private event. Still, she offered us the option to sit at the bar. We agreed and patiently waited for a bar seat to become available. While waiting, we approached an empty table, and suddenly the hostess whispered to another waitress, "I already told them NO." It's confusing why a guest would wait if you said no. Very bad, rude. I want to enjoy my meal where I'm treated with kindness and fairness. read more

Came to this spot specifically for the reviews on the coconut rice bowl. It is definitely the thing to get here! My boyfriend absolutely loved it, and while I thought the rice had a bit of an odd flavor I think it was just me. He got the chicken and egg and I got the mahi and avocado. Lovely outdoor / indoor seating and the service was fantastic, super friendly, and fast! And it was a one man show! Seems like a great place to watch sports with 5 pretty large televisions. Great valley view with a bit of an ocean view as well. If you need a healthy lunch (or fried haha there is plenty of variety) I would say this place is for sure worth a stop in! read more

This was the best run restaurant we visited while on Vieques. Great, friendly staff!! The food and drinks were great, too. We visited twice while there, and both times I had the coconut rice bowl. It was amazing and fresh both times, as was the mahi mahi and salmon I had with it. My husband had the fish sandwich one night and the mahi bites the next, and he enjoyed both. If you visit, do yourself a favor and order the churros with ice cream, they were to die for! read more

This place is amazing! We had an amazing dinner. The burgers are phenomenal and I love that they are cook to order so you can decide how done you want it to be. We also ordered nachos as an appetizer which are so good and a very large portion! The nachos are definitely big enough to be a full meal. I love that they have local beers on tap so we were able to try some beers from the island. Our server was amazing and personable. We sat on the covered patio which was decorated very cute. We had a great meal at Mango last night. First, our server was amazing. She was friendly and attentive. My husband had the coconut shrimp and liked it. Two of us had cheeseburgers- they were pretty typical pub burgers. Another had the Caesar salad with shrimp, also good. We even did the churros for dessert and they were very tasty. They've only been open a few weeks but this is a great place. I hope they find success on Vieques. read more

While on the island we found this nice little spot to eat. I must say the food is good and the staff is excellent, we had a server named Jon, great guy. The reason for my 1 star is the way they handle payment. We were a party of 6. When the bill came we asked if we could pay separately as we were 3 couples. The answer was no but we can separate them evenly. That is a company policy. What a stupid company policy. By doing it this way some may end up paying much more than they had anticipated as some had drinks and others didn't. Wake up management, owner who ever made this policy it's stupid. If we had come in as 3 separate couples we would have had 3 separate bills, it's that simple, the only difference is we sat at the same table. Well next time in the island guess we will be looking for a different restaurant. read more

Stopped in on the way home on a Saturday night for a drink and dessert. The service was great and the drinks were even better. Ordered the churros that came with chocolate and a berry dipping sauce. For drinks we had a cilantro habanero margarita and the funky monkey. Definitely a must try when visiting the beautiful island of Vieques. read more

Everything we ordered was outstanding. Margaritas were well made. Chips and onion dip very tasty. My BLT was amazing- juicy yet crispy bacon on fresh roll. My wife loved the fish and chips. Churros for dessert were decadent. The servers were attentive and very friendly. They even gave my wife creamer for her next morning's coffee as the stores were closed. We had a great time at Mango Public House. The staff was very welcoming and the restaurant was very clean. Lots of good options on the menu. I got the Caesar salad and coconut shrimp. I was just here with my family of four. The décor is great, nice open air eating. Menu is limited and the food is overpriced for what you get. We ordered the nacho appetizer for $17, nothing special, same thing could be made for $3 at home. Also ordered, Rueben sandwich, Cuban, Fish and Chips. $120 for three plates, one appetizer, and two beers. On vacation so no big deal, just not satisfied with the price payed. Great place/view, great service, great IPAs!! Our waiter was great Rafael, gave us good advice on where to go in Vieques!

Where to begin? Well, the bartender was a polite, hard-working young man. We were greeted by an owner who rudely refused to seat us despite several empty tables due to what she said were dozens of reservations. We then witnessed her get in an argument with an older man and his party of 4 who then angrily walked out despite the pleading of what appeared to be the owner's husband. The allure of a Packer playoff game was too great for us to leave, so at this point a few seats open up at the bar and my 2 sons and my obviously pregnant daughter in law and my grandson sought refuge at the bar. We quickly ordered food from the aforementioned bartender and watched the Green Bay Packers destroy the Dallas Cowboys to the delight of all. Despite the restaurant being half empty and the dozens of reservations never materializing, we noticed that the waitstaff was visibly overwhelmed as we waited and waited and waited for our food. After an hour the food finally arrived.. The food was underwhelming. Mahi Mahi nuggets without discernible flavor, a soggy reuben and Truffle fries spiced without distinction. There was also some other fried thing on which the breading wasn't fully fried and although I ate a piece or two I couldn't tell you precisely what I was eating. The bill was for 3 entrees 2 cokes and 5 beers(around 5 dollars a piece) was 160 dollars. Which was absurd given what we ordered. So go go to the Mango Taphouse for the game, the beerst, the bartender and the high probability that the female owner will have a run in with a customer due to her utter ignorance of basic decorum. read more
