The couple I stayed with while I was visiting Vieques recommended this local spot, and we ended up dining here for dinner. The interior was simple and cute, with a welcoming ambiance. We had some finger food for appetizers: Croquettes and Mozzarella Sticks. Both were quite tasty. Croquettes were satisfyingly crispy stuffed with yummy filling, served with an irresistible sweet and savory sauce. The Mozzarella Sticks had a flavorful crunchy exterior and amazing cheese pull. I ordered the Fried Pork Chop with a side of Yuca Mash with bacon and peppers. The plating was beautiful. This Fried Pork Chop was HUMONGOUS and impressive looking. The meat was tender, oh so juicy, succulent, and well seasoned. It was absolutely delicious! The Yuca Mash didn't have enough pronounced pieces of bacon and peppers throughout, so I wasn't the biggest fan. I was able to sample the Rice and Peas, which was cooked perfectly, fluffy, and wonderful. What a hearty meal! Service was excellent. Wow this little restaurant blew us away! We were not expecting for every dish to be so flavorful! We ordered bacalaitos, shrimp croquetas, and chicken empanadas for our appetizers and everythinggggg was so yummy! We also ordered coconut mojitos which were also delish! Our main was the pechuga a la plancha with mamposteao de gandules. We took the rest of this as leftovers and I think it was even more delicious after being warmed up in the microwave lol. One of the best meals on vacation in Puerto Rico! Cute little restaurant in down town vieques! Upon entering a local chatted with me letting me know this is one of the only restaurants she will eat at on the island as it's authentic. She recommended I try a garlic sauce on my trifongo which was delicious! I also tried the coconut bits yum! The queso frito which was insanely yummy it was gooey cheese with a sweet jam under it a perfect pairing! The pricing was very affordable in comparison to other restaurants around and there was a limited number of free parking spots in front of the restaurant. Great service too! I am emotionallll. As a Puerto Rican who has not been here since I was four years old, this was my first full meal here in Vieques and I was over the moon. The chicken and steak tostones dipped in the sauce it comes with were a great start, as well as the Yuca and Cheese balls, but what really just hit me in the soul was the arroz mampostedo. We arrived around 7:30 and by 8:30 they were encouraging people to not stay and order dinner because it would take too long to get food. We saw them purposely deter 2 different groups for no reason other than it was already 8:30 and food would take a while. Service was quick, friendly, and helpful. Rum punch was good if not overly strong. Their take on fried cheese was a great app to pair with the drinks, as was the chicken empanada. Main course was breaded shrimp with tostones which was also good, although the tostones could have used salt and there was none to be found. Overall a nice visit for dinner. This restaurant came highly recommended to me by two locals so I came here for dinner on my first night in Vieques. It is a rather small restaurant inside with a slightly larger partially covered outdoor patio in front. When I arrived they were very strict about checking my covid vaccination card. About two parking spots are available in front of the restaurant. Other than that it's street parking wherever you can find it. For some reason that night I decided to order a whole fish for dinner which is something I never do. I guess the island vibe was getting to me so I went with the Pescado Frito with a side dish of rice and beans for $28. The meal took about 25 minutes to arrive. I liked it but didn't love it. To be fair, this isn't my favorite way to consume fish and I debated as to whether to even write a review of my meal for that reason. I would have preferred to order a different entree but time didn't allow me to return to this restaurant. So I give a 3 for my meal but wouldn't be surprised if this is really a 4 eatery. read more

Originally, my family and I wanted to go to Bieke's Bistro next door, but they were out of most of their seafood, so we decided to go here. The staff weren't the friendliest and not very attentive either. However, the food arrived in a decent manner of time. Overall, I would recommend Bieke's Bistro over this place because the staff are nicer and the menu has the same dishes with more variety and higher quality. The Fried Cheese Balls with Guava Sauce was the best thing of our meal, it was so good! The balls were super crispy on the outside and ooey gooey on the inside. We came in a for a late lunch at around 5:30pm and called in a reservation for an indoor spot. There is only one indoor table and several seats by the bar and along the window. This was our favorite meal on Vieques! I ordered a chicken empanada as an appetizer and the inside was very seasoned and outer part was buttery and soft. I also ordered the fried pork. Came to Vieques and wanted to eat some good Puerto Rican food and went to the city of Esperanza in Vieques to try and find. Unfortunately, my wife and I were extremely disappointed as everywhere we ate was Americanized food with too much sugar. I asked one of the waiter from the restaurant El Quenepo and he advice us to try Casa Nativo. We just came from there and what an excellent experience my wife and I had! The food was truly authentic and amazing. It brought such great memories of my childhood in Puerto Rico and my moms cooking. Overall, the best meal I've had in Vieques. WORSE MANAGER AND CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE IN VIEQUES!! DO NOT EAT HERE!! We were visiting the Vieques island for the first time ever and we had experience a great experience so far. We were supposed to go to the Bieke's bistro but when we walked in they said it was closing even though the site said 9pm. Anyhow, we decided to go next door to Casa Nativo even though we had Mama Mia as an option, which now we know we should have. The service was okay to not be rude to the waitress as she was slightly helpful with her food/ drink recommendations. We ordered the strawberry mojito (which we have tried in the past, and know how it's supposed to taste) and a rum punch along with a shrimp skewer and Picanha as main dish. As we were there waiting, we saw a guy (who we know now he was the manager) walking to the table in front of us delivering food and saying to them, "we forgot your drinks but we working on them" that should have been a sign for us to run. Anyhow, we stayed waiting for our food when we received the shrimp skewers arrived before the drinks, that was unusual for us but we decided to give it a try. We tasted it and you could tell it wasn't cooked all the way but we kept trying to be open minded. When the drinks arrived we tasted them and my rum punch tasted like rum and grapefruit, the mojito taste more like water, alcohol and juice. The waitress took a bit to come back to check on us and we left the mojito to the side to asked if we could switch it. When she arrived she said they don't exchanged drinks, that all they could do is make it better, so we asked try to make it better but adding more juice and alcohol. We also asked how much longer for the Picanha as we had been waiting 30 - 40 minutes and we wouldn't mind cancelling the order. As she responded, "dishes are made fresh on the spot here that's why they take a bit" so we decided to stay put hoping it wouldn't be more than 15 more minutes. The whole situation was okay until it wasn't and we saw the manager come out, drop off the "fixed" drink on our table and repeated what we had told the waitress about canceling the order if it was delaying even more. He dropped off the drink upset and said, "I was told you were thinking on canceling the food, don't worry I already did it for you" We were shocked on what was happening, why would you bring a "fix" drink if you cancelled our order?! Anyhow, he as he started to walk away he said, "those are on the house you don't have to pay for anything in a rude voice. We just looked at each other and didn't even tried the fixed drink and decided to leave. As we were leaving we started to question out loud, "why would you fix the drink and serve it to us? You canceling the order meant it wasn't even done or far from done? What kind of customer service as an owner you provide to us tourist that make business or you and your employees! As we were walking away he heard us talking and yelled, "I asked you to leave my business unless you want me to call the police!" Meanwhile, we were already standing outside of his restaurant. This overall had provided the worse experience at Vieques and for people like him is that many tourists will decide to not even try his food. I ask for everyone to share this post because this manager only shows you that he doesn't care about his business enough to treat customers or tourists with respect. DO NOT EAT HERE. The grouper came out raw. The hamburger was well done when I asked for it to come medium with no bacon or plantains in Spanish it still came with with everything on it. The hamburger itself had no flavor. When we told the manager what happened and that we didn't want to pay for the raw fish because we had to leave for the airport he thought we were saying we weren't going to pay for the whole bill and called the cops on us. Out of all the restaurants on this beautiful island this is the most disgusting, terrible management attitude, & beyond slow service. They don't even admit their mistakes. We are big eaters, travelers, and great tippers. I hope this place goes out of business. Even our local taxi driver said he got food there once and it was so horrible he he threw it out. We thought they would be closed, but they offered their full menu with such grace and kindness that it was almost like everything was normal. Lovely cocktails-we tried the mojito and a margarita. Also had the fried salt cod patties which were such a perfect bar snack. The grilled fish in garlic sauce was fresh, light, perfectly cooked, and only $12. The shrimp tostones app was sooo good (I attached a photo. Little crisp cups filled with chopped shrimp). Octopus salad (kind of odd name for warm stew) but wow. Best octopus I ever had! We had a whole fried fish and a massive fried pork chop (somehow attached to a good bit of pork belly.) I have never seen or eaten anything like it. Served with marvelous sides (rice and beans and mashed potatoes but just saying that does not do them justice. I should do an entire review on the mashed potato thing Majado maybe?). While I should be commenting on the food, I am too distracted by the terrible customer service. Grant it, there was only 1 server during lunch hours, but I would've been more forgiving, had they given me periodic updates on my order and apologized for the delay. No empathy for the customers. My dish consisted of 5 shrimp in garlic and oil... my husband had conch.... both underwhelming ... Oh and there were only 4 tables of customers... not including my husband and I.
