Who's your daddy? On a hot day in downtown Miami there could be only one answer to that. Banana Daddy. This wonderful alternative to ice cream provides flavor without dairy to create a more healthy and delicious treat that will cool you off on even hottest Miami summertime day. In a spectacularly dog, friendly neighborhood, it is exciting to find a restaurant that has a treat specifically intended for man's best friend. Other local establishments should follow suit and have some choices that are edible and friendly for the dogs that are plentiful in this part of town. But the feature attraction here is the banana base dessert. Made popular at home by a company making a home machine, Banana Daddy takes this frozen treat to a whole new level. The flavors are amazing and although I have not tried them all, I believe that every one of them would make a memorable treat. Simply awesome. But it doesn't end there. Wonderful snacks like banana bread, s'mores, and other baked goods make this place the ultimate dessert destination. I guess my only criticism is that the banana based Matcha latte was really a big cup of ice with not a whole lot of drink. I ordered a large and it was really only three or four sips and not big sips at that. That is why I do not buy them at that big chain coffee shop. These are without a doubt, the best tasting Macha lattes ever but nine dollars for a few sips it's not going to keep it on my shortlist. So I may not order this again. It does not hurt my enthusiasm for this shop. The themed shop is amazingly cute. The recipes are clearly well thought out and tested, and the staff is amazingly gracious. This is truly a keeper and one of my favorite places, even though I have only been here once. As most Miami places come and go, it's quite sad to see businesses not last longer than a year. This is a new dessert spot in Midtown and they have such a great marketing campaign but their sweet treat fell short. I love anything banana flavor and I understand the concept of a healthier alternative to ice cream. The way their drinks and sundaes did not give what they were hoping for. It lacked flavor and they use toppings to hopefully make up for it. If the base isn't strong then everything else doesn't matter. We ordered the banana latte and banana matcha. Both needed help. The flavor was extremely subtle. I had to ask for more banana syrup. Coffee tasted burnt and not the dark roast kind of good. Decided to checkout Banana Daddy during their Alma matcha collab. The decor of Banana Daddy was really really nice. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and service! Where I felt Banana Daddy was lacking was the matcha itself. The matcha was fairly grainy and bitter (you can see it the most in the drink on the left). I had the coconut ube and my partner had the banana cloud. The ube coconut syrup flavor was good but the banana one didn't have much flavor. I hope this is due to the larger than normal crowd at the pop-up. The banana cake however was AMAZING. I did feel it was a bit expensive for its size but flavor wise it was delicious. It's been a while, I've been busy with work and school. Sorry Yelp, but I'm finally back with another review! I was walking around Midtown when a new sign and music coming from the store's direction caught my attention. As we near, LO AND BEHOLD, it's Banana Daddy. It reminded me of the Museum of Ice Cream, aesthetic and vibe wise. Excitedly, we went inside and learned that the store has only been open for about a month. So, it was new to town! We love anything banana, so we were super eager to try. We had some samples and ummm...surprisingly enough, we were not impressed, but that was just the "base". So, maybe when dressed up, it'll be better. I was a bit disappointed, the texture wasn't what I was hoping for, the flavor was very subtle and barely had any banana taste to it, for both the coffee, matcha, and the sundae. I was really hoping to like it, but I can't say I did. Maybe, I'll give it another go another day, but it's definitely not something I'll be craving. You're making me bananas! The best non dairy soft serve!!! The chocolate is so chocolaty and in the big banana flavor the banana isn't too overpowering. The s'mores Sunday was incredible. So yummy and hard to believe it's all dairy free! As someone who is severe lactose intolerant this place is a game changer.
