I love that Bambu has steadily been increasing their number of locations over the years! They've got a drink selection that is unique only to their franchise, which I can truly appreciate. Bambu serves up Vietnamese desserts similar to Filipino "halo halo" - sweet beans, jelly, fruit, served up with a scoop of ice cream and a splash of milk. Apart from desserts, they've also got coffee, tea, boba, and fruit infused teas, which is their newest creation from what I've seen! This time around, I got a taro smoothie with no boba. My friend ordered a tea infused with strawberries and basil seeds. Both drinks were very good and prepared under 3 minutes.. perfect for such a hot day out in SJ. I'll add a star if they can expand their location, make it bigger, and provide softer music if people decide they'd like to be able to study/work there! read more

How can you NOT love this place? Anyone with a sweet tooth would be in heaven here! I love Vietnamese desserts and smoothies and I can't go wrong here. Granted, I've been sticking with my usual order, the Bo Dam (#5, I believe - which is an avocado concoction with condensed milk, jellies and tapioca), but I'm sure the other desserts are just as delicious! A lot of my friends and family really love BAMBU. I don't really get the hype. The place is relatively small but cleanly and the service is fast. There's not too much to complain about at all, they offer a wide assortment of dessert drinks and milk teas which is nice but I just don't find any of them particularly special or their taste particularly rewarding. I'll probably be returning anyways since my family members love it so much, but I just think there's better places for che out there. Can't deny the ease and ok-ness of this place though. read more

I love ALL Bambu locations. I love how Bambu is starting to expand! I love how Bambu makes me get in touch with my inner Vietnamese (even though I am Vietnamese I feel like I am not as into my culture as I should be). The Vietnamese desserts here are SOOOO delicious. There are so many options to choose from their creations but I always get the one that has coconut, jack fruit, and lychee. It is so sweet, refreshing, and tropical! The desserts here are just so good and their boba is too! Fresh milk and fresh boba balls. Funny because ever since Bambu opened, Vietnamese dessert spots have been popping up all over SJ here and there. read more

Very quick place. I always get the che trái cây (fruit) and am never disappointed. It's small and always looks a bit crowded but they get your drinks made QUICK. $3.75 for a tasty dessert drink. Not bad! I wouldn't really hang out around here though but to each their own. read more

I do like that they used fresh passion fruit to make their special drink (forgot what it was called), and even though the passion fruit was kinda sour, it added freshness to an otherwise syrupy dessert. On the other hand, the pandan jelly was not as chewy as the other Bambus I've been to, which was a bit confusing. Honestly, I probably would opt for another Bambu based on their soft pandan jelly alone, but maybe it's just inconsistent there. read more

My all time favorite place for Che (Vietnamese iced dessert) My favorite combo is pandan jelly and red bean. I've never seen a place like this exist with so many che options. Their Vietnamese iced coffee is great as well. Place is crowded on a sunny afternoon. Drinks don't take too long to make and there's free wifi. My GF and I came here to buy a drink and we order number 15, we just want coconut and lotus seeds is cost $5.00 and the receipt came out with $5.25 +$0.50 customize but even if customized coconut juice only $4.75. A little penny or a dollar bill is still money. So careful and the service is so bad, I don't like the way the girl with glasses talk to customers. read more

This was an unexpected treat. We stopped in for a coffee and ended up getting a few dessert drinks. The apple smoothie with Boba was to die for! We also got another drink, with everything in it, and that too was super good. I love trying new things and these tasty treats we're right up my alley. The downside is that the location is quite small and has limited seating. We were lucky and snagged the couch facing the TV, (which had music videos on- awkward and inappropriate with all the little kids around). Just after we got our drinks, dozens of people started streaming through the doors. There were people everywhere looking for places to sit, sitting on each others laps, and standing around. I love bambu, but this location was horrible. First impression, the store was filthy; empty cups & napkins everywhere. Every worker was in the back talking & the cashier repeatedly looked at me for a minute & when I thought she was finally going to greet me, she sat down to continue her story!! Like, hello??? Whatever you were chatting about could wait lol. I asked for a large & she even repeated my order. Not to mention, she wouldn't let me finish my order. She kept interrupting me after every two words I said. When I got a small drink, I asked about it & the barista said the receipt didn't say so & wanted to charge me $1. Pearls were hard & the tea was overly sweet, not like the other locations I've been to. Service was just really bad & I hope the manager/owner talks to their staff about it. read more

I think I'm hooked on this stuff. Decided to try since people talked about it. I'm so lucky that this one is near my house. It's pretty small with 2 tables outside. The consistenty of the drink is good. I order the one with jackfruit and lychee along with padan jelly, coconut milk, red tapioca in it. I forgot the number. My friend ordered the avocado one with mixed jelly. Although it doesn't look good, it's actually pretty good. I was surprised myself. I was sad today because they don't open Mondays and today was a super hot day. I think this is my to do place for che. read more

This place is top for Vietnamese desserts...which I am in love with! There are so many combinations. Mung bean, red bean, taro, pandan jelly, grass jelly, longan, is your exotic palette watering yet? If you can't decide go with Special #1...young coconut, basil seeds, pandan jelly, and longan, yum yummmm. I haven't tried the smoothies or milk teas but the avocado smoothie looked quite promising. Soooo good, and a perfect alternative to boba. It'll satisfy your sweet tooth for sure. Oh, and you can't go wrong with the Vietnamese music concerts playing on the TV. Nothing wrong with this place, but nothing spectacular either. I've been here 3 times already and am having a really hard time giving it 4 stars. The drinks are really sweet, but I don't think there's any way to make it less sweet. Each ingredient is sweet on it's own so when you mix it all together it becomes super sweet and sticky. It's kind of hard to eat, if you use the straw you can't get to a lot of the jellys on the bottom, but if you open the lid to use the spoon you risk the liquid overflowing and getting all over the place. The service is also terrible. They can get super busy at/around meal times, so they definitely don't have time to smile or say thank you. Don't bother asking questions, they'll basically roll their eyes at you. read more

Come here if you're craving a drink or che. Their che is pretty good compared to other places since they're not too sweet and it hits the spot when you're craving it. Some of my favorite things to get here is the mung bean smoothie, Bambu special, and #10. They have a lot of options here, so you're not limited to what to get. Don't go right before they close because they might run out of certain things. Another thing I like about this place is that you can customize your che, you can ask them to make you che with whatever you're craving, just remember to be specific or else they will put more of one thing than the other! read more

Most of these drinks are probably available at Vietnamese restaurants, but I never order them because I never know what they contain. Super clean feel. Shaved ice on top was an interesting touch. It's really nice that Bambu is able to popularize vietnamese dessert, che, to the greater public. I'm all for it! I always get the #6 which has a bunch of fruit in it but I like #4 occasionally as well. I never have to wait too long to order or receive my dessert. Super fast. If you do have to wait, they have two sofas for you to sit and enjoy vietnamese or american music videos. It's fairly small so unless the two sofas are free I'll get it TOGO. Location is in Asian plaza next to grand century mall. Easy to find parking. Go Here! If you've never tried che it's definitely worth a try! If you ever come here try number 22 but instead of the white jello switch it for the long green jello. My fav drink. Besides that I'm not a fan of other drinks here. It's too sweet for me or have things that I don't like in them. However the trick is you can customize your drink to have only what you want in it and the price will be the same. I'd suggest getting any drink with fresh coconut water then add what you want in it. read more

Really good vietnamese deserts! The best one is definitely number 1 - the other ones don't compare. I think they MOSTLY use fresh fruits - I don't know about the lychees because all the times I've ordered the number one, the lychees were brown. I think they use the ones from the cans. Came here for a "milk tea" run and ended up getting their Che dessert. It was pretty good. In their dessert they used fresh fruit which was cool. I could have used a little more sugar though. I ordered the avocado dessert with the mixed jelly and pearls. 3/4 of this thing was just fresh avocado. Overall cool place. Good service and they play pretty good music. read more

Located on the corner of Story and McLaughlin, right by Maxim market. This spot is well known for theri che (bean desserts w/ coconut milk and jelly), but has also been visited for their boba tea. It's a fairly small shop, not ideal for sitting, chatting. Limited seating and really loud TV/music on in the background. Today, I had a black milk tea, it came quickly, tasted good, and was fairly priced. The milk tea was half/half heavy, with some tea flavor. I had grass jelly to pair with it, so I unfortunately cannot comment on the boba. But in the past, they have been soft and chewy. In the past I would try their bean desserts which are good. My overall experience isn't breathtaking to say the least. I have definitely had better boba (i.e., Oh My Pan! in SGV or even a OZERO.) However, for bay area, there might be only one place I'd check out for taste difference. This is a solid boba place if you are in the area. Just do not plan to sit inside. 4/5. 1 point loss for it not being the best tasting ever and for no ability to sit and have a convo. read more
