The manager called police on me, my 12-year-old son and 10-year-old son for her staff's mistakes. Her staff ordered the wrong 5 drinks of #10, when we have always ordered #1 for years. We have never tried #10 ever in our life. We also have been ordering 8 times for the past one month (per our text reciept). She refused to refund and accused us liars because she claimed her staff has confirmed the order at the time of ordering in person. Over the years, the size of the drink has reduced, especially compared to the regular size on the west coast. This store has never allowed any redemption of rewards. However, we let these things go because we cherished the unique Vietnamese drink in Boston. In the vedio, other customers were ok with us reaching resolution for the dispute (voices in the background). The police showed up and decided to mark this as a wrong report. I expressed my wish to report this business since police officer is here. Then the police officer asked us to discuss this outside. We did. All of the above should be enough evidence to support how you trust what you put in your mouth. Who knows what kind of other things they were doing at the place you cannot see. read more

They have all the typical smoothies, Berry is great, Honeydew is good, and excellent Vietnamese dessert drinks. It's a five-star location of Bambu and don't be surprised if you have to wait in line because it's pretty popular even though it's out of the way. Bambu is definitely yuummier than the next door boba tea place, Sweet Sip. The boba has better and more authentic taste here. The variety is expansive. This location has indoor seatingg with nice ambiance music. Good for families, kids, couples, students, etc. They have free WiFi too. Our boba teas were about $5 a piece. Same price as next door but better quality. We ordered the T4 with original boba. To give some context, we went to the spot next door but it was unsatisfying so we came to Bambu. I got the mango twist which comes with a big chunk of mango on top. The taste of the drink is very similar to their mangonada which is a mango slush with some spices and tamarind candy. Today is a perfect day to get che *unique Vietnamese drink*, so my friends and I decided to come here to enjoy it. The employees and the atmosphere in the shop are excellent. Unfortunately, today the shop encountered a customer who I think she doesn't have a good day. This customer uttered offensive words and insulted the staff, making one of them cry, even though that employee tried to explain that her son had ordered the wrong drink. I wonder, as a normal person, is it necessary to verbally abuse others over a few mistakes drink orders? Honestly I was hoping for this Bambu to be just as good as the one in Randolph because it is closer, but I become disappointed again and again after each visit. During my most recent visit, we were hit with a very weird smell (not at all like a bakery or bubble tea place smell) - it smelled like some type of incense. The person at the register simply sounded b*tchy and rude as she was taking our order. One drink that we had ordered was a "green Thai tea" because another location had it, but she just ordered us a regular Thai tea instead of asking us to clarify our order. When our order was brought out, we asked her about it and she simply said "oh, we don't have that" in the most uncaring and unsympathetic tone, rather than asking us how she can help us. We also ordered a pandan waffle, sea foam coffee, and a combo yogurt drink along with the purchase of a Japanese bread. The sea foam coffee was okay, but it was really hard to drink the sea foam part of the drink without an actual lid since all the foam was on top and the straw/plastic covering made it difficult to even taste it. The pandan waffle seemed like it needed a lot of sugar or some sort of sweetness, it was extremely bland that we didn't even want to finish it. The only thing that was good out of everything we ordered was the yogurt and the Japanese bread which I was pretty happy about. Another reason why I mentioned that she person taking our order was rude is because of the way she told us that our card was declined (because we gave her the wrong card). She could have simply asked us if we had another form of payment because they card did not go through, but instead she used a rude, judgmental tone like "oh, your card declined soo". We waited between 20-25 for those four items. It seemed like they were making the food/drinks order by order, because they were bringing out one order every five minutes. It definitely should not take that long to make those drinks, and even if we did order a waffle, it does not take over 20 minutes to make a waffle since we've ordered it at other Bambu locations before. I have come to Bambu in Dorchester so many times for Bubble tea and I have never been disappointed. As I also tried many places selling bubble tea, to be honest, I think they have the best bubble tea in Boston. The taste of tea is very authentic and fresh, tea favors feel real, not like powder-based stuff (especially Taro tea, you should try). I regret not going to my usual spot (Coco Leaf) in Dorchester for Vietnamese desserts. After our Sunday brunch, so we needed something to sweet for ourselves, so my friends and I drove 30 min. from the North Shore area afterwards. My girlfriend ordered a mango tea with boba, and another friend of ours ordered as listed on the menu Coconut waffle. We got our orders, my girlfriend didn't get her boba in her mango tea drink, and our friend got a pandan waffle. So my friend went to the cashier, to see if they can make the coconut waffle for her. She returns with another pandan waffle. I went up to the cashier to myself to see what was going on, so I told the cashier that this was not the coconut waffle that she ordered, and they told me that the coconut waffle is the pandan waffle with coconut shavings on top. So I told them, that's very poor advertisement on the menu board as it only lists as "Coconut waffle", not "Coconut shaving waffle". I just simply asked for a refund on the waffle, simply because our friend didn't get what was advertised. They said they would have to speak to the manager. The manager came out, and I told the manager the same thing I told the cashier. So she refused to refund us for the waffle. I asked her, "So, just to make sure, you're saying your are not going to refund us for something my friend didn't order?" Now this is where I'm baffled at her response of, "I already made two waffles for you." My thinking was that the manager wouldn't have to have made the other waffle had the cashier told my friend in the first place that the coconut waffle was the pandan waffle with coconut shavings in the first place. I've worked in the retail and restaurant industry for a long time (Spoilers: I still work in the restaurant industry), so I'd be the first ones to fault ourselves and to try to be very understanding and make sure I'd never miss the fine print, because I can see that people do overlook it some times. In this case, the manager and perhaps owner, missed the mark on advertising things properly, they messed up one of our drinks, and lastly the interactions with the customers when it comes to accommodations, because what we asked for was NOT a big request. We were first time customers, no way can customers know that a coconut waffle would be a pandan waffle with coconut shavings on it, there is no other description on what the coconut waffle entails. If we wanted coconut shavings on our pandan waffle, why not just list it as a topping? The manager was really going to die over $5 instead of honestly trying to correct their mistake. We simply didn't care for the $5 enough, I just simply told her, "Forget it. Don't worry about it. I'll just leave the waffle here." She had a dumbfounded look on her face as if we left money on the table. So she attempts to fix the situation by offering a drink. At that point, it's no point of return for us, so I simply told her no, as I was afraid she'd mess up that up to. I hope this doesn't reflect on other Bambu businesses as I know this is a franchise. Perhaps I'll have better luck at the one in Randolph if I ever go to another Bambu in Boston area. read more

Rough start. I visited Bambu during their first week opening. Service was curt and slow. Cashier left me standing at the register for an extended period of time (3 min or so) while she texted and browsed on her phone. I ordered a honeydew smoothie with boba and aloe. It was ok, tasted like an artificial powder mix. It was not worth the wait; it was about 15 min even though there were only 3 other people there. They ran out of avocado the first two visits so no avocado smoothie or smashed avocado che. Disappointing. Third time must be the charm. I finally was able to try their smashed avocado che! It's delicious. Good balance of sweetness from the jellies with the creaminess of the avocado. They drizzle condensed milk over the ice. Note that the avocado jelly mix only fills 3/4 of the cup. Expensive for $6+ but tasty. Bambu has a rewards program, you provide your phone number. The first reward that I got was for a free upgrade which expired in 7 days and I didn't get to use since I was traveling. I think they should at least give you a couple weeks to redeem. read more
