    Pandan Waffle
    Zanita W.

Since this is my first review of 2023 and also my 100th, I decided to review a place that serves something very near and dear to my heart: Bubble Tea! Food: I tried two things; Cookie butter bubble tea and the pandan waffle. I love anything cookie butter so this bubble tea hit the spot exactly how I needed it to! It's probably the best thing that tastes exactly like the actual butter/biscoff cookies in a different form. I love it so much I'm planning on using it as a reward as I accomplish my 2023 goals! It is extremely sweet, so I suggest telling the cashier to make it less sweet. The pandan waffle was also delicious, it is a regular waffle but they use food coloring to make it look wacky. It is sweeter like cake but still crispy on the outside. They have a large variety of tea and toppings options so I'm sure you'll be able to find what wets your whistle. Service: Service was great. Since it was my first time at this cafe, the cashier was very forthcoming with information. She was the one to suggest that I make my bubble tea less sweet. Ambiance: The cafe is pretty small on the inside. It has some seating but isn't a place to hang out and have a drink, so just grab what you need and leave. It is cutesy like most places that serve these types of drinks. The menu can be overwhelming since there are many options but as previously mentioned, customer service was great at info with the drinks. Overall great place and I can't wait to visit again. Happy sipping!

I ordered dinner from the place next door and decided to place a carryout order through Bambu, too. It was fairly easy to do and stopping in to pick up was a breeze. The space itself is super cute, although a little small. But perfect for carryout. I got the brown sugar milk tea at 50% sweet with regular boba and I ordered the coconut for my husband. We both really liked them, although next time I'll I didn't notice a larger size when I ordered online so IDK if that's an option when ordering in but I'd definitely get the bigger size next time if it's an option. It goes so fast!

In love with BAMBU and the ladies working at this one are friendly and fabulous! I will attach progressive pics to assist but here's my recommendation: 1. Order BAMBU FAVORITE (#10, I think?) 2. Take a wide straw and a spoon and immediately mix it up 3. Do not drink it all right away... keep mixing and ice snow will break down and keep the cold creaminess going for an hour This is my favorite drink. Do not get swayed by seasonal specialties or try to build your own because their concoctions are better than what you can think up, lol Also, ask for minimal sweetness , either 25 or 50%, of whatever you order so you can taste everything and not just sugar

Cute little shop with great boba! I got a jasmine milk tea and really enjoyed it! Super tasty and the 25% sweetness level is just right! I've also had the almond milk tea and it's also very tasty. Service was very friendly and fast and they were great about social distancing

I always love a good bubble tea spot and glad that i found bambu in canton. I love that they have their own specific in house specials that the staff creates monthly. Super friendly staff and great drinks. I really enjoyed trying some of these unique flavors. My favorites were the Kashmiri milk tea and the cookie butter (lotus) milk tea. Pictured: -Taro milk tea -Brown sugar milk tea - Cookie butter milk tea -Falooda (layers of mixed jellies, hint of rose, basil seeds, and pistachios) -APRIL & MAY SPECIAL - Kashmiri milk tea (hint of rose)

Having been to a different BAMBU location before, I knew what to expect. It delivered what I was expecting. The almond bubble tea was solid. Not too sweet and the tapioca was perfectly chewy. We also got the fruit addict which was slightly less popular. The coconut was tasteless, and for the first timer, it seemed like a lot of work if that wasn't what you were craving. So if you want bubble tea, stick with the specifically bubble tea menu. The space itself is a tad small and cramped, but it's clean. Once the novelty of a new BAMBU location wears off, I'm sure the line will mellow out. Solid Vietnamese dessert place if you know what you want, but it could take some trial and error if you don't yet know.

One of the best boba tea place in Detroit area. It has more Vietnamese and Thai drink than kung fu which is across the street and they have a vegan waffle which is suppose to be good. I just heard it from other customers.

The new Raspberry juice... amazing yesterday, but undrinkable today... which one was wrong?

I frequent this location ALOT. Enough to where I've had several of the drinks many times over. Usually the way I go is I'll order the drink I feel like having that day, and also one drink I haven't tried yet. I'm definitely happy they've added some new drinks to the menu, but pretty unhappy with the inconsistency of their drinks. Some days it tastes one way, other days it tastes another. Guess it just depends on who's working that day. For example a new drink I had was under the juice section and it was simply called 'Raspberry'. Raspberry juice? Okay sounds simple enough. I tried it and fell in love. Perfect mix of sweet and tart, mad we very refreshing. I ordered it again the very next day, i couldn't even drink it. Literally tastes like poison. Less refreshing and had a very strong bitter aspect to it. The interesting question is, which one was made correctly? Since I only had it twice, it could be either. But the awfulness of the second version doesn't make me wanna try a for a third. All I know is, there's lots of bubble tea places popping up and they're all fighting for our business. If Bambu can't put out a consistent product, they might get left in the dust.

Guava tea with chia seeds and tapioca

Gosh, Canton really won the lottery when it comes to having good bubble tea places! I've had bubble tea cravings during my pregnancy and I stopped by here on my way home from getting groceries to check it out. This is a relatively small store with quick service, perfect for grab and go. They have very unique flavors that cater to a very diverse Canton population, such as falooda and Kashmiri chai. I ended up going with a guava tea that also had chia seeds in it. It was refreshing and hit the spot on a hot day. Can't wait to try more of their unique flavors!

Missing pandan jelly, one of the main ingredients for many Che drinks including my order.

Not all Bambus are equal. Head to Madison Heights Bambu location if you want to experience the Che made right. This location does NOT make Che correctly based on multiple visits I've made as of early August. Thai tea with bubble was done correctly and tasted good. Red tapioca used in Summer Delight was not done correctly, with center not cooked thru. I've made more than 5 trips to this Bambu location, and 3 out of 5 visits, they did not make my Che correctly. Missing an item, not putting enough items like beans, making the Che tasting like a watered down drink. At most recent trip the pandan jelly was missing. I couldn't believe it! It's THE key ingredients in Che. It's like getting a pizza without Cheese. I was so disappointed when I discovered it when I got home. I wasn't going to drive 25 min to get another one made, so I've called to complain. I was told to post a review so they can learn from this. Interesting response and customer service, I thought. Nothing was offered to make the situation right. So here I am. Writing a review as suggested. I've drove out there to satisfy my cravings which wasn't fulfilled. I went there to get happy and it didn't work out. I should have just gone out to the other Bambu. It would been extra 5 min drive but my Che craving would been met. maybe I'll try their smoothie, or stay with bubble tea, but definite not Che. P.S. My wife wasn't happy about the situation so she ended up calling the store manager. She said the manager listened to our concerns and addressed it.

We were a little confused though, because Hers Zakka is a small Japanese market, and the influencer video made it seem there was a cafe inside (did not see mention of Onezo Cafe). Actually, Hers Zakka is a market, but it does not sell cooked food. For that, you go to Onezo Cafe, and the two businesses are joined on the inside. That being said, Hers Zakka has a lot of cute items and yummy-looking snacks, that we fully intend to return and explore later. Now, I will focus the rest of my review on Onezo Cafe. Onezo Cafe is very spacious with comfy seats and a cute setup. There is a glass case full of delicious-looking confections, but my husband and I needed real food. We walked to the counter and ordered, then we noticed the ordering kiosk off to the side. The staff was very friendly.... My husband ordered the Karaage chicken combo (#8), which came with salad, California rolls, and either a tonkatsu miso or spicy tofu broth. I ordered the Korean fried chicken (KFC) combo (#10), which came with rice, salad and the same broth choices. Though my husband and I both chose spicy tofu broth, they gave him the tonkatsu, and to my dismay the spicy tofu had egg in it. Since my husband has a pork allergy and I'm allergic to eggs, we just switched. While I'm not a fan of pork, I must say the tonkatsu miso broth was delicious! My husband said the same about the spicy miso. The California rolls on my husband's place looked very mayoey, so I could not try them. My husband confirmed however, that they were indeed very good. The chicken on both our plates was very good. The Karaage was fried well and had a very good taste. The KFC was essentially the Karaage rolled in sauce. While tasty, the KFC sauce was more sweet than spicy, when I prefer more of a kick. Onezo Cafe also sells boba teas. My husband got the Coral Sea with Crystal Boba (lychee honey lemon tea), and I got the Grape Crush with Aloe (subbed coconut jelly). Both teas were delicious. We lived on the East Coast for a while, and there was a boba tea chain named Mr. Wish. I used to practically mainline this stuff, and was sad there was no Mr. Wish in MI - or anything close. One sip of my Grape Crush had me saying "Mr. Who?"! I'm not being patronizing. After three years back home I had given up on finding a boba tea I liked as much as Mr. Wish! The portion was perfect, as we were able to fill our bellies with minimal food waste. We had a plan to grab a few of their onigiri (rice balls) for later along with a dessert, but we were too full! Our total order (including tax)nwas about $40, which was a good value. I'm giving a 4-star rating. It was not clear that the spicy tofu soup contained egg, and the KFC was more sweet than spicy. Im not counting the soup mixup because that actually was a blessing in disguise. We will definitely return to explore the menu more! Same for Hers Zakka; I have my shopping list ready!

That intrigued me enough to revisit and try the drink out this past week. Thai Milk Tea, Small w/ Boba ($6.40) - As I was ordering, I was told that the sweetness couldn't be adjusted since the the tea was premade and mixed with sweetener. It's a little unfortunate, but it is what it is. On the first sip, the tea first starts with a somewhat dairy forward flavor, but immediately follows that up with an extremely roasted, smoky and somewhat astringent flavor of a very strongly brewed tea. About half a second later, an extreme sweetness floods the mouth but helps to balance out some of the smoky astringency. I'm not sure how they get it to be so smoky - I regularly brew Thai tea in an espresso machine and I've never gotten it to be so strong before. It's also much smokier than any Thai tea I've had in restaurants. The sweetness is a bit too much for me. After sipping a bit, I decided to save the rest for later and add some fresh brewed Thai tea to temper the sweetness down a bit. The boba this visit is a big improvement over my previous visit. This time, it's not rock hard; instead, the boba has a decent chew on the exterior while retaining quite a bit more firmness in the center. I found the boba to be a bit on the lumpier side and a little inconsistent in shape but it's not bad. Drink Rating: 3/5 Boba Rating: 3/5 I also asked for a small sample of the black tea. This is also pre-sweetened, probably on the order of 25% or 50% vs. a fully sweetened drink as compared to other boba shops. For my tastes, it actually right on the dot: not too sweet, which allows some of the natural tea fragrance to really be at the forefront of the drink without being drowned out. I honestly would get this tea as a milk tea without any additional sweetener added. Bobalee is a first mover into Ypsilanti. It's a very well run business, with friendly staff and great ambiance. As I mentioned in my previous review, this is a business that's worth supporting. Bathrooms - Single unisex room in the back.

This soup uses beef stock, and is ideal to keep your insides warm in the winter months, when it's very cold and snowy outside. Likewise, the egg wheat noodles were made earlier by the chef that I have found to be very delicious. We also ordered crispy rolls, which were very good, and I ended up taking my leftover rolls home with me. Bangkok 2, is a small restaurant that does a lot of carry-out business, so seating maybe an issue for large groups, and it would be advisable to call first to see if they can accommodate your gathering. However, if you're looking for a cozy spot to have dinner for two, then this restaurant might be what you're looking for. One of my friends of Chiang Mai, in the Northern Highlands of Thailand, says the food they serve here tastes closer to what she grew up with at home, and has a different flavor profile than what you will find in Bangkok. With that being said, if you're looking for an inexpensive Thai Restaurant, which has fast service, then Bangkok 2 offers wide menu to choose from.
