Amy and Claudia are so helpful and the bamboo we purchased have thrived! We bought another bunch recently and plan to get more over time. They are worth the price and are beautiful. They do need lots of water which you are told. You can't leave town without some sort of water timer or irrigation system in the Texas heat. Ours have lasted through the freeze also. Bamboo are very resilent I've learned! I've texted them a bunch and they always respond and ease my mind & provide helpful info. I would highly recommended getting your bamboo from them Posted photos bamboo now vs. when first planted. read more

We've purchased so many bamboo trees from Bamboo Your Privacy over the years, and our yard looks absolutely amazing! Amy and Claudia educated us on ALL FACTS BAMBOO and they've thrived for us. The selection was great, so we chose quite a few of the Alphonse and Graceful. We felt that the prices were reasonable for the sizes we chose. Definitely recommend visiting this business for privacy bamboo! read more

I'm pretty disappointed to leave this review. I have been a patron of Bamboo Your Privacy for about 5 years and have probably spent over $500 with them. Up until my last visit, I never had a problem with their products or service. Earlier this year I bought (2) more 1.5 gal Graceful bamboo clumps. They stayed in their pots for a couple months while I prepared a raised bed for them. The two plants were kept side-by-side and given the exact same care (water 1-3 times per day depending on temps), but one struggled while the other thrived. When it came time to plant them in the ground, the issue became clear. The happy plant had a large and healthy root system, while the struggling plant had maybe 1/8th the root mass, and they did not look healthy. Both plants got a lot of water during and following the transplant. The healthy plant didn't skip a beat. No leaf curling at all. The sick plant curled all its leaves, despite being saturated with water. All the leaves died and it's questionable whether it will survive. I wrote Amy & Claudia to relay what I was seeing. They accused me of under-watering the plants. No amount of my telling them that the plants always had moist soil and were giving the exact same care seemed to get through. I was not trying to get my money back, but I simply asked to exchange the sick plant for a more healthy one. They rudely refused and continued to blame me. I can absolutely understand having a "no warranty" policy to protect themselves from people's lack of care. But, to refuse to make an exception and stand behind your product is just bad business. The photo attached should illustrate that I have not mistreated these plants. You can actually get mail-order bamboo, with full satisfaction guarantee. I always prefer to support a local business, but between their high prices and complete lack of support, this will be the last purchase from them. read more

Bamboo Your Privacy - One happy plant, one sick plant. No help from Bamboo Your Privacy. - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Austin, Texas

I live in Los Angles and bought what I was told was clumping bamboo. When I got home I noticed the root coming out of the pot looked a lot like the running bamboo type. I reached out to the company that sold me the bamboo and I sent pictures with no response. After searching online I came across Bamboo Your Privacy's YouTube channel and decided to email them some pictures and see if they could confirm whether I had bought a runner or a clumper. I'm grateful to say Claudia & Amy got back to me soon and did confirm I was unfortunately sold runner bamboo. I'm sad I was sold something I'll need to return but very grateful to Claudia and Amy for taking the time to write me back and for saving me the headache of having to dig up runner bamboo in the future. Thank you Claudia & Amy for sharing your expertise! 10 stars! read more

We needed some privacy in our backyard. We checked out some local nurseries for bamboo but didn't find what we like. We made an appointment with "Bamboo Your Privacy" and met the staff. Two ladies we spoke know everything about bamboo. The place has a variety of healthy bamboo trees. We bought three and we love them. The price was very reasonable, too. It's been over 2 months since they've been planted and they look great!!! read more

This place is amazing! Incredible knowledge & service. Plants are healthy & the easiest landscape installation. Will be recommending them. read more

Bamboo Your Privacy - The start of Privacy! With clump bamboo. Will be adding more! - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Austin, Texas

The nice young lady that helped us decide which bamboo to choose was very knowledgeable and patient with us. She explained the differences between them and what to expect. We could tell she really enjoyed her work and it got us excited about it too! Her advice on watering the plants was perfect! She said, "When the leaves start rolling up and are looking like tacos, they need a drink!" That was great! Our plants are happy campers, growing like crazy and are spoiled! Highly recommend!! read more

Amy was so helpful when I called to ask about bamboo, which gets a bad rap because people aren't educated on the different types. Amy explained the differences in all the varieties, how it grows and how to care for it. It sounded like the perfect fit for our challenging backyard. We went to the nursery, selected our plants and had them installed two weeks later. Best decision we could've made! Thanks to Amy and her crew! read more

We bought 96 bamboo plants. Every single one of them is now dead due to the freezing weather we had in February. I have nothing against Amy. She was knowledgeable and did everything she could to make sure the bamboo flourished. If you are one of those people who thinks that climate change is not real and that we won't have increased occurrences of extreme weather events, go ahead and buy yourself a bunch of bamboo. I wish you the best of luck. But, if you are like me, and think that the freezing weather we experienced in Texas is not just a "once in a lifetime event", then I can't in good faith recommend a company that is installing plants that I don't think will survive for very long in Texas. Your bamboo go-to! Great selection, reasonably priced, knowledgeable people. I called and made an appointment for the next day. I brought pics of my yard and measurements and Amy met me as I pulled up. Bought the plants she recommended and they look great in my yard. After the 2021 February Freeze, we lost all of the hedges along the perimeter of our backyard. We knew we wanted to replace them with bamboo and found BYP through Instagram. Amy was extremely helpful through the process. From beginning to end, the communication and support was top notch. I highly recommend them! read more

So glad that I found these wonderful people when researching what kind of bamboo to buy in the Austin area. I purchased mine 2 years ago and they are always extremely helpful and super super fast to respond to emails, even when I am freaking out after hard freezes. Could not recommend buying from here more, it's a support system that cares a ton about the plants and isn't just making a quick sale. read more

By the time I showed up at my appointment at Bamboo Your Privacy, I had already done a little bit of research on bamboo and had already decided what type of bamboo I wanted to get for my space. It was an easy sale, and Claudia could have swiftly sold me some bamboo in about 5 minutes. But instead she spent a good half-hour educating me on bamboo and answering all my questions. By the time I had made my purchase, my mind was changed on what type of bamboo would be best for my yard, and I felt much more confident in taking good care of it. Claudia continues to respond to my text messages answering any questions I have about caring for my new bamboo, which I absolutely love! On their website when they say they are dedicated to educating people on bamboo, they are not messing around! Overall a very good experience. read more

Just bought a second batch of bamboo from Claudia and Amy and will certainly return if/when we plant more. They have a great selection, their knowledge of bamboo is amazing, and they're very easy to work with when scheduling an appointment. It's clear that these two ladies love working with plants and the level of detail and attention to the product they're selling is a rarity these days. They even sent me separate pictures of each item I'll need to get a drip system going, in order to make sure my bamboo is happy and fast-growing. Highly recommend. read more

From start to finish very pleasant and easy doing business with this company and we are very happy with the final product. Advised us very well on our options and pricing including an explanation regarding all the implications of the specific type and size of bamboo plants so that we could make the right choice. We were scheduled quickly and they arrived with a team that was clearly very experienced and competent with the installation. They took extra care to ensure that everything was planted exactly where we wanted. Very knowledgable and efficient group running this place. Highly recommend. read more

I needed really good quality bamboo with some real height and density for a screen across a back yard. Amy's and Claudia's stock and quality is by far the very best in the Austin area. These guys are a stellar small LOCAL Austin business with an amazing amount of beautiful clumping, non-invasive bamboo ready to go for instant screening! And they grow it themselves!! Wow - I cannot say enough good things about how easy it was to work with Amy and Claudia at Bamboo Your Privacy! I joked when I met them, I had a 911-Bamboo emergency on my hands on a very narrow property line. Boy, did they ever come to my rescue. They were amazing at responding to emails and phone calls - normally immediately and did the delivery and install super quickly. The quality of their bamboo was very good and they have all shapes and heights depending on what type of privacy you are trying to build. (They also sold me this awesome Mediterranean Palm tree that looks super cool next to the bamboo). They will help guide you and answer any questions you have although I can assure you, as they did for me, they ONLY SELL NON-INVASIVE BAMBOO. I would advise doing the same thing that I did which is to go out to their nursery in East Austin and pick out the exact ones that you want. I am soooo happy and grateful for this awesome local business! I could not have done it without them. Now, I come home every day and enjoy my backyard. (My neighbors are happy too!) THANK YOU!!!! read more

5/2022 After initial confusion regarding process for ordering, a month later was informed my order was ready. As they had not sent an order for a deposit and I was wanting to plant asap, I'd gone to the mail order route and my bamboo were already in the ground. I decided to accept 2 of the 19 originally discussed (ordered?). They did not baulk and proceeded with my new order. Results: What I received from Bamboo Your Privacy was a different species than what I ordered elsewhere however all were 3 gallon size. The two I got from Bamboo Your Privacy were at least 3 times taller and fuller than the others with comparable pricing. All are growing well but theirs are growing faster; even though they were planted a month later. The information about planting and growing were more specific and more helpful than elsewhere. I'm about to purchase more bamboo from Bamboo Your Privacy. A word about fencing vs. a living bamboo fence: Given that I planted by myself, I found it was at least a thousand less than the typical cedar fence. Bamboo will take time but will improve yard and privacy while cedar fencing will need regular repair and replacement about every 10 years. Freezing weather is a risk (generally below 18F). I'm hoping lots of mulch placed before freeze will help. My living fence is along side of the road and twice my property has been breached by wrecks which would have destroyed cedar fencing while bamboo would have self repaired while maintaining some privacy. I'm betting on the bamboo and feel purchasing through Bamboo Your Privacy is a wise choice, especially due to ongoing support plus quality. read more

My purchase of bamboo trees from Bamboo Your Privacy was one of the easiest, and best transactions that I've had during the remodel of my house in Austin. I had no idea that getting a bamboo privacy fence would be so easy! We scheduled an appointment with Amy who walked us through their straightforward options. Delivery and installation was available as soon as the next week! Amy was communicative about their arrival time, and even though we're in San Antonio they arrived right on time. The crew worked fast to install the plants. Amy and Claudia are so knowledgeable and shared great tips. While they were here I saw them responding to past customer questions and invited the same from us. The only thing I can think of is that it might be helpful to get an info sheet from them with some of those great tips written out. They do have a helpful website though. If you need privacy fast go with these ladies! The bamboo is lovely! read more

What a positive experience from start to finish. This is a fabulous local company with excellent owners. They are knowledgeable, kind, patient, and QUICK! Consultation, plants chosen, planted in under a week - WOW! I would work with them in a heartbeat if I ever need more bamboo. They really listen, understand your needs and help with appropriate choices. This is a great alternative to a fence and keeps things private but with a softer, more natural look. This actually enhanced our property and is providing the privacy we sought. Thanks Bamboo Your Privacy - we appreciate you!!!!!! read more

I am obsessive about our landscaping and interviewed a lot of folks who represent that they know a lot about and can deal with the intricacies of bamboo. My conclusion was that they don't and can't. Amy and Claudia are different. Extremely knowledgeable, no hard sell, very responsive. So I hired them to trim our beautiful clumping bamboo. They did a first class job. I was very happy to see that they and their helpers did all the trimming by hand, no mechanical trimmers whatsoever. They took their time and were very respectful of our gardens. Cleaned up around their work perfectly. Simply put, they really cared. Hard to find in today's world. I'll definitely have them back next year for some more trimming. read more

I had such a great experience with Bamboo Your Privacy this summer. Text response was quick, I got an appointment to view their plants the same day (and they were very forgiving when I was running late), and they were generous with their time in giving advice regarding selection, planting, and care.
