Pretty decent little spot for a wide range of Asian cuisine. They are probably most known locally for having egg rolls that are semi-comparable to Que Viet - although definitely not nearly that good. The wontons are definitely some of the best around however, and you can never go wrong with that! We've had the Pho, Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, and a few other items - all have been fairly good but definitely not the very best out there! Update, Despite the crazy construction and difficult exits of off Hwy 10 over the past years, this place is still churning out delicious food! Had my favorite Hot Spicy Mock Duck that never disappoints as a satisfying vegetarian dish ( they agreed to take out the fish sauce to keep it vegan). This dish with the side chili oil and some hot tea makes a tummy very happy. Also tried the Broccoli dish with Tofu. But....food was not good. The egg rolls were very dark brown on the inside and tasted nothing like Que Viet egg rolls. Pad Thai looks like it had a good dousing of ketchup. It was extremely red in color and unappetizing and therefore did not get eaten. Mongolian beef was exceedingly sweet and saucy. VERY sweet. The Bangkok shrimp and scallops were decent. First try ordering food from here and dang, not good. I took 1 bite of the egg roll and threw it away. Spent $50 and ate 10% of my food. It was so bad I threw it all away. The only good thing about it was the white rice. Also, the gentleman that dropped off the food kept banging on my door and spamming the door bell after I said leave at the door. Subpar - 2 stars. It's been 9 years since I've been to Bamboo Village. I was SO hungry...and I was SO excited...and I was SO disappointed! Unfortunately, sometime in the past decade these guys have gone from average to below average. GOOD: 1. The food is very inexpensive, especially considering recent rampant inflation. 2. My server was excellent, doing a great job despite being the only person on the floor. 3. The restaurant looks nice and modern. 4. The dining room seems to be pretty clean. BAD: 1. My tea was the usual cheap tea in a bag. It had a weird soapy smell that I could also taste. I'm not sure if it was the cup or the tea itself. Whatever the case - ew! 2. My Viet egg rolls were great 9 years ago, completely different now. They have the same wonderful crispy crust. But the inside is some weird mash or mix or hash or whatever. It was dark brown, obviously loaded down with lots of soy sauce to make is passable. Definitely a downgrade. 3. My chicken curry looked beautiful with a generous quantity of food. But the chicken had the distinctive flavor or having "turned" or "rot" or "decomp" or if you're a biology dude (like me) the distinct flavor of "putrescine". I've been feeling like crap ever since I came home. Someone from Anoka County should definitely make a spot inspection to investigate safe food handling practices in the back kitchen. 4. It was busy as hell for dinner but there was only 1 person working her ass off trying to keep up. On top of that, I watched complete chaos when the computer went down during my dinner. Understaffed - not cool. 5. Lots of messy tables not cleared off throughout (see photo). Weird. 6. The back corner is a disturbing storage and cleaning supply area (see photo). Put up a wall or something. The cheap little folding room divider doesn't cut it. Tacky. RECOMMENDATIONS: If you want to visit an excellent Asian restaurant that's only 5 minutes away, I highly recommend Ginger Café. If you're willing to drive 15 minutes to the big mall area in Coon Rapids, Ichiddo Ramen, Kyoto Sushi, and Osaka (a chain restaurant) are all good. I do not care at all what anyone says about the eggs rolls. They're fantastic. It's essentially an egg roll burrito. You get two for what is an absolutely fair price and honestly if you eat them both you're gonna have an over stretched tummy. As far as everything else on the menu goes it's good. I wouldn't complain about it at all but I'm not going to send a friend because of the lo mein, I'm gonna send them here for those damn egg rolls. The sign claimed to sell Que Viet egg rolls so we picked up a couple along with pot stickers. As a frequent diner at Que Viet, I was excited. When we got home, we could not be more disappointed. The filling in both were unrecognizable. It was basically deep fried sausage rolls and nuggets. I work by the actual Que Viet restaurant in NE Mpls and am obsessed with their egg rolls so when I saw that this place claimed to have them by my house in Anoka and Coon Rapids, I was thrilled. Unfortunately, they are NOTHING like the real thing. I came to find out that the owners of Que Viet have involved lawyers and asked Bamboo Village to take their signs down but he refuses. Also, the Coon Rapids location does not answer their phone if they're too busy (what?!) which forced us to go to Anoka and they got our order wrong the first time. Very mediocre food at best. My friend invited me to bamboo Village at Anoka to have a dinner together last Sunday. He is a regular there and I was first time. We ordered Que Viet egg rolls, cheese wontons, pho soup and house egg foo young. The egg rolls were phenomenal, cheese wontons had a lot of cheese in it(not like most places only tiny little bit cheese in it) pho soup tasted great but not oily and egg foo young big and lots gravy just the way I like it. Very "Americanized" Chinese food. The QueViet egg rolls are VERY good (although they could have been hotter temperature-wise). The sauce was thin and a perfect compliment to the egg rolls. We ordered steamed dumplings as well. The filling was very bland, but a generous helping of pork inside each one. The dipping sauce (garlic-hoisin style) was perfect to "jazz up" the taste to each person's level. The serving size was plentiful. If you finish it, you will be full. The beef with broccoli had VERY nice pieces of fresh broccoli, and the beef was tender and not very fatty at all. The Kung Pao chicken had lots of fresh veggies, and the chunks of chicken were also perfectly cooked, very tender. In general, though, the sauces over the food was a little "thick" and similar in taste. The fried rice was well done. Nothing special, but it hit the mark of an "American" fried rice. (again, the portion was sizable) The cheese wontons were crispy, and a tasty creamy filling. These, and the rest of our meals, were piping hot, so I'm guessing that the egg rolls must have been a one-time error. One key point: The service was EXCELLENT. We greeted by a very friendly lady, who consistently checked back with us, made sure drinks were full, asked if the food was ok, was willing to adjust the "spice" level in my kung pao after I had tasted it. You really can't do better than this place for service. Many restaurants could learn something from watching how this place treats their customers. read more

The Coon Rapids site was awesome before they shut it down. Tonight I ordered the same meal at the Anoka site that I had at Coon Rapids for years. The egg rolls were terrible and the hot and spicy chicken meal was cold. In addition, they said it would be 25 minutes for pick up and it ended up being almost an hour (with only a few tables too). I have no idea what happened. Delivery experience: I ordered $60 worth of food. Each time we've ordered prior to this, their food quality has gone down a little bit. Now it has hit rock bottom! They forgot my noodles for my seafood dish. I called them and requested it to be sent out. (I live 4 minutes away, no joke.) Over an hour later, I still didn't have the noodles! I called to request a refund and the receptionist refused. I ended up getting it about 2 hours later, after they closed the restaurant. Are you kidding me?! Will NEVER go here again!!!!
