I mean, can we talk about how it was only $25 for a full hour of absolute awesomeness? I actually enjoyed it more than most of the traditional table massages I've had. They start with you face and head then move down to your shoulders and arms. Then they switch it up to your feet and legs. And eventually you flip over onto your stomach, and I was impressed with how comfortable the chair was for that purpose. The most surprising part was when (oh!) they were pulling my shirt off.. and then (oh!) they unclasped my bra too. I just wasn't expecting it, but then when you realize it's because you're getting a full back massage, it's not so shocking. It was just surprising going in without knowing it. But honestly, they massaged every part of me that I didn't even realize needed massaging. If I'm feeling like I have the extra money available, I will be going back as often as possible. I'm really surprised by the 4 star rating. Never had a full body massage before, so I have no basis of comparison...BUT, the experience was mediocre at best. I'm giving this place 2 stars because the massage itself was ok, but the just so people know, the establishment is a very poor model of customer service. Firstly, they never even asked what kind of massage we wanted in the first place. Luckily they assumed correctly, but that was red flag #1. Red flag #2 is that the service prices seem inconsistent between Yelp reviewers and even at the massage parlor. The prices are literally printed in small font on one sheet of paper that is taped on a wall. But even with these red flags I still went on with the massage Yes, the massage was fine. A little painful, but it was tolerable pain. But red flag #3 was just the the awkwardness that came with paying. After signing the receipt/filling in tip and returning the receipt back to them, instead of bidding us adieu, they stared at our receipts, which made me wonder if something was wrong. Instead, we awkwardly watched them write in the tip amounts for each employee before they said "Okay," and we were shooed off. It was a strange 5 minutes, to say the least. Come one come all, this place is great! If you like one hour full body massages for cheap then this place will not disappoint. A group of girlfriends and I arrived on a Saturday for a 6:30pm appointment. The entrance way of Bamboo Forest is a small yet presentable hallway. There was a row of cushioned stools leading up to a water dispenser; but once past this set up are the dimly lit rooms where patrons received their one hour massages. In previous Asian massage establishments I've been to I left my clothes on, as did other customers within a single room. I came dressed appropriately, that is, in very loose clothing so that it was easier for the masseuse (mine was actually a man) to maneuver around the joint areas and when they stretched out my arms and legs. The most enjoyable part of the entire massage was when they tended to my feet. Prior to the massage my feet were allowed to soak in a bath of steaming hot water, which I actually enjoyed, but my girlfriends complained that the water was perhaps a tad too hot. It's been a while since I've gone to receive a full body massage, but once they hit those pressure points I began to wonder how anybody ever found the significance of pressure points to begin with! It was well worth the cost of $25 dollar (not including tip), I would definitely come back again. Parking is limited in the front of the Bamboo Forest with perhaps only 8 spots available, however there is a parking lot juxtaposed to the building and available as well. read more

Thanks to yelp for another great find. And oh my...the price! $25 hr!!?? Not sure how these people make a living but what a value. The Mrs. and I stopped in unannounced on a Sunday around 1pm and were seated immediately. We start off with our feet in a nice how bowl of liquid, while the "tech?" works on my face, neck, shoulders and arms. Then the feet come out, and its a foot, ankle and leg massage. Then flip over for your legs, buttocks (yes your butt, don't freak out that it feels good) and your back, and more arms and hands. Wow, really? 25 bucks? A friend of mine told me about this little spot on Federal a year ago... and every chance I get I go back. I've never had to wait for longer than 5-10 minutes to get in and the hours are extremely convenient. Every part of my body was hit in this massage - I felt great. I've gone with friends numerous times and we all get our massages in the same room. For those who don't like to strip down this place is perfect because you keep your clothes on the whole time. I've set up appointment/parties before where 6 of my friends and I went together. One of my friends thought the massage was too rough... but as for the rest of us we thought it was awesome! I called to make a reservation, however it probably wasn't needed since I went during the day. I highly recommend this place. I love this place! One day I thought how nice it'd be to have a legit massage so I started looking at places to go. Based on reviews I read many of them are expensive, dirty and of questionable competence. Bamboo Forest was listed in Westword and the price is well worth it! $25.00 gets you a full, one-hour massage! The place is clean and the people are always pleasant. It's quiet (when the staff speaks to each other they do it quietly) with peaceful Oriental music playing. Since it's only $25.00, it frees up a few bucks to tip the masseuse. My personal favorite is Lucy: She can be gentle, but if you need to get some deep tissue work done, she's far stronger than her petite size would suggest. read more

I love Bamboo Forest and have had such great massages there but I had a less than stellar experience there tonight. I tell a lot of my coworkers about this place (it's close enough to our offices you can snag a massage during a long lunch!) and so my staff got me a gift certificate there on October 12. I went in to use it tonight and they wouldn't accept it. The woman at the front desk said she would need to call someone else and they wouldn't know until Monday if it could be accepted (it's Wednesday evening). I went ahead and paid out of pocket, even though I had a gift certificate and didn't get any information on how to find out who to contact about the issue or if they would honor it another time. As I was walking out, they were locking the parking gate for the car shop next door, and locking my car in. I had parked in the designated "Bamboo Forest Parking" spots and yet the guy seemed pretty upset that I was asking to be let out. It was just after 6pm and I'm glad I came out of the Bamboo Forest when I did, otherwise my car would've been locked in the lot and inaccessible. I love Bamboo Forest and the kind and competent people who do the massages there, but this was such a negative experience from a customer service perspective. Can't believe I discovered this hidden gem. I get to walk in, pay 25 dollars for an hour and get a really great chair massage. Felt so refreshed I tipped her 25 dollars more. That's a 100% tip, and it's still less expensive than many massage therapists (60/hr or 1/min is standard for a massage therapist who has more than 2 yrs experience) My only gripe and it seems universal for asian chair reflexology places, is that they do a whole body massage when really i want a focus on the feet. I'm upgrading them a star for the fantastic foot massage I received yesterday. I made an appointment for a 30 minute session for foot massage only. I called only an hour ahead and they fit me in. I had a female therapist this time. While my feet soaked she gave me the best face/head massage i've ever had! She has amazingly strong hands. The last 20 minutes or so was all spent on feet/lower legs. My feet just melted to her firm touch! It was deep, and she seemed to use some pressure point/trigger point methods on the bottom of my feet that were really nice. I felt the stress melting away from my whole body! The toes are sensitive and somewhat painful at first, but by the end....no pain, only bliss. It was the best 15 bucks I've spent in a LONG time. I had a male MT and he did not stop talking to the MT next to him in Vietnamese, it was rude and the opposite of relaxing. I finally asked him with a finger over my mouth to stop talking...they don't speak English. I'm not sure if he was mad at me for asking him to be quite but he put way too much pressure on my lower back so I kind of gasped and he lightened up a little. I do not recommend any of the male therapists. If you want to check them out (its only 25 for an hour) I would ask the receptionist for a no talking massage. Or something like that. And I'm never leaving. $25 for an hour of blissful rubbing, pounding and pressure-point stimulating?!? It's a strange concept... to get slapped and rubbed down in a dark room next to complete strangers by a complete stranger... but believe me, you get over it quickly. Ashley (my adorable massage therapist) went from complete stranger to knowing every point on my body that needed care. She even massaged my orbital bones. I've been to a handful of different reflexology places, this one had a similar MO to the rest. I really liked how this place put the three of us in our own curtained off room and the lighting was dimmed. It made for a nice relaxing atmosphere vs. some of the places I frequent where you're in a chair in a larger, less private, noisy room. They feature the 3/4 size massage tables which are great for versatility but I prefer the tempurpedic chairs which are much more comfortable. My back usually hurts while my feet are in the soaking tub. The massage was good. I stand on my feet all day so I know it's good for me but OUCH! I should have spoken up and told her to be a little more gentle (I'm not a sissy either). I loved the bottle of water offered at the end. I'm not sure if I will go back or not, I think I'm on a quest for my new favorite place in town. read more

This was by far the worst and most painful massage I've ever received. The worker was frantically massaging me and not at all trying to sooth any knots or problem areas I might have. Just trying to get her job done. She took no time trying to warm my muscles up, she just went IN. And was going HARD. It felt like she was massaging my bones rather than my muscles and it hurt. Who massages someone's spine? Lol. I can handle a massage with good pressure but this was straight up PAINFUL! I had to ask her to go lighter. And she still barely accommodated that request. Avoid this place at all costs! My back hurts 5 days later! This was AWFUL. I don't have any idea how it has so many decent reviews. Maybe they had another masseuse. It was genuinely so horrible, I wouldn't recommend anyone coming here. To start, we spoke to 3 separate people there and none of them spoke English so figuring out what we wanted was horrible because you just had to guess what each service involved. This also led to both me and my friend being genuinely hurt during our massages- we both expressed multiple times that certain places were extremely painful and they had no idea what we were saying and at one point, I was pointing at a scar from a previous back surgery that is extremely painful to touch and said I needed him to not touch me there and apparently he took that as me asking him to focus in on that spot. Only after I bent my whole body to get away from him and groaned in pain did he stop. I also needed changes to the position of my chair/bed due to my back issues so I asked to be lifted up a bit to release pressure on my spine but since he couldn't understand me he completely flattened my bed (very rapidly, it felt like he just released a latch or something). My friends masseuse did the same thing, just different circumstances. My masseuse also REEKED of cigarettes and when he massaged my face and scalp I genuinely was nauseated by the smell of his hands and couldn't even relax because I felt so unnerved by it all. My friend said he made the entire room smell of cigarettes, since I had the smell all over my face at this point I couldn't tell one way or the other. I even smelt like cigarettes when I went home so I had to shower as soon as I was home. The man who massaged me also made me a bit uncomfortable because he focused a lot of time on my butt (more than any other area) and was honestly kind of just juggling it at one point so I don't see what technique that would be, he also heavy breathed the whole time he was doing that so it just remade me feel uneasy. I saw another review with a similar issue so I would definitely be carefully if you have a male masseuse there as a woman. We paid for a 60 minute full body massage which was done over my turtle neck and jeans (which I didn't know would be the case since no one could Explain the services to us) but it wasn't even a full 60 minutes. Our appointment was for 4:30, we laid down and soaked our feet for about 10-15min before the massage started and they finished the massage at 5:20 so in total it was about a 35-40 minute massage. The facility also seemed a bit dirty so I felt a little stressed about that. I cannot express enough that you should NOT go here, the other positive reviews convinced us but I truly wish we never went. I would never spend $40 on a service like this. read more

Was passing through Denver on my way back from a ski trip, and had time for a much needed massage before heading for the airport. I yelped a number of places, pretty much all massage envy's in the area, and worked my way down the yelp list until I eventually found Bamboo Forest. Yes, they could fit me in and only $25/hour! I headed over, not sure what to expect. It was one of the fairly typical Chinese foot massage places, where they soak your feet for a while while they work on you. I was taken to a back and sort of private screened off portion of the room. I could hear someone else being worked on behind the curtain, but I was the only one in my section, despite there being a couple of additional chairs in there. At first I was told to leave most of my clothes on, but after requesting, they agreed it would be better if I took off all clothing except my underwear. The masseuse was determined to work out all of my tension and worked on me as if I were being tenderized for dinner. A really good massage, and exactly what I needed! After 20 minutes she pulled my feet out of the water and really worked deep on my feet before having me flip over...wow- really deep...where was she when I was suffering from plantar faciatis, was what I was thinking. Came back in recently and unfortunately ended up with a masseuse that reaked of stale cigarettes. Imagine having hands that smell of cigarettes rubbed all over your face, in your hair and body. Gag. I could still smell it on me when I left so I went straight home to shower. I tried to relax despite the stench but all 3 staff in the room, while providing massages, thought it would be okay to talk loudly and carry on a conversation with each other. I've been here once with my mother, sister and teenage cousin. While the group setting is non-traditional, it's not that strange. I recommend going with a friend for your first time. I'd also recommend wearing shorts, that way they can massage your upper thighs but not a skirt (you'll be moving around a bit). The room is dimly lit and filled with what I'd describe as La-Z-Boy massage chairs. You keep your clothes on and they'll massage your face and head first. Then move down the front of your body. Arms and legs. All while your feet are soaking in a nice hot bath. I believe they then lotioned my feet and then fiipped me over. They place a towel over your entire backside and rub everything (yup, I even got a little butt rub which is sometimes just what you need after a good workout). You really can't beat the price and the staff is very nice. I've haven't been back yet but I'd like to soon. Only weird thing was that my masseuse put her fingers in my ears simultaneously and then pulled them out during the head massage. I don't know if this is a standard massage technique but it made me a bit uncomfortable. The others in my party didn't experience this. read more

Tried this place out for the first time the other day, and I was happily surprised! I chose this place simply out of other positive Yelp reviews and they were correct. I called around 2PM to see if they had an appointment open same day. Luckily they did and I headed in at 2:30! I showed up for my appointment a few minutes early, and had plenty of time to change in the bathroom into more loose fitting clothing. I had Lucy and she was awesome!! She started by soaking my feet, and a facial massage. Literally head to toe, I was in a full hour of relaxation! The room was quiet, dark, and community style. Only two other people were in the room and just finishing their massages. She only walked out twice for just a quick minute. Overall I'll definitely be back! 25$ for the massage and 15$ for tip makes this place a really inexpensive treat. read more

I am going to Bamboo Forest for over 4 years now and love it! And no, it is not true that they tell you to undress... ever. It is a shared room place (what do you expect for the price?!?) and every time I was on my stomach (and took of my shirt), they would bring a big blanket and held it around me so I can put my clothes back on and another customer doesn't see it. Update: I increased the rating from 2 to 3 stars because the owner contacted me and apologized for the poor service, and he obviously cares a lot about his customers. So we're cool in my book. Wow this was so disappointing! I called and got me and my friend an appointment for their last slot of the day. We got there 15 minutes early and paid ahead of time, and were in the chair really quickly. There was only one other guy in the common room, and he seemed like he was really enjoying his massage. As soon as my masseuse walked in, she looked at the clock and said "too late! too late!" right to my face. Um... the sign says you're open until 10. It's not like I came running in 15 minutes until close and demanded a massage- we called and made an appointment hours before. She proceeded to argue (loudly!) with my friend's masseur the entire time in Vietnamese, obviously about how she was tired and didn't want to still be working. Not very relaxing. The massage itself was pretty bad- very pinchy with good pressure but in all the wrong spots. I think she might have been deliberately trying to hurt me because she was pissed that she had to stay until closing time. When she asked me to flip over on my stomach, she looked at me and said "next time you come at 8:30, OKAY?" Whoa, seriously? I waited tables through college and know that it sucks when a customer comes in late, but that's the nature of the business you're in. If I had given every late table I had walk in around closing time horrible service, my ass would have been fired in a heartbeat. So to sum it up, shitty massage plus shitty attitude = 1 star. I went to have a message and I am very happy with the pressure. The deep pressure was exactly what I need due to a cough my back is so sore. The only thing I didn't care for was the aloof customer service they give. I realize language is an issue but when I left both the therapist and lady at desk did not even smile and looked at me with blank look when they said bye. I can't tell you how many times I have paid 80+$ for a massage only to be disappointed by the service and provider either chatting me to death while trying to relax or just giving a mediocre massage! NOT Bamboo Forrest they get right to the point no chatting it's a quiet and very clean place they start off with a hot foot bath and do a full body massage fully clothed( they do remove your shirt when they do your back ) totally legit and all for 25$ for an hour !! This is amazing. They start by soaking your feet. Then, as you are soaking they massage your head and arms. Then they work the feet complete with oils that make your feet feel smooth and refreshed. They dry off your feet and start to work on your back. I really like deep pressure so it is great for me but I am sure you can ask for lighter if you want but it is as good as any chiropracter I have visited. It is clean and you have your massage in a large quite room with others so it is a place you can go with your friends and spouse. read more
