(Bibimbap) and some true Italian (Gnocchi and homemade Pasta) with the rest being slight variants of both. We had the Burrata salad with greens and roasted and fresh tomatoes (nicely skinned) with Pesto, Pune Nuts and a balsamic dressing. It was beautiful but needed more salt and acid to tame down the Burrata. Still a nice salad. We split the Patate Fritte which was fried potatoes and gnocchi with a really flavorful Chipotle Mayo. The whole dish didn't work. The gnocchi were over fried and too small to eat with the much larger potatoes which were also underdone. The Tuna Poke Bowl was very nice (and a good deal) with all of the usual components. The Salmon was cooked perfectly (crispy on the outside slightly translucent inside ) and came with a wasabi cream, lots of roasted veggies (potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, green beans) and somewhat random things like cornichons, caper berries, and beets. The whole thing worked but would have been better with some editing. I personally wanted more wasabi in the cream and wished that it didn't get watered down by all the veggies. They have a nice cocktail list and a decent list of wines by the glass, several local all fairly priced. The place is modern looking with windows overlooking downtown streets in two sides. The place is very modern with lots of metal and concrete and consequently lots of energy and lots of noise. I see this as a great space for a bunch of friends, less so for a romantic dinner. Overall I liked this place. It could be better and I would return. I love what they are aiming for.

We had chips and salsa and guacamole, and then a seafood tower, although since they were out of oysters we ended up with two jars of black lumpfish caviar, which was not a bad thing, although the only time I've eaten caviar with a dinner fork.

Our servers on both occasions were highlights, attentive yet also leaving us be. Last night it was just K and I and the previous visit there were five of us outside on the patio. The space is nicely decorated but has no real charm or ambiance, which is understandable in a big hotel. The menu is extensive enough that you should be able to find something to meet the needs of your palate while here, but there are many choices within walking distance that may be a better choice of you are looking for a specific culinary experience. If you don't want to leave the hotel, you shouldn't be disappointed with your choice. Our food while not amazing during each visit was solid, and well presented. It might be a little on the higher end cost wise, but what isn't these days. Given all the choices in the neighbourhood within a short stroll, you may want to explore, but also understand the best choice might be in the hotel you're staying at.

The Med ( highly recommend! Will come back)…read more The restaurant has a strong Mediterranean influence, with a fusion of other culinary traditions. I had the Pollo al funghi (Chicken with mushrooms) on linguine pasta noodles. Very good portion with a least 3 different mushrooms and a very good amount of chicken. My love had the seafood penne. Lots of seafood in a lovely cream sauce. Also good sized portion. For Drinks, extensive wine and drink list but because it was a hot day we both had the white sangria (excellent as well) If you have a large enough appetite, I would suggest to getting an order of the bread to mop up any remaining sauce . Service staff were attentive, polite, and professional. I would almost say European in nature, in the best sense of not trying to hurry you along, and yet easily enough to catch their eye in case you wish anything. Sweetie was very happy with the ambience. Cool, and dark(ish) with eclectic art adorning the walls. We went in early and were seated easily but if you come anytime from 6 on, reservations might be required to ensure you have a wonderful meal. Street parking was available ($1.25 an hour, 2 hour max, with the meters only in effect until 6 PM) (I know, couldn't believe it myself...)

Everything was fresh & cooked to perfection. This is a very comfortable place. No loud music, so we could carry on a conversation easily. We shared a dessert it was more than enough for two. Fresh pineapple fried in a tempura coating laid up on two scoops of wonderful ice cream with a Carmel sauce. If you're looking for a great fresh meal of assorted fresh fish this place can't be beat. The service is spot on. There when you need something otherwise you're left alone. No one hovering over you. There is a small patio if you like to sit outside. Have a bear or a glass of wine with your meal. Adjoining the restaurant is the fish monger. Stop & give this spot a try I'm sure you'll be pleased with your meal & the service. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Broken Anchor to anyone looking to have a great meal if assorted types of fish & chips. There's something in the menu to please everyone. We dropped in on a Friday (around 6:15pm). The inside is small with about 5 tables. You order up at the counter and pay first. The menu consists of shares, tacos, bowls, sandwiches, fish & chips and family packs. They also have a very small, limited happy hour (1:00pm to 5:00pm). - Wild pacific cod ($21.55 for 1/2 lb) - the cod was extremely disappointing; completely dry and overcooked. The fries were the same. Soggy, limp and bland. Coleslaw was passable but oddly not cut evenly. - Steamed clams & mussels ($19.00) - came with four pieces of buttered bread. The white wine sauce and garlic was decent but something you could replicate at home. Would have liked a little more clams and mussels for the price point. Was hoping to find a gem but left Broken Anchor disappointed. Try somewhere else for your fish & chip fix.
