I put my number in but apparently, she was ringing up my order as a brand new purchase. When I told her that I was returning an item, she responded that I never informed her that I had a returned. I responded by informing her that she never said hello to me and never asked what I needed. She argued back that she asked me how I was doing and that it was my fault that she rung up the purchase. I educated her on customer service and informed of better ways to act as a cashier. She processed my return finally. Because of this interaction, I wouldn't come back to location. If Kristen isn't able to remain professional and welcoming while working at the cash register, she should find a different position that doesn't require employee-to-customer interactions.

We had trouble with some ski boots purchased at sun and ski being tight on the front of the foot…read more We went back to sun and ski, totally expecting to have to plead our case for someone to help. Instead, we got great customer service and sympathetic and helpful ski boot fitter. Alex waz great and she listened and helped. She heat molded the boot, putting a piece of foam around the front of the foot, so the boot molding could expand more when heated. We went back skiing the next day and the fix worked amazing. My daughter said the boots felt great and the tightness was gone.

Hello REI, I was…read morevery disappointed with my treatment at your Timonium bicycle department today. In the past (many) visits, I have received courteous, prompt fairly priced service from the crew. Today was an exception. When I picked up my Novara Hickory rear wheel I was told it would be $64. My service request was to adjust the axle bearings that had slight play. When I was told this price, I asked that the REI work code be reviewed since what I asked for was clearly not what got coded. In looking at the receipt I see code "900000355 Hub brrg repl-rr". The technician would not make any review so I asked to speak to a manager. I repeated my request for review of the code. Surely there is a code for simple bearing adjustment as opposed to replacement. She refused to look at the codes - might not have been a department where she has expertise. She held the book, but didn't look at any codes and pointed out that when I signed the monitor, I was accepting the "estimate" for work. Since I have had a consistent run of satisfactory work/pricing at REI, I did not review the pricing before signing the screen. She repeated, asking me several time "did you sign?" - putting aside my request for review of the code - and any possible correction. Of course she reminded me that if I didn't pay, REI would keep my wheel. I really needed to hear that. My reasonable request was set aside. I paid and promised her to take my future business elsewhere. That is where things stand. I was not treated with either courtesy, or a businesslike response to my request to review the code - tough luck for you Mr. Customer. I'll guess any reasonable retail service manager would know better than to ask a customer the same question several times - as though, you signed - you own any problem. I took this as a mockery. To the extent this treatment is REI policy, then yours is not a business I can support.

The backpacks that I looked at were a bit larger and heavier than what I am looking for. I perused several sandals and the first pair of Teva sandals I saw were ginormous. The sandals look like they were swallowing my feet. The sandals at this retailer are likely meant more for practicality and comfort rather than their style. I found a second pair of Teva sandals that weren't as wide and fit my feet better. They are not the cutest, but they felt comfortable when I tried them on. The staff are amazing. I was greeted by three employees. The first one greeted me when I entered the store. The second one asked if I needed anything when I passed by him while I was shopping. The last one Krissy asked if I needed help when I was looking at the sandals. Krissy informed me about their lifetime membership which cost $30 and their current $30 new member bonus card which you get with a $50 purchase.
