Unfortunately, that has been my experience more times than I'd like to admit. The first shop I called gave me a bad feeling right away based on their customer service, but I still made an appointment. Afterward, I checked their Yelp reviews and was shocked by how many negative ones they had. That didn't sit right with me, so I decided to get a second quote. I already had a good idea of what was wrong with my car based on past experience. When I called this shop, the difference was immediate. They were professional, respectful, and didn't argue with me or try to upsell me on unnecessary repairs. I specifically looked for negative reviews--and there were none. I dropped my car off early that morning, and they gave me a clear time estimate for when it would be ready. They even sent photos of the issue. While I didn't fully understand what I was looking at, the fact that they were transparent enough to share images--knowing I could easily research them--told me everything I needed to know about their honesty. I don't remember the technician's name, but they took great care of my foreign car, Lexi, and I'm beyond relieved not to be driving around with grinding rotors anymore. I truly appreciate their professionalism and the way they treated me as a customer. Every single mother needs a mechanic she can feel safe with--and I'm so grateful I found one. My mechanic in Catonsville said Marvin's was the one place in the Baltimore metro area he trusted to fix & replace only the parts that actually needed it, as the issue was some sections of the exhaust train & the metal parts clamping it to the car had rusted enough for the whole exhaust train to break free when I hit the pothole [my car's so old, its stereo is an AM/FM radio + cassette tape & CD player which was a "deluxe" upgrade back when someone bought it new from their local dealership]. I trusted my mechanic, so I drove from Catonsville to Brooklyn Park & showed up as a walk-in at Marvin's. It was first come, first served & they had a vehicle in each bay plus 1-2 others who'd checked in ahead of me. I sat & read a book I was in the middle of, & before I knew it, one of the guys told me I could pay & be on my way. I asked how much I owed, then had to ask him to repeat it because I was sure I'd missed part of the number he'd said, because my total couldn't possibly be a number with so few digits. Turns out I'd heard it right the first time. That was 4 years ago. I still drive the same car & haven't had any issues with the exhaust system since (still passes its MVA smog checks). If you've got a muffler or any exhaust train issue, this is the place to at least get an estimate, whether you live in the City or in whichever Maryland county & driving to Brooklyn Park is quicker than driving to DC or PA. Marvin's is honest, has experienced mechanics, and no one there tried to sell me anything - they just put my car in a bay, lifted it up, looked at it from below & told me they could fix it. Which took less time & MUCH less money than I'd expected.

John was straight forward from the beginning gave me a ballpark of what I would pay and things I would need to expect and how much time it would take. Also my parking brake is old so I had it towed over night to the location because it was stuck closed and John disengaged the parking brake for me for free. Bike runs awesome went in feeling like a trash can on wheels and left riding like a new bike. I found AZ Auto body shop and decided to take a chance on them and wow, not only was it SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper and done very well, but it was ready the next day! This is going to be long because I want to be fair and detailed. I went in to have a few things…read moredone on my '07 Ducati S4RS and it took an excessive amount of time by anyones standards. Especially considering that Brian(Kundratic) was taking in other bikes and completing jobs on them while I was still waiting around. This was a project I had been planning for a year and I was pretty patient, but 4 months for a paint job, powder coat, ruined fender, and rear sprocket/frame slider install is ridiculous. It wouldn't have been so bad if I had not seen other bikes getting done while I waited and if Brian didn't have such a terrible attitude towards getting anything done on time and getting good workout out of his paint subcontractor. For the $5k I spent here I had to go somewhere else to have some of their work corrected. I'll explain my experience with each of the things I had done below. Paint job: Paint job seemed pretty pricey @ $2,200 for tank and front/rear fender. (2 colors, 2 black numbers, and some pinstriping on a sportbike. Also had 2 decals put on the gas tank) Paint came back wrong TWICE. First time there was red that bled under a pinstripe into a white field, second was bubbles under a decal. The bubbles could have been there when the paint work came back the first time but Im not sure. Either way 2 issues that the painter should have caught before returning the work. Brian doesn't do the paint work himself and he sent it back the first time. It came back a month later with bubbles under one of the decals, the one on the other side of the gas tank looked fine but I was told by Brian's painter up in PA (skip something) "we don't warranty decals provided by the customer". My question is if you see an issue why wouldn't you tell me so I can get new decals to you instead of producing a shit product and blaming the customer? Through all this back and forth Brian was more concerned about Skip being upset than with me getting a good paint job. I had to go to another painter to fix this a-hole painters work. (He deserves that description based on my email conversations with him) Rear fender: This will be hard to explain without pictures but suffice it to say this could have been done MUCH better. I had a rear fender for a Ducati sport classic 1000 that I wanted to have cut to fit snugly around the tail end of the seat the way the S4RS OEM rear fender does. I could have done this myself but figured why not have Kundratic do it as they are doing everything else. Brian ended up making the cut too wide and left a .5" gap between the seat and the fender. When I asked him about it he just said "I can fix it, its just time" explaining that he could fill in the gaps with fiberglass but he would charge me for the time. If he hadnt messed up the template and cut it too wide in the first place it wouldnt need to be fixed!! Powder coat: I needed to have each side of the engine cases powder coated black which obviously required removing them and replacing the seals and gaskets when the powder coated pieces were reinstalled. Instead of ordering the parts himself, I had to order them from Pete's Cycle. (The other shops I went to for repairs said they would have ordered the parts themselves as that is part of their service) the powdercoat job was fine and the reinstall was done well. But the attitude in getting the work done and the speed at which it went sucked NET NET: I had to dispute several charges with my credit card company over 2 months to cover the cost of paint repair and to get compensation for the ruined fender. For a bad attitude, slow work, and no concern as to whether not the customer is treated right, or to turn a dream project into a nightmare, go to Kundratic Kustoms!
