I had an amazing time. I could barely boil water before I went to the chef shop. I made my first batch of cookies from scratch and it was awesome. The chef was very patient with me and help be to succeed and build confidence. I also got to help in preparation of the crab cakes which were so delicious. I cannot recommend this place again. They have a loyal customer for life. read more

Cannot recommend this place enough! My fiancee and I got the pizza, calzone, and Stromboli class as a Christmas present and we had the best time. The staff was fun and the food was great. We will definitely come back for another class! read more

I did an online class for Maryland Crab Soup and Cream of Crab with my boyfriend. We loved it! The he soup came out great!!! The chef walked us through it and gave wonderful tips along the way. He was also funny and kept the class engaging which I feel is hard to do over Zoom. I've never done an in person class but I enjoyed this one and plan to sign up for another one. read more

when I saw this place as a Yelp event, I knew I had to sign up! I LOVE to cook and I always wanted to learn how to make pasta so this was perfect. When I tell you this was the best Yelp event I've been to I mean it!! The atmosphere was amazing, BYOB, and everyone was so helpful. We had master chef Edwin Scholly and he was AMAZING!! He shared his experience and history with us, I felt like I was around family lol. And best part was the food came out amazing! I loved that we all got to cook something. I will most definitely be back for another class. Thanks again Yelp and Baltimore Chef Shop!! read more

My partner and I attended an in person sushi making class here the other evening. Chef Stephanie was fantastic, she had great energy, offered tons of tips and made the class extremely enjoyable. As someone who has never made sushi, I was extremely nervous, but she made everyone feel comfortable, and really helped make the process fun but educational. This was our second class at BCC and we will be back for more! Great environment. read more

Took the French Macaron class and loved it! The pace was perfect and Chef Lauren did a great job making sure she knew where we all were in the process. She explained not just what to do but why and I learned so much. Macrons are something I've wanted to make for years but was afraid to try just using a recipe. Looking forward to doing more, and looking forward to taking more classes with Baltimore Chef Shop. read more

My teen and I attended the donut making class in person. We had a wonderful time bonding, having fun and learning new kitchen skills. The staff and chef we very friendly and fun to work with. We will definitely book another class and visit again!! read more

We have done numerous classes as a couple, with kids, and now even on Zoom. This place never disappoints. The chefsat the Baltimore Chrf Shop are all very patient and knowledgeable. As fairly advanced learners, my husband and I have always found the classes to be not only entertaining but full of important little tips. We have learned everything from pasta making two knife skills to Vietnamese Street Food to making Macarons to tempering chocolate. There is absolutely something for everyone at every level This is a wonderful destination whether you live in Baltimore or whether you are just visiting. And the Zoom classes now allow anyone anywhere to enjoy the charm of this wonderful place. Highly recommend! read more

I took the canning class and it was great! Very casual, great instructor, cute location, well appointed, and a little pricey but I'm looking forward to going back! read more

SUMMARY: Pretty fun... and tasty! FULL STORY: Came to donut-making class on a Sunday AM with a friend. Overall a positive experience! They had coffee brewed and ready to go, and stations set up with ingredients in marked jars. The shop is small, but had great sunlight near the windows & felt like enough space for the number of people. I'd say it's cute without being cutesy. They seem to book up ahead of time, so consider checking the calendar of classes for the upcoming 1-2 months to see what appeals and sign up. Easy enough to book online. They had a couple of long workstations set up -- each with 6 participants and printed recipes. Within each group of 6, you divide the recipe components to ultimately make all the recipes (a team of 2 might make the dough for one batch, the filling for one batch, and the glaze for another...). That's pretty much the only way to get through all the recipes in the allotted time... but also means you don't personally make every component hands-on. I think we did plenty though and contributed to most of the recipes. Keep in mind that the fate of some of the final product could be in the hands of a 10-year-old (at our table, that meant one batch ended up salty instead of sweet -- oops!) The chef was organized and friendly -- seemed to have a sense of how each group was doing and would pause to show mini-demos at key steps (apple dicing, turning out and rolling dough, oil temp and frying, etc....). Then you can work within your groups with some pro tips and guidance along the way. Timing was just about right. At the end, you clear the tables, set up barstools, and plate and taste the masterpieces :) I think an even better setup would be to come as a group of 6 friends and cook at one of the big tables together. Note: The chefs rotate for different dates/times. Meters are free on Sunday! read more

The Holiday Chocolate class was a delight. Chef Jeff is amazing and we had a great time making chocolate treats. It is a professionally run kitchen and was very educational. We learned skills that will last us a lifetime and can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this class. Do yourself a favor and take this class. You'll learn something and the chocolate treats we made were delicious. Thanks so much to the staff for making this a great holiday experience. read more

Always a great time! Fun as date night, hanging out with friends or going solo. We've taken all the carbs - pizza, bread and pasta - and loved all of them. Classes are 3 hrs long and you're busy cooking right up until the end when you get to eat every last bite of what you've cooked. The chef instructors are very knowledgeable about many cuisines and techniques and love to answer every question you have. They also help you learn through making a mistakes (you can make a successful cheese sauce with the wrong cheese... but some times, using the wrong flour in baking just can't be fixed). We've had a blast at every class and can't wait to try more! read more

What a waste, this isn't cooking class. This is "Here are some ingredients and recipes, good luck." The instructor paid no attention to what students were doing and gave no direction. If you like spending time with retired housewives from Ellicot City and Timonium who want to take over because they made pancakes for their kids, this is the class for you. read more

Best cooking camp ever. My sons attended the virtual teen around the world camp. We ordered the food kit which was a huge help. Chef Steph was enthusiastic, patient, accommodating, and professional. She handled the online environment beautifully. The progression of recipes was scaffolded so that by the end of the week, my oldest son was completely independent. The recipes were authentic and delicious. At the end of the camp, my older son asked, "what other camps can I take?" Focus on the presentation of the final meal was wonderful, as it enticed our sons to try new foods. Thank you for an amazing food journey! read more

Entertaining, informative and engaging virtual Around the World camp for teens. My son (13) was enrolled but his sister (18) ended up being home and participated with him. Both loved Chef Pat and the entire experience. We pre-purchased the ingredients through Baltimore Chef Shop and were really glad they offered this service. It made the experience much easier for Mom (instead of having to shop for all everything). Would highly recommend this camp! read more

This is the 3rd class at Baltimore Chef Shop. Sushi! Virtual classes are a sign of the times and even though we weren't in the kitchen with the chef, he did a wonderful job. We had two different camera angles so we could see him head on as well as what he was doing on the cutting board / counter. Amazing job, we will be doing another soon. read more

Took an online class with several socially-distanced folks and Chef Pat yesterday--Brunch Crepes. I live out of state but have taken a few in-person classes with my folks when I'm home to visit. I love this place, and this class was just as good as ever. Chef Pat was funny, informative, and helpful. The classes are well-paced, easy for inexperienced cooks, and truly satisfying. I highly recommend signing up for an online course if you're stuck in your house, and definitely get to an in-person class when possible. read more

My sister in laws and I attended a knife skills class with chef egg and had a lot of fun! We learned skills to properly use knives in the kitchen and after chopping ended with food to snack on! Chef Egg was very helpful and encouraging to all of the class. I would definitely recommend taking this class. Upstairs there was a pizza making class and it smelled amazing, we will probably try that one next! read more

My new favorite place in Baltimore. So much fun for a client dinner. The house is amazing and instructors are very patient. Will be back.

Fabulous Brunch Crepe class with Chef Adam on Sunday morning! Loved that we all work as a team, and we all got to actively participate. The meal was delicious. We can't wait to go again! It is a perfect way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, team building etc. in addition, you can purchase gift certificates for any occasion. read more

I could talk all day about how much fun my mother-in-law and I had at Baltimore Chef Shop. I bought a Couples Cook gift certificate for her Christmas present and I nailed it. We both LOVED the Moroccan cooking class. They were very responsive to my emailed questions prior to using the gift code. We received an informative email prior letting us know how to prep (closed to shoes). When we arrived we were greeted with friendly faces, carefully prepped work areas and a warm, bright kitchen. All supplies were within reach with carefully provided ingredients. We tackled our recipes with the guidance of Chef Skiz Fernando. He was obviously very knowledgeable about the topic, yet still had the friendly, humorous attitude that made the class fun. He's like a non-pompous, friendly Bourdain After completing our recipes, we sat outside on the deck, enjoying our Chicken Tagine, couscous, tomato soup and carrots. For me, it was better that I did not drink alcohol while cooking (I wanted to focus on this new type of cooking) but its BYOB, so knock your socks off. It's kinda fun to not have to wash dishes either! Can't wait to go back! read more

Amazing experience, very friendly and clever staff. Our group of 15 was easily accomodated and we learned alot.

My husband and I just celebrated our anniversary with a fantastic knife skills class in our own kitchen! Chef Scott Ryan was extremely accommodating (we had to reschedule once), friendly, a great teacher and clearly a fabulous chef. He brought all the ingredients and knives, taught us basic techniques and helped us whip up a delicious dinner. It was a unique, fun experience that I would recommend for anyone who enjoys cooking and eating! read more

This place was AMAZING! We participated in a private crepe making class for my sister's bachelorette party. From the second we got there, we were welcomed warmly into the kitchen and were made to feel right at home. Chef Joseph was extremely knowledgeable and passionate and was patient with each and every one of us no mater what our cooking level was at. We were all amazed at our final product. We would all go back in a heartbeat! read more

I took the Taste of Normandy French cuisine class yesterday. Outstanding. The food was excellent. The Chef was quite helpful. I've taken several cooking classes where I live in Berkeley, California. Had my nice sunglasses stolen here- most likely by an employee. I was gone for a total of 36 minutes before I realized I had left them, called them, and was told they could not find them. It's interesting that the employees cleaned up right afterwards and didn't find them. In the following days, they claimed that someone sitting at my table must have accidentally took them home- I believe this was an excuse. Our instructor was fine, but I didn't find the clean up/assistant staff to be very friendly to begin with. The class itself was just okay, but now I would never go back knowing my belongings are not safe, and would never recommend going to anyone I know. Keep them in your car if you decide to go there. read more

My 13-year old son and I took a donut making class and couldn't have had a better time. We had a fun group of class participants, and Chef Charlotte was great--knowledgeable, personable and helpful. We got to choose among types of donuts we wanted to make and went with Boston Cream, my son's choice. These are typically not my favorite donut, but these were honestly the best I've ever had IN MY LIFE. I keep dreaming about the cream filling, which almost tasted like flan. So good, I may make again just for that. My son is interested in culinary school, so we plan on taking more classes. Also, super cute kitchen! read more

I just finished a knife skills class at Baltimore Chef Shop, which was excellent! The instructor was extremely knowledgeable and a good teacher. Great team building activity! There was a group of 11 of us that were in Baltimore for a conference, a night of cooking was just what we needed. The set-up was perfect and everything was thoughtfully organized. We all worked together to prepare 4 different items. Chef made everything look so simple and lent a hand when needed. The cheese tray was a great addition, which we were able to snack on as we cooked. Thank you for the great experience and wonderful food!! read more

My husband and I did the Indian cuisine class. It exceeded our expectations. Nate was our head chef and he was fantastic! The other two helpers were great too. One kept our work space clean and stored our completed dishes. The other kept the dishes and cooking utensils continuously cleaned and ready for re stock. The recipes were great and well thought out. The ingredients were fresh and ready to go. We will attend more classes! read more
