I had a great time at Amazing Glaze. My department went together as a group. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. They took the time to give thorough explanations, answer questions, and guide us in the art-making process. I appreciated the stoneware and glaze selection. That pottery is microwaveable and dishwasher safe. They had many different glaze colors and textures to mix and match. There was a wide variety of stoneware and regular pottery to choose from, too. I hope I can go back on my own sometime soon. read more

Went here for the first time for my daughters 17th Birthday. We had sooo much fun painting our chosen items and seeing the final outcome left me in awe. I'm reviewing in the afterglow of a great night out with friends. The group of us left the partners and kids at home to check out Ladies' Night, a byo event that occurs monthly. The staff were an equal balance of friendly, helpful and hands off so we could be in our own world together to bond. (If you're a parent, you know the immense value of getting uninterrupted time away to BS with friends, no?) What a great shop! Amazing Glaze is located in Mt Washington by the Whole Foods. The shop has many items to choose from, large and small! The space is functional and great for small/large groups. There was a birthday party when we were there. You are able to view paint samples and select your own colors. There's a sink where you can wash supplies of painting more than one item and staff are fantastic. You are able to take your time and not feel rushed. If there's a wait, your name is added to a list and you'll receive a text when space is available. I absolutely recommend Amazing Glaze as a fun activity for any age! read more

Paint your own pottery and similar style art studios are few and far between so I was pleased to find Amazing Glaze. It can be busy on the weekends so I recommend showing up right when they open to get a table to work at. This is really a place for all ages. The prices for the ceramic items were pretty reasonable as it includes the glaze, and firing. Check out their website for events and Adult Only times with BYOB too. The girls on staff were really pleasant and nicely managed a kids birthday party, and always made sure the glazes were fresh along with fresh washed supplies for use. Dedicate appropriate time here though- if you get involved in complicated painting or patterns, you're going to be painting quite awhile! read more

Positive: environment is calming and you're able to clear mind as you create/paint on the item of your choosing. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Negative: There is a lack of organization system for picking up completed work. Everyone's items are stacked on a shelf and you have time find your item. Nothing is separated by name or contact. Someone can easily grab your work and go. Unfortunately my item was given away even though my name was at the bottom. No one has contacted me in regards of my item nor have I received a refund. I'm really irritated by this especially with living a distance from this location. read more

Love this place, have been here two times and the amount of selection and paint they have is great for kids or adults. I will say it is a little cramped in there so if you go on the weekend maybe don't go until later but overall a cute and relaxed place. read more

Date nights during COVID are a little harder these days but amazing glaze was a fun choice! It's geared more towards kids or families but that doesn't mean couples can't have a good time! We booked an appointment online (super easy) and spent about 2 hours painting. It ended up being really fun and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The prices were a little higher than I expected is the only down side. We'll likely be back to get in touch with our inner artists though! read more

My family had a great time painting but the experience was very impersonal. Five minutes into painting our pieces a young lady came over and asked us how much out pieces were. She then lifted up my 5 year old niece' piece while she was painting it to check the price. Really? She didn't even say hello or thank you. The other employee didn't help us out when we asked for bigger stencils...she simply said, look in the folder and see if it's there in a rather careless manner. One of my favorite hobbies that I'm not able to enjoy as often as I'd like is to paint pottery. I've tried a few places in the area, and I'm always very content when I go to Amazing Glaze. Since its nestled back in Mt. Washington, it is the perfect location for a relaxing afternoon away from the hustle and bustle of Falls Road. Each time I've gone, the staff has been helpful and friendly. Compared to other pottery places, there is a huge selection of items to paint and decorate. I hadn't been to Amazing Glaze in quite some time, so I'm not sure how new this is, but the shop now offers options like mosaics and glass painting, in addition to the pottery painting. The important thing to note about Amazing Glaze that may be overlooked that brings the price up is the Studio Fee-- in addition to the price of whatever ceramic you paint, you must also pay a fee depending on how long you've spent painting. The minimum is $7, but if you decide to stay all day and paint a bunch of items, the most you'll pay is $12 (I was there for a little over two hours today and my fee was $8.75). The studio also offers deals for certain days/nights such as ladies' night or tween night, where you can paint without a studio fee which makes it even more affordable. These places are always great for children's birthday parties; with such a friendly staff and large selection of options, I'd say Amazing Glaze would be the place to host one in the Baltimore area! read more

My mom and I had a great time painting pottery Mother's Day weekebd. It was a total surprise to her and sge ended up havibg a great time. She is already pkanning on going again with her friends. There is a huge selection of pottery to choose from and the staff was very helpful. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. It literally felt as though I was in an art studio. It was quiet, the staff was helpful, and all materials and paint were readily available. I understand there are other classes offered such as mosaics and I may tackle that next. read more

It's a an amazing place to spend a few hours getting in touch with your inner artist. They have a great, friendly staff who are very attentive and will even be patient with children or painters who ask really basic questions. They have a great selection of pottery to choose from and to date I've made a cup and saucer, mailbox and a dish. I'm not a major fan of the music played in the background, usually some 90's hits, but it's not too distracting. Overall, huge fan and will probably head back soon. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!! I WILL NEVER GO BACK. First of all, when we got there, the young lady who worked at the front tried to tell me and my daughter that we owed money and when she finally found what we payed, she gave me all my pottery pieces except one and said she couldn't find it and that she had lost it. The young lady acted so nonchalant and careless. This caused a big commotion and could've been simply avoided if she had just given me a refund or a replace piece for what she lost. The young lady and her co-worker proceeded to cut me off and try to just get me to leave without the piece THAT I PAYED FOR AND SHE JUST LOST. The young lady then just puts the pottery piece inside the bag WHICH SHE COULD'VE DID ABOUT 10 MINUTES AGO!!!! She starts to "Apologize" but it was very sarcastic and it was used to get me to leave. My girlfriend and I've made several pottery and fused glass items here. Everyone was pleasant and helpful during the actual visits. However, the recent results to our items after we left will mean that we will be trying other pottery establishments. The fused glass suncatcher had the hangers put on the front of the glass instead of the back, which means that they are not as intended. Despite two separate visits between my girlfriend's solo pottery project and us remembering to specifically ask for it, we were told her piece was "donated." We were never given it when we were picking up our other pieces or called to warn to pick it up. Eventually, they were able to locate it but not without several more calls and another visit. read more

Great place to get creative with kids. I took my five year old daughter for a mommy and me date and we had a great time. She loved it! She got to actually be super hands on and independent with the whole activity-everything from choosing what she wanted to paint and even gathering and setting up all the supplies she wanted to use, paint colors, brushes etc. read more

Very pleasant experience painting pottery here. They have unlimited refills on a wide selection of colors. We went when there was a separate brithday party going on but we still felt like it was a calm environment for painting. A fresh and quiet retreat from the busy parking lot around the building. Amazing Glaze is a fun place where you can paint your own pottery. I must first come clean and say I haven't been there on my own, but have only been there as a part of a larger group. That said, I had a great time when I did go. They do a great job of making sure everyone is having a good time, and you can actually reserve the entire store for a period of time for a group/party. Once you've painted your piece, you just hand it over and they glaze it for you for safe keeping. They have a big variety of pieces for you to paint. This is actually a great place for a date, or also for your kids as they have certain small toy like pieces (eg: small cars and such). Hope you have fun here! read more

A beautiful space to get your creativity on. I came here with my mentee for an event for the program I am a part of. The room was set up with all of the essentials. The women who facilitated the group were knowledgeable and very helpful. They also explained everything in good detail to ensure our colors would come out properly. I love the location and space. The walls are loaded with pieces that have been done by experts to decorate. I also love the big windows and white walls.There is a large selection of pottery to choose from too. This area also has a Whole Foods and a few restaurants around as well as other galleries to check out. read more

I'm very disappointed with my experience at amazing glaze, and I will not be back. I picked up my finished piece which is a light pink piggy bank only to get home to find a grey thumbprint smudge in the ear and a few specks of grey throughout the piece. I washed my hands before taking the piece to the shelf for drying and know I didn't touch the ear. I called the next day to express my disappointment because it's a baby shower gift. I was told that I can't glaze a new piece but they offered to have me bring the piece back and try to add some more glaze and refire it. The problem with that, which I pointed out is that it's a very light pink...I doubt it will cover grey. I don't even want to drive the 20 minutes back to attempt this correction only to have to return days later to pick up and hope it works. I am very disappointed in the customer service when I clearly wasnt at fault. If it were a kids piece I could understand their hesitation but I'm a meticulous adult who was making this for a gift. read more
