So we booked this experience to celebrate a friends birthday. First I believe we had the best chef/teacher and chef assistant anyone could ask for. Or group which were my 4 friends and some other groups of friends we didn't know asked a lot of questions. They were so patient teaching us how to make our own sushi. Definitely fun to do and can't wait to try it again with a different cuisine.

We had a fantastic time celebrating a family member's birthday at the Baltimore Chef Shop! We were 16 people, divided into two groups, all trying our hand at the same Creole recipe. It was a fun and educational experience, and we all enjoyed it. I'd give it a perfect 10 out of 10! The staff was wonderful, professional, and incredibly patient with us. I would definitely go back again. I suggest if you have kids to try the mommy and me class.

The Baltimore Chef Shop offers an exciting variety of classes released on their website a few times a year. Most options do repeat at some point so you won't necessarily totally miss out if a class fills up too quickly. Menus may change seasonally, but offerings include courses in different cuisines to make authentic recipes, fun street food menus, and you can even take a look at specialty foundational classes like "mastering the mother sauces." Additionally, The Chef Shop offers technical baking skill and cooking technique classes. Then there are a few multi class series like Regional French Cuisine, a 2 day croissant workshop, and a 6 part series on Baking Techniques. I can personally speak to the Jamaican Cuisine and Pasta Ripiena couples cooking classes. They were so incredibly fun! I learned some tips and feel well prepared to make some recipes at home. I look forward to making it in for a dessert course, and a parent and me class sometime too.

We had a wonderful time at Baltimore Chef Shop! We did the Southern Menu. They are very organized so among 6 people (3 couples), we were able to make SIX recipes in about 2 hours. The cheese grits, collards, and strawberry shortcake were my favorites. All ingredients are within arm's reach, and the measuring spoons and cups are too. The chef was entertaining and did several helpful cooking demos. Many of the other guests had been earlier and shared their tips. We ran into old friends and made some new friends, too.

We did this and it was fun. The 12-person class was split into two teams, and further split into the performance of individual tasks. Instruction was plentiful and personal, the equipment was clean, functional and utilitarian, with just enough hands-on involvement from the professional staff to keep us from going to awry. I'm not sure just what can be done about it, but the judgments made by classmates (how spicy, how finely chopped, care to avoid fish bones, etc.) do influence what you wind up eating. Still, at an event with much potential for things really to go wrong, much more went right. Parking was even less of a challenge than we feared, though maybe we got lucky.

My 9-year-old daughter and I took a class together and it was wonderful. Chef Carla and staff were welcoming, knowledgeable, warm and friendly despite our lacking skills. The 3 hour class was well planned and we left happy with homemade chocolate boxes to share with our friends and family. The space is clean and ran with efficiency and thoughtfulness. We highly recommend!

The class was so fun and a great chance to meet new people and stretch myself to try different recipes. My husband and I did a couples class and we both loved it. My husband is not a big cook but he loved the chance to try new cooking techniques. We would highly recommend but book early because the classes book up fast!

It was such a fun class! The chef was clear and thorough in explaining the recipe and instructions, and the staff were attentive and responsive throughout. I would definitely do this again!

We received a gift card a while back so we wanted to take the chance to check out the cooking classes. This was my first class here and Chef Sung and her team left an amazing impression!! The team worked beautifully together and Chef Sung was very knowledgeable and took the time to go over some house rules to make sure we were all safe and having fun. The class was divided into 2 teams of "6" and they give you a range of recipes that the table makes as a whole. The one big downside, which I can understand from a space perspective is that given the cost of the class, $165 per couple, that we would be able to make the dishes across each pair and have leftovers to take home versus shared across 6 individuals. I think $165 could cover the costs of the ingredients easily with plenty left over. The overall class was very organized and despite the challenges presented from some individuals, the team held it together well and handled each situation with care and ease while making sure we were not stressed out and kept having fun. Chef Sung also took some time as we arrived to introduce herself and made the class very personable. They offer a wide range of classes and covers a range of difficulty level. It is a great way to work as a team while learning some new cooking skills regardless of how good or bad you are at home. TIP (no pun intended): they collect tip at the end of the class, which I was not aware of so bring some cash!

UPDATE: My daughter and I signed up for a parent and me class on making homemade smores. It was a great opportunity to learn something new, gain new skills, and bond with my daughter. The teacher was great and of course it was a great atmosphere. The areas were so clean and well organized. We definitely will be back again for more classes!!

What an amazing experience with the friendliest, most helpful chefs in a beautiful building! We were given a gift certificate and chose the French Provençal class. We are pretty skilled home cooks and were excited to try a new cuisine we've never explored. I can't believe how much I learned, Chef Dan was so knowledgeable and explained everything with the perfect amount of science to help us understand exactly what was happening as we cooked. I left the shop feeling confident in my cooking skills, which is a great feeling after three hours of teamwork to bring together an amazing meal. This is a BYO friendly establishment (no liquor) and there's a package store nearby. I can't wait to put what I learned to use and I'm already thinking about the next class we should take! Thank you to everyone at the Baltimore Chef Shop, what an incredible experience.

Baltimore Chef Shop was an amazing experience and I highly recommend!! My husband and I did a couples cooking session and made the Thai street food. It was a wonderful time and we had so much fun! The food was also SO amazing. I recommend going with a group of 6 friends for a really fun time otherwise be open to cooking & eating closely with strangers as it's a collaborative class. The head Chef (can't remember his name but an older gentleman) and kitchen assistant Sierra were both so friendly and made sure everyone was safe and having a great time. A few recommendations for improved experience: better AC (that kitchen gets HOT with many ovens, stove tops, and people), photos of what the recipe looks like finished (we had to Google lol), put the order of work on the wall closer to the prep tables (we couldn't always see it posted over the stovetop which made pacing our recipes a little challenging). All in all a fabulous time and we are already looking forward to signing up for another experience.

So much fun! Loved working in a group and under the direction of a great chef! I learned a lot and had the best date day with my husband.

I thought we would at least have our own stations and be making our own meals--instead we worked as a collective, creating a sort of assembly line for rolling, stuffing, and making sauce, and we could jump around as we pleased. I forgot the instructors name, but he was very energetic, knowledgeable in his instruction, and friendly---making a very delicious focaccia bread for us to nibble on---which was a highlight. The space is also very cute! At the same time, for a pasta making class, I was not prepared to have everyone's hands rolling and cutting the food I would be eating at the end of the night. I tried not to look at what others were doing, as to not ruin my experience, but I do not feel enough emphasis was put on cleanliness to make this something I would want to do again. For example, we were rolling pasta with our bare hands, but some people were drinking their BYOB beverages, eating , and taking pictures. I don't think any hand washing took place in between. Lastly, we made 3 different pasta dishes and only 1 of them was really good in the end. The others were edible, but just not that great and needed more flavor. If I did return, it would be with a private group of people I know to make the experience more comfortable and enjoyable. OTHER GLOWS: -Free parking validation for 3 hours right outside! -10% off at lighthouse for byob drinks before hand (we didnt know this!)

When I went inside, the staff was very friendly and talkative. I decided to get the dulce de leche and passion fruit cakes in a jar, plus I got the cookies n creme and red velvet cupcakes. Appearance wise the cupcakes look great. The whipped icing on the cookies and cream had a weird thick and slimy consistency. The red velvet was not bad, but the cupcake was dry and underwhelming. The passion fruit was absolutely terrible and I couldn't get past the icing! Gross. The dulce de leche had a good flavor, but the cake was dry and old. When I got home, I noticed they have dates on the bottom of the cake jars and the dates on my jars were 10 days ago! I cannot get past a bakery selling stale and dry products. It is clearly their thing because there are too many reviews complaining about the quality of the products. Overall, I will never visit here in the future and I would encourage others to consider all of the reviews that have similar complaints. I am not sure if this has become an after thought to the owner, but if they are still active in the business, they should really fix this issue because the reviews are very consistent and telling of the downhill spiral this place appears to have taken.
