Not much of a food truck fan, however a truck offering Lithuanian food could not be passed over. Right outside Havoc in Pittsboro, this seemed like a great opportunity to try something you don't often see in food trucks. We sampled the cod cakes and chicken pastry, both as entrees with sauerkraut and beet salad as sides, and excellent. Had some garlic bread in the side, what seemed like fried rye bread with a cheese sauce, and lazy cake to finish, small bites of cakes with chocolate, not too sweet but delicious. Apparently this is the only Lithuanian food truck in the US. Definitely worth a visit to try some homemade Lithuanian food. Next order?; the stuffed pepper, beef sausage and goulash. read more

Wanted to like it more, but my wife and I both felt it was an average experience. The guy taking orders was a little off-putting. I ordered the chicken dumplings, and he was really pushing adding the 2 sides for $3. Figuring the chicken dumplings at $12 would either be a decent portion or would come with something already, I wasn't sure I needed the 2 sides. So I asked what one side would be. The guy kind of rudely said "well 2 sides is $3 so 1 side would clearly be $1.50." I understand that easy math but oftentimes there can be different unit prices if you get multiple of something versus one. Even calling out "2 sides for $3" seems to indicate it's a better deal than simply 1 side. And then when they gave me my order, he said they had thrown in some garlic bread with cheese. Which was a nice gesture if that truly wasn't standard (garlic bread was listed as a side), but at the same time had the garlic bread not been included, the portion of chicken dumplings for $12 would have been pathetic. My wife's smoked sausage on a hoagie was tasty, but again at $12 for just that (that came with no sides), the price just seems a little high (that's higher than stadium pricing for a brat or sausage). $12 for basically a brat on a bun just seems high. Really wanted to like this place, but the whole experience was just confusing and off-putting. Is your dumpling menu item really that small for $12? Or is the garlic bread always included? Maybe just say "all sides are $1.50"? read more

First time trying Lithuanian food and it was delicious! I highly recommend eating at Baltic Bites food truck! I tried the Beef Sausage hoagie with sides of beets and apple sauce and it was very filling and tasty. Typically food trucks aren't the healthiest option to eat at but Baltic Bites is an exception to that rule. I was very surprised to be able to order a nutritious meal from a food truck. The owners of the truck are also very friendly and provide great hospitality in helping you decide what to order. I followed their social media and will make a point to seek them out again whenever they are in my area because that is how delicious and unique their food is. read more

Baltic Bites is a local treasure! I had the chicken dumplings with crab rice and salad. Its was a good hearty portion, a good weight in the hands (one of my personal measures of a good food truck) The food is homemade Northern European cuisine unlike anything I've had in the Raleigh area. The dumplings are like Pierogi with mushroom or beacon gravy, topped with sour cream and dill. The crab rice and the cucumber salad were both light and delicious. A Lithuanian food truck. Not sure I've seen this specific food type from a truck before, but why not? I think this truck will only get better. They've only just begun operating. It's a limited menu for this inaugural run. The pasties, available in chicken, mushroom or cheese, were okay. The shell was light and flaky, the mushroom filling with its large mushroom slices was a good balance. These have to be eaten warm, though. If they cool, the shell gets soggy and that combined with the consistency of the filling, makes for a too-soft meal. You probably won't be hungry after you eat a couple of them though, especially with the salad sides. The cabbage salad -- not unlike coleslaw, but didn't have the tanginess of a vinegar base or the creaminess of a mayo base. It really is a salad of cabbage with bits of carrots and black pepper and a slight hint of seasoning. It was good. So, too, was the rice salad with the cucumbers and corn in a slightly creamy base. Neither of the two salads had bold flavors, but that's not unusual. The dessert: not really a fan of these. Pastry pieces sprinkled with powdered sugar. They weren't bad, just not my thing. BalticBites is teetering on the edge between three and four stars. As they get more experience, I look forward to seeing what other items might show up on the menu. The first day I moved to Raleigh from Austin, TX, I came to Camden Westood to sign my lease and came across this awesome Lithuanian food truck. The owners were so nice and welcoming when I told them I was new to town and had never tried Lithuanian food before. The man told me their business was all the hard work and dreams of his wife wanting to spread their culture so I told them to just order me up their best dish which they recommended the cabbage roll combo. LET ME TELL YOU... I had never tasted anything like it. This roll of cabbage was packed with flavor and strangely paired with the side of apple sauce of all things it enhanced the flavor?! I'm drooling just thinking about it. As I was leaving, the woman gave me some Lithuanian dessert cake to welcome me to town and just about melted my heart. Comfort food perfect for a cold winter night. Our neighborhood has invited this truck a few times and we have been excited to try it. They gave us so much food. It really is a great value, enough food for a few meals. I ordered three dishes: The beef sausage- it came with mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy, garlic sticks, and the sausage. My husband loved the sausage. It was like a Polish Keilbasa. Salmon-the sides I selected were beets and saurerkraut with the salmon on a bed of rice. The salmon was succulent with fresh dill and light dressing on top. There was the most delightful mushroom gravy on top of the rice. It was creamy without being overly heavy. The mushrooms tasted fresh like perhaps from a garden. Definately, enjoyed the beets. Will ask for a double beet order next time. Also, I loved the texture of the rye garlic sticks. Next time, I would not order the saurerkraut because it was not served warm. This may be the way Lithuanians prepare it. Chicken pastry-These are homemade everyday by owner. The pastry crust is amazing. I wonder if this comes with other fillings. Note-the chicken was perfectly fine, nice and juicy. The owners were very friendly, nice and helpful. They are a husband and wife team and work well together. The wife is the one who was preparing the foods and the husband was handling the customer service. Also, the service was quick. We stumbled across Baltic Bites while walking around in Brewgaloo, an annual beer festival in downtown Raleigh, NC. Of all the food trucks that were there, this one stood out to me the most. I talked with the owners, and the woman is from Lithuania and makes authentic Lithuanian food. They were both so nice and friendly to talk to. The food itself was incredible! The chicken pastry and the hoagie were perfect and fresh, and the lazy cake dessert was amazing! It tasted similar to a Milano cookie but better! I usually never order food from food trucks, but the value for money and the friendliness of the owners was so good that it was too good to pass up. I also liked how decorative the food truck was with Lithuanian flags and country outlines. Not only would I get food from them again in the future, I will actively seek them out when I get the craving again, which will be very soon! So glad I happened across Baltic Bites during a quick stop into Ponysaurus for a quick beverage on my ride home. Excellent and genuinely friendly service kicks off the experience but when the food comes, oh man, what an experience. This is comfort food made with thought, care, and apparently love because it just fills you with joy. Now I think there is something on the menu for everyone, which is great because some of the things I had that are more specific to that region of the world were just amazing to me and my family, but like any international based cuisine, may not appeal to those that that are super picky about flavor profiles. Baltic Bites is my favorite food truck around Raleigh! It's authentic and there is nothing else like it. There are so many of the same types of food trucks around so I appreciate something different but being so good at the same time. I literally crave their cabbage rolls and have to get it if it's on the menu every time. Special mention to their sausage as well but we haven't had anything we haven't liked yet. The owners are always super friendly and love chatting with them. Hope to see them at the food truck rodeo's next year. One improvement- it would be easier to follow their location on street food finder or some platform like that rather than having to look them up directly when I think about it. read more

100% authentic and delicious Lithuanian food! My wife was born in Lithuania and came to the US when she was 10. Her family still makes the traditional meals, and we've been back to Lithuania to visit, as well. Baltic Bites straight up nails it! We LITERALLY ordered one of everything on the menu (just my wife and I, and yes we had delicious leftovers). Everything was properly made and fantastic.
